Great tips for beginners - I started playing about 7 months ago and just discovered your channel. I enjoy practicing upshot’s by setting 3 targets in a triangle with 3 different length sides (180, 140 & 100 feet). I throw in a clockwise direction for a while, then turn around and throw the opposite direction which gives me 3 different lengths and 6 different wind directions to throw into.
Granted, I'm new, but upshots are my favorite practice shots. Most of my practice is upshots, not really good past 125' yet... but dialed in pretty well for a newb from 40-125'. I have a large yard and a basket, so I'll put the basket on a hill and approach it from downhill/level/uphill, then run my putts. My favorite disc is my newest, the Dynamic Discs Deputy (3 | 4 | -1.5 | 0) in Classic Blend. For my upshot power, I really don't get much if any turn and I have a straight finish. I don't have an overstable putter, so I use my Kastaplast Jarn (4.5 | 3 | 0 | 3). And, of course, I have a glitch. I think I do as well as I do (which isn't great) because I focus so much time on upshots... I think it is time well spent.
Practicing upshots made me go from 750 rated rounds to 850 rated rounds. Important topic. I would have added, don't be afraid to "over approach" the basket, as one usually is short rather than long, but then you shot Glitch long... Oh well. 😀
Thats awesome! Learning to dial in the short vs long can be tough and its something that I think comes with consistent practice. Not to mention groundplay, theres a huge difference in approaches depending on what the terrain inside the circle is made of. Tall grass vs dirt/roots is very different!
Great advice! Keep up the great work!

That's a great way to practice! Glad you enjoy the channel!
I was distracted by those guns the whole time! Suns out guns out!

Couldnt agree more! That sounds like a great setup. I still need to try some Kastaplast
