Have a 1986 250 it sat for 12 years fixed it up slowly while still riding it now it is finished need nothing and its a great little bike for the family to put around. Solid little bike with a solid engine.

I plan to keep this quad around the farm. just got it running. Would it be a good idea to go ahead and buy a pickup coil & stator for future need? Will they be available years from now when I need a set?
I bought a clean KLF 300 that was crank, no-start. It had spark & fuel, would crank, but not start. I studied the boards, youtube and more for information, then set to work. I started with the carb. I rebuilt it. Then I learned it was not the original Kehin Japanese carb, but rather a cheap Chinese replacement. That dog don't hunt. I learned you use the original Kehin carb to make this quad work. I bought the original from a junk yard and rebuilt it. I emptied the fuel tank, ran new fuel lines and filter. I checked for spark, had spark, cleaned the plug, checked gap. The KLF 300 started right up. success. While running the quad, it died suddenly. :-( I knew I had fuel, so I checked for spark. I expected the pickup on the coil to have gone bad. nope. I had spark. fuel? I checked what I had just repaired and discovered the carb had come-off the rubber intake boot. I did not clamp that down enough. My lesson: Do not assume your repair stays fixed. a good battery, spark, fuel and compression. These things you need to get the quad started and running. It's running perfectly after all these years sitting dead. Thanks to Harvey Spooner, on youtube, for the advice and encouragement to get a dead quad running again.
Glad you got it running. Also a couple other things people over look for a engine to run is correct engine timing and ignition timing. If you have good compression, fuel, air and spark but it still doesn’t run check the engine and ignition timing.
Was hoping to see you tackle that starter in this video. I’ve got one of these without the recoil starter. I don’t know if it’s locked up or what. The starter on this one had shifted. None of the lines are lined up. Ordered two new starters and both of them are locked up
@@StrikerxCast Recoils are usually easy to fix. You can buy new parts of motosport.com or ebay. Ebay has lots of new parts. It'll be cheaper to repair than to replace.
Make sure you have enough battery voltage when cranking. Use the pull start. These atvs especially are bad for the battery voltage dropping too low to produce spark while cranking the starter.
Lmao why use a rocker? These bikes have a male and female plug that you can simply disconnect from the key switch and connect together and it will bypass the key switch all together
The plastic on mine looks the same ...mine comes up as a 2012 clk 300a ....I'm looking for a carb ...it calls for a 15004-4004 ..is it possible to use a n 89 to 2005 carb
I have this exact ATV and I'm struggling to find what model it is. Is it really a 95? The reason I ask is because I'm looking for parts for it and need the model number for it.

There's a decompression valve on the right hand side of the head for hand pulling starting
This is the exact comment I came to post. Thank you lol
I had to replace alot of wiring, gaskets, seat cover, and front tires
Just use the compression release and then it’s much easier to pull
I got a Suzuki lt300e and me and my buddy was pulling it and always was hard pulling abould tore our arms off then got told about that really helps
I dont think it has a compression release switch I know my 92 suzuki Quadrunner quad runner 300 does
@@fazerainbow5674 I think it does I have a 97 bayou 300 and it has one
This was my exact thought.

What type oil goes in the gear box or does the engine oil lubricate it also
Engine shares oil with the transmission
Just got one, she needs to be tampered with to start but we’ll see what happens
I got mine July 2and and it sat for 5 years too XD
Can you show the back of the wiring on the starter solenoid please or send pics I need wiring
I found wiring diagrams online easily. Its just 4 wires. the 2 small ones switch it on and the two big ones carry current from the battery to starter.
pfun41 can you post a pic or send me a pic or post a video of it plz I can’t find anything 4239212122

Are you gonna do a part 2
In due time, It got put on hold for other projects.
do u want to get my bayou running for me
That depends, do you wanna bring it to me and wait the 2 months it takes for me to get to it?
I have the identical one. I have spark and fuel. Seems like it has too much compression, can't even pull it sometimes
They have a compression release if you need to use the pullstarter.

Oil, and anything that's broken.

Good low price, it will take a bunch of work but worth resurrecting fully. Good used parts are cheap.
Did you ever figure out the reverse lockout problem? Mine is the same. You can put it into reverse without using the knob.
Havent looked into it. It still shifts into reverse without the knob.

spark plug replace and then ignition coil replacement

How do u drain transmission fluid on the 220

4 stroke, so no.
