All bass, the actual frequencies that propagate behind a loudspeaker when it is turned away from the listener.

@@Scarlet_Soul it could be originally from Peru, but is widely used in Spanish Flamenco and some styles of Cuban rumba. But how are tech reviewers going to know about general culture?
The drum is called a cajon and it’s an actual instrument that is widely used. Granted this one looks to be very poor quality. Teenage Engineering is a musical instrument company that designs really nice small form factor synths.

"They could have just included multiple colors in the box"
I guess the idea is they make you choose one separately so you don't have parts in 4 colors laying around while you only use 1. Economically & ecologically friendly. :)
It might be environmentally friendly but don't forget that now IKEA gets to make money twice, instead of just once! They save money from not having to include all those different color fronts with every speaker and then they make money from selling those overpriced colored fronts! (one set of a single color for the small speaker is $10and one color for the large one is $17, prices converted from € to US$ from my local IKEA catalogue)

I love to see how painfully obvious it is that Linus has never seen a cajon before. It's also cool to see that Teenage Engineering manufactured speakers! The sound does remind me of their company/style.
Also weird that the cajon is just so randomly at an Ikea. I would have never expected them to have one, especially one without snares. Come on Ikea!

yep and only that, as they only lent their *visual* design to this range (thanks to This Does Not Compute's video)
I own one. It has great sound for the size and it’s at a great price. Teenage Engineering announced this about two years ago, but only the speakers and a turntable that was ultimately cut from the product line because in product testing, people kept breaking it while assembling. I don’t think teenage engineering designed everything else though like the cups, raincoat, drum, pillow, etc. I think that was an ikea desision to make them.

after he pushed the mid driver in and started going for the tweeter, i amost got a heartattack.

A speaker that parties by itself. A party speaker.
For some reason I feel this episode is super fun.
What is even funnier is that "frekvens" is perfectly pronounced as "frequence".
I mean, teenage engineering make the most fascinating and top notch synthesisers (review one of them!!)
I hope you're joking! I really do! Cuz they made a cheap speaker to sell en mass and that's OK, But even my brother can do that! No, they didn't stop there, they used the overpriced tag to buy an actual tweeter and put on it. Then they decided not to hook it up to the amplifier because designing a crossover would be too much. and finnally they decided to put a low-pass filter to cut off high frenquencies from the driver they actually hooked up to the amplifier because that's somehow a good idea and not at all, similar to making a crossover.
I mean, they could just as well have wired everything thogether shoved up on an amplifier terminal and just hope it works well enough not to catch fire before the 1 year warranty ends.

Davie504: TRIGGERED
Even if it's base heavy, if it's a good speaker couldn't you tune the sound curves to include less bass? Or is that not how "bass/treble heavy" works?
Depends on the speaker
Watching Linus try to play the drum incorrectly was a 10/10
Box: designed to look like it’s a speaker.
Linus: no one could tell theres a speaker inside.
German resident here, those swedes are something else huh? These speakers seem super overpriced, seriously to set up a "2.1" (not even true stereo, according to the data sheet) Frekvens sound system would cost 165 euro plus change. There are much more respectable solutions on the market for half the price. The portability seems to only complicate the issue as the battery packs are not included (although relatively reasonably priced) but then when you include the extra 44 euro plus change you would have to fork out for 3 battery packs you're now competing against even better portable speakers.
To put this in perspective instead of paying around 210 euro for the "2.1" Frekvens you could simply spend 145.50 for an LG PL7 XBOOM and only miss out on 10W RMS over the Frekvens but in return get better sound quality, actual stereo sound, better portability and be 55 euros richer.
On another note that box drum thing is apparently a Cajon, a Peruvian percussion instrument if you want to look up how it's supposed to sound simply search for "Cajon" solo on here on UA-cam.
