  • In this video I'll show you how to make a homemade table saw using a circular saw.
For various woodworking projects I found that circular saw isn't enough for me. And for more precise cuts I need a table saw. Instead of buying one, I made it by using circular saw.
Try to made it simple and cheap as possible. This table saw cost me only few $ - and that was for screws and zip ties.

This was perfect as a vanity desk for me. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMAlHv7-BBWMrPRm5-uEoD6rtdT7SG2Qr Especially the glossy finish. Easy to cleanI was looking for something that wasn't the traditional white and with more of a modern feel. This fit the bill beautifully. I put it together with no problems, by myself in under an hour.Make sure you double check where you place the drawer tracks before screwing down. I had one track that needed to be aligned with different holes than the rest.

Thank you so much for the inspiration. I've wanted a table saw for a while and I had all the materials you used with your build, so I built one very similar.
The saw I used literally cost me 20 dollars 20 years ago. It's been on a shelf collecting dust not being used.
My first cut was perfect on the angle, but the cut was not perfectly straight even though everything is square.
I attribute this to the cheapness of my saw.
I might have to make a slight adjustment to the fence I use to compensate for not cutting straight.
All and all I'm very happy with how it turned out.

This build failed to mention how dangerous this setup is without a riving knife attached . While making a cut yesterday , the piece of timber jammed up on the saw blade and was launched into the wall at crazy speeds . Riving knives have been mandatory on all table saws since mid 2000s for this exact reason . Without it , it’s not a matter of IF but WHEN an accident is going to occur .

It might have been more productive to explain how or even just paste a link on how to add the safety feature; I cannot take away from the dude who took his time and effort to put together this content; it is Useful & Actionable information; is it complete, perfect or a 100% solution; maybe not; and the subsequent comment about the safety feature is equally useful as well; even though it doesn't include real useful information, beyond presenting a problem.

I see people make hybrids like this as a fairly standard thing. They appear to start with a small table saw then build a large platform around it. So I thought "I have a skill saw, there isnt much difference... I wonder if"... then youtube....
My question is, how do you make it to where it can make angled cuts? If you saw out the hole at an angle, would the hole be too big to hold thin material without snagging? U know? But for what I'm doing, I dont see myself needing to cut an angle that often.

However , a corded circular saw is cheaper, and better yet, you can buy second hand and make up the frame with wood from anything eg recycling day on your street. I came here to watch a video to learn how to mount a circular saw to a table and get ideas on how to make it portable. However, I can't help but marvel at the level to which technology has advanced. Text to speech has come a long way even though it still has ways to go. Its still come far enough to where people from other parts of the world can share ingenious ideas like this, and also garbage unfortunately, with the world even if they may not speak English well and/or may have a thick accent difficult to understand. They may not speak English at all but can now translate written text since Google translate has also come a long way. Amazing.

    • @LBCAndrew

      Is it possible? Yes
      Is it safe? Fuck no
People need to understand that table saws are probably the most dangerous tool in a workshop and when sh*t goes bad, it goes bad catastrophically. How much does it cost for the ambulance ride, hours of surgery, months of physical therapy, and the lost income being out of work all that time if you cut off a few fingers? Tens of thousands of dollars if not more. How much is a cheap table saw with actual safety features like a guard, riving knife, anti-kickback things? About $200-250.
Don't get me wrong, i love diy stuff. I make all kinds of jigs, tools, etc. But there are some things that are so incredibly stupid to save a few bucks...

    • @Fetidaf
      @Fetidaf 3 роки тому

@@LBCAndrew I’m so glad you said this since I havent seen a single other comment like yours. I think that table saw is second only to the lathe in terms of “can kill or seriously injure you the second you let your guard down”. Every time I’ve turned one on I’ve been reasonably terrified of it and I think you kind of need to be in order to not lose some fingers... not like completely tense almost shaking terrified but constantly aware of what can go wrong. I understand that table saws are somewhat cost prohibitive to the average person but I’d argue that the average person doesn’t really need one. If you’re just doing stuff around the house a circular saw will get a vast majority of the job done and is a much better option than a DIY table saw... just the thought of people doing this worries me.
I think their time, money, and safety is much better spent on just practicing with a circular saw...

