Sam Smith is like a slow poison. I listened to this song when it came out and I thought "Meh, it's ok." Now I'm totally addicted and can't stop listeneing to it.
Finally someone who understands me, the acoustic version sounds so soothing and the emotions are so newly evident.

“They’re all posing in a picture frame whilst my world’s crashing down.” I’m not sure how, but they managed to capture the exact feeling of being lost, lonely, and unhappy especially when being surrounded by others who look perfectly fine. It’s such a lonely and devastating feeling that makes someone feel as if they’re the only one experiencing such pain, but Sam Smith managed to find a way to make us feel less alone in our own version of heartbreak. Well done. This song is an absolute masterpiece.

I remember when I was in Rome before coronavirus and I was sitting next to the Colosseum and as I was seeing people passing by, dancing, laughing, couples falling in love, this song was playing in my earphones and now listening to this song again, seems like I am watching that same day passing in front of me. When you consider that 95% of people are unsuccessful in life then they are the 'normal' but i'm sure in this instance you would prefer to be the 5% who are successful and 'abnormal.'Everything is a state of mind. When my wife fell ill 30 years ago, and she is still ill today being cared for by me, everyone around me said i would never be able to bring up my 3 small children at the time and it would be best if i left my medical job and signed on for social security. That was when i realised that most people have a poor persons mindset, while i was thinking great things for my children everyone else was feeling sorry for me. So i sought to change their mind and today my children have all gone through University. I set up a multi million pound business from scratch and live in a million pound house.I have a thriving property business and i have a youtube channel giving advice on crypto currency while at the same time still looking after my wife for the last 30 years. So you have a question to ask yourself sir, 'Is my world crashing down or is this an opportunity to dig deep and believe in my self and create a wonderful vision for me and family' and if it is the former then you're thinking is going to keep giving you the outcome you already have for the rest of your life which isn't a lot, but if your thinking the latter then you are opening up a world full of possibilities, excitement,of learning and growing and a world with a different more positive outcome. Then you will be happy to be abnormal. So Mr Moreno which is it going to be?? It's your choice with 2 different outcomes, which outcome do you want?? Take care and good luck my friend :-)

@Habibah Han...I am sure you mean well and you have a good heart but embracing his 'new normal' is saying he should accept his situation that his world is crashing. My thinking would be to transform his negative situation and become a beacon of light and hope. Yes Allah (swt) does not give you a burden greater than you can handle but why accept it? why not dig deep and say to yourself 'You know what, i can do better than this.' We should never accept society norms as the majority of society are poor,average,unambitious people.Take care and good luck :-)

I actually prefer this version of the song, I feel it so emotive and the Sam’s voice turns brighter when most of the arrays disappear, what a nice song and terrific voice.

This song came up on my Spotify mix and tears started welling up before I could stop it. “Sunshine living on a perfect day while my world’s crashing down” - she passed on last year from cancer and I still think of her every day, especially when I look at the sky during sunset and see how pretty it is. She would have liked it. My mum was my closest friend and losing her destroyed me. It hurts less on most days but on some days it comes crashing down on me again.
Words can't even express how much I love Sam Smith. Gorgeous. The aura, growth, craft, and everything about them is just amazing.

