2017 Triumph Bobber | First Ride Review

- Whilst I enjoy all the bikes I ride and test for various different reasons, there are only a few that I leave actually thinking that I would like to buy for myself. The Triumph Bobber is now one of those bikes, It was a particularly hard bike to hand back at the end of testing. It speaks to the part of me that wanted to get into riding in the first place. It is a very solidly built unique set of wheels, with 150+ Triumph official accessories to choose from. It is also surprisingly capable at handling baring the slightly softer breaks and relatively short ground clearance. If you've already decided you want one then you know exactly what your reasoning is and I can happily tell you that you absolutely won't be disappointed because it very competently carves out it's own unique spot within the Triumph family and you simply won't find the same experience with any other bike.
Massive thanks to Woods motorcycles for letting me borrow the bike to test in the first place, and as a personal favour to me please check out their website with the link below:

nice video, going to buy one later this year...
Thanks. Hope the weather holds out long enough for you to enjoy it.
Worth it for the Guy Martin impression alone!
Thanks man, very kind.
My first time watching your channel, I rode the bobber as well and loved it however my review was crap on comparison to yours. Nice detailed review good job. Oh and I live in the states So. Cal. to be exact and I love Guy Martin, your impression is Spot On!
Cheers!
BBRFST Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I'm a big fan of Triumph and the bobber is really fun. Glad you like the impression too, he's on channel 4 all the time over here and I can't get enough, he's such an interesting character. Had a look at your channel and I couldn't find your Bobber review but I like your content.
Rarefied Road oh I'm sorry I moved that over to my other channel where I focus on my Speed Triple and my rides with friends.
Nu_Rider just search that and it should come up. Thanks for the quick reply.
Great, I'll have a look later today.
Spot on!
do you wear the bobber cam, it jumps around like a jelly bean
its punchy and torquey you say....Might be my next bike then!
It certainly is. Enjoy :)
What a nice place. Where do you live? England but where? What time of the year was this video make? Ty Greetings from Venezuela.
Thanks for the comment Alejandro. It's actually Wales, just along the coast in a town called Abergele. And it was early summer, around June. You'll have to look it up if you ever come over to the UK there's some great riding around here. My love to Venezuela.
Love the Bobber, the beard is killing me though, fill it in around the mouth and you'll look like Steve Reeves (of Hercules fame). And, I'm going to admit, I don't know who Guy Martin is. Just an
old biker showing my age !
PS, to ride a Triumph in the English and Welsh countryside is a dream I must fulfill, thanks for the vid.
Ha! Having just searched I think you're right, I do have the reincarnation of Steve Reeves beard attached to my face, what an honour. I won't be doing mutton chops again don't worry.
Hope you get to ride a Triumph through the countryside soon, just make sure the weather's kind.
Does the ground clearance an issue as it's really low ??? Should I be worried abt it coz I want to buy one
It is an issue, you will ground pegs every now and then for sure, but it shouldn't put you off buying one you just can't ride it like a sports bike.
Nice review mate!
Thank you.
I have a 2001 Yamaha XJR1300 and want another bike torn between the Bobber and Thruxton R is the bobber to similar in a naked bike vane to the XJR which l will keep or do l get the Thruxton, opinions please.
Interesting one. I'd actually say that the bobber was a bigger change than the Thruxton if you're keeping your Yam. The Thruxton is after all also naked unless you opt for the extra faring and has closer proportions to an XJR. And as for performance the Bobber is lower, heavier, and pulls from lower in the range. Worth testing both though and I'm sure you've already seen but I have a review of the Thruxton as well if you want more info. Hope that helps.
Thanks if l got the Thruxton l would go with the fairing, looks great. Good review.
Thanks man, best of luck with the choice, have little think whether you want the refinement of the Thruxton or the weighty power of the Bobber. And then have a look at the Bobber black they've just brought out because the breaks are much better and it has cruise control.
Ended up buying a thruxton r with the fairing, very happy. Rode a Bobber thought the Thruxton was a lot more fun.
Nice review man
Thanks fella, it was a really fun bike to test.
Any chance of a ride and review of a V Max?
That might be tricky one to get my hands on unfortunately
Fantastic 👍
Thank you.
Will this video make an impression on you #GuyMartin worth a look I'd say, oh yes, cracking, now where's me brew so I can watch again #BigBrew
First in. Welcome home
The brakes on the Bobber are so bad, almost dangerous. And the rear shock is also too weak if you want to get a bit "frisky" on a fun road. The rear end start to snake a bit too much for a new bike even if it is a "bobber". Felt like my old mk1 Bandit from 95 with the shock ready for the bin.. The pegs where a bit hard to find, yet I do find them intuitive on a HD night rod, dunno why it is like that on the bobber. Other wise the bobber was superb.. :P
Pretty good breakdown. I agree with the brakes. They're not great it has to be said. Still though, couldn't quantify it but I really liked my ride out on it.
WTF ?!! Are you on some sort of motorcycle? Why?