I've made homemade tools like a router table and jig saw table, but think a circular saw is a bridge too far. Its awfully dangerous, more so than the other tools I mentioned. Once as a teenager saw someone cut off their finger on one and seen pictures of circular saw accidents. I have an old Craftsman circular saw, but wouldn't build a table, this one I'd prefer ro buy with all the latest safety features. Good luck with your build.

    • @nateallen325

FX P if your worried about safety you could teach the teenager using it not to go near it with out using a push stick or build a safety board that goes over top the blade so that no one can trip and land palms down on the blade there's all types of ways to make this more safe I personally wouldn't allow kids that didn't know how to work with power tools to be around my stuff to wear they could get hurt this is just. Quick easy way to make a table saw if you don't have one in a job site is yours broke down I don't see this being some ones one and only table saw in less it was for personal use only and in that case if they made it they should have power tool safety in mind while using it

So I said...forget that, ill just make a table saw out of my circular saw. Then I was thinking what the best way to make a 'table' would be, and how to depress trigger the best way etc. This is straight forward. To the point, well done, just perfect.!

It's a realy nice job you have done here. But you should think about to insert a safety switch at all. Sure: It will work, but in time of an error in your electic perhaps it can be fatal. And think about that some people would do the same thing because they have seen it here ... just my 2 cents ;)

If you were to mount the power bar on the front rather than the side you can hit the off switch with your knee. That's why they're located there on table/arbour/cabinet saws.

Good idea, using your knee. Since you might not have any fingers left for the purpose.

There are a few components to building a table saw. One resource I found that succeeds in merging these is the Wilfs wood blueprint (check it out on google) without a doubt the most incredible resource that I have ever heard of. look at the unbelievable information .

I can always tell when someone hasn't had any formal training in carpentry and this is another plank teaching bad habits. Where's the riving knife, where's the crown guard and where is the feed off table to stop hands reaching to the back of the blade? Some joker will end up with no fingers watching crap videos such as this.

Great vid 👀👍 Using recycled timber was another plus point here and a positive to viewers on reminding them that you can often find old cabinets etc that are perfect for this type of project. Often you can find a BASE already built and all you have to do is make or modify the top sections etc. DO take a look at using circular saws SAFELY noting the problems that can happen with using circular saws re ie kickback of timber and etc. Types of blades to use for various timbers - crosscut, laminates etc Keep electrical cables TIDY and use correctly!! A cut out switch with a big red button (no volt switch_ ) and or footswitch is a good idea. Do remember as well that this will do a lot but is still NOT a professional saw bench!! Think before you BLINK re safety!! You want to keep your hands and fingers! 👀👍 I've adapted an old metal box frame computer desk with 3/4 inch ply for my saw bench ! I can remove the saw bench timber and replace with ply for a router when needed. Keeps the same box metal base but is adapted to suit. Likewise as a workbench once again swapping the various plywood tops to suit. If you include a power socket from the big red button switch you can plug in what you are using ie the saw, the router OR ! 👀👍 I have two shelves and a drawer beneath the frame for putting tools and etc. You can make a vacuum cleaner port by taking a piece of ply (t shape) an cutting a large hole for the vac tube to fit to with the tube at the same level as the work top - simply use a paint brush to sweep the saw dust etc into the tube with the vac on (I use a foot switch to operate the vac. Couple of $s for the no volt switch AND a few $s for the foot switch. To think that old box frame metal computer desk cost me a couple of $s !! 👍😉 Solid as a rock !! multi purpose which always amuses me as to why manufacturers don't produce MULTI table set ups re circ saw / router/ work bench and similar set ups that are interchangeable using the same base. I don't want 4 different bases taking up unwanted space !! Stay safe whoever, wherever you are !! 👀👍