This draws me straight back to the years after my boyfriend, soulmate, love of my life suddenly died unexpectedly just over 14 years ago, now. Not the initial horror, disbelief and vomiting, then never getting out of bed again but the time *after* that (like the following couple of years). My whole life had just disappeared, the metaphorical language he and I had spoken to one another was a language I was left in this world being the only one speaking it and no one could understand me. He and I had been the richest people in a private country of our own that existed between our bodies and minds.... and when he died, that country disappeared. So I was left with all this wealth that was worth NOTHING to anyone else on the planet or beyond; I had all this knowledge and all kinds of little secrets about him, like an intricate map of the most gorgeous landscape... and the next day, while I was still clutching that map tightly, the land just disappeared in its entirety - just *gone* - and all this incredible stuff I knew became instantly irrelevant to quite likely no one at all and that is enough to make anyone go insane.
Everyone else was going on with their shallow ass existence, smiling, hugging their partners, being happy, and every ounce of it was excruciating to me. I resented even my best friend because she could go home to her boyfriend after spending time consoling me or just sitting there with me for as long as she could, long after I had become a human zombie.
People expected I would be way more over his death by a year or two after the fact. I was so young, still 19, he had been 21, I lost all but two friends what felt like instantly. Some people I trusted and liked to high degrees ignored me or actually told me to my face that I was 'ruining everyone's fun' so they didn't want to see me on my birthday, some said they'd come and see me and then turned off their phones and went to someone else's house to have fun at some party. I will say there were some people that I didn't expect to invest anything in me after, having not been previously as close as a lot of others, but they went out of their way to come and see me when I didn't leave the house. ever. and brought me little gifts and would stay in touch. Some people are good people. Most people are sick and their true colours are more disgusting than you could ever imagine. This world. :(
Sorry, to anyone who reads this. Everything is flooding out. I'm sitting here bawling like an idiot, typing my misery out to potentially no one or, at best, to complete strangers via a UA-cam comment, and under such a beautiful song at that. I'm almost 34 and every now and then the pain creeps back up or, like now, suddenly just explodes forth and is as raw as ever, though slightly less crippling. I can get up and do things now, I might vry the whole time, but people can fucking deal. and if they can't, I'm happy to swap places for a little break. I never 'recovered' and my life has been an ongoing series of living nightmares as a result. Life is not fair - never has been, never will be. I think we are blessed to have a time limit. By the time you realise this is all that happens, the end isn't too far away. Not long to wait. *SIGH*

Hey there, you write beautifully - they say "only the most sensitive soul writes the most touching words". I'm sorry for what u had to go through, but I won't tell u that everything is going to b ok eventually, because some things simply won't, ever. But we live with it, and we live on - our pain is a part of how gorgeously unique we are. At least that's what I've always believed. I lost my grandpa in 2012 and 8 yrs on, I still write letters to heaven in my laptop imaging how happy he'd b if he had been there to see me grow into a brave independent woman. I still bawl uncontrollably when I think of him, just like when he was first gone, instead of making it to his funeral, I sat in front of his garage and cried till I passed out; that kind of excruciating pain doesn't get healed by time, but we probably become stronger. And now because of COVID, my special someone - whose sentences I can finish and who has the purest, most gorgeous heart I've ever known - whom I was supposed to see in March, remains thousands of miles from me. And I don't know when's the next time I'll see him - sometimes I miss him so damn much I wish I never got to know him. Being apart from him for this much time is already unbearable, I cannot begin to imagine how you must've felt and still feel. It's easy to think God's punishing me, but the more I feel hurt, the more I'd like to believe that someone up there loves me - so I have to pass this love on to others, I have to be always kinder, more generous and see the good in people. and Be someone who loves life, despite the bruises it's given me. and be a better person. because somehow giving out love feels magically healing to me, and am constantly grateful to what I still have, the people I still have. Love overcomes anything and everything :)

Andrea don’t be to hard on your friends because when you were living in that beautiful world with him , the world around you was still going. Keep that beautiful memory with you deep in your heart , maybe the world that you created still exist. A lot has changed but it could still excite. Don’t worry too much about fake friends the one that matter will always come around. Take this journey to continue to love and learn about your passion and yourself .

For all of these leads to a single destination- finding someone to give a part of your soul, the very essance of your existance and loving them with all we have. While many are in love, some are not. Christopher Bird I’m talking about my mother ..... she passed when I was 10 and I just tried coping with everything taking care of my 4 siblings who where all Younger than ... my father who was depressed and the killer of them all people feeling sorry for me Specially kids at school. Before my mother passing I was bullied nonstop even when I didn’t know it was bullying no one spoke to me even if the did it’s for Money or homework.... so I felt weak and started to put my mind in to “she is not her that’s it” as if she was on vacation or something I was there when she passed it was the 11 of February and my birthday is on the 13th ... it’s just that I’m giving out all my feeling here cuz I real can’t talk about it....
