"The screen is a big part of what makes the projector sound good" -Linus 2019
*great
@Kobra Thor
Naw. Pretty sure he meant the sound waves are reflected back from the screen like an echo. "Although the direction of the sound changes, the echo sounds the same as the original sound." It has to do with all those tightly packed fibers. Also I'm kidding. 👍
He is kinda right though. If you want good sound with a projector setup, you need the center speaker behind the screen and an acoustically transparent screen.
now there are so many ultra uber flat tv's that are as skinny as a protector sheet with the lcd build in.. Makes it pointless to have a projector
@@wilsongilley76 since when is the flatness the selling point of a projector? For me it always was the size (a bit obsolete with samsungs microled wall) and the option to have a correctly positioned center speaker. And the selling point of the tv for me is the brightness, contrast, silence and ease of installation.
Riley is the single greatest addition you could have made to the channel. This is what NCIX died for.

If you don't have the speakers for it, all the boost in the world ain't gonna sound good (in fact it'll sound worse). My 8" sub makes the intro sound just fine.

How is this for a video series idea... SCRAPYARD WARS: HOME THEATRE EDITION?
Say $500 (or some relatively small amount) to build the best home theatre system.
I know this setup is really cool and all, but each one of those bookshelf speakers costs more than my entire "home theatre" setup, and most people can't expect to be given amazing stuff by companies wanting advertising.
Ok. Super late reply here but oh well. I built a seriously kickass system using used, thrift store, and DIY components. I have *MAYBE* $100 into it at the absolute most and it's a full 5.1 system that goes louder than I will ever need it to and sounds incredible. Research audio brands and then hit thrift stores; they have no idea how to price good audio equipment and people are always getting rid of it, so you can get REALLY good stuff for hilariously cheap. Just have to know what to check in used stuff. The main amp I got for free from a best buy recycle bin (asked the manager if I could have it and he said go for it, works great), I have a separate home theater amp just for the subs (two 10" ones I bartered from my HS auto teacher). I made the sub box out of plywood, and it has some seriously thicc bass. The main speakers were all collected over time from thrift stores and people giving them away. Get whatever you can find at first and then always keep an eye out for upgrades; takes seconds to swap components or add more. You would not believe how good of a system you can get for next to nothing.
Used audio gear is next to worthless unless it is a sought after or rare piece, like a classic McIntosh. My entire stereo (up until I did mostly new stuff a while back) cost about $500 and it was incredible. To make it challenging, it should be more like $200. Although you can still make a sick two channel system with a set of bookshelves and a receiver for that.
@@MicahS70T5M You're forgetting a screen or projector etc.
Ser Garlan Tyrell good point, I forget about the HT aspect of it since I only really do music. :)

That is a true masterpiece of editing. It's not only hilarious, but also artistic. It goes from a normal YT video, to a british comedy, through a sitcom and back to the YT video. It's storytelling though editing. The editor tells a completely seperate story, just by using cuts and effects. And the best thing is that we can still watch the video with full understanding.

I love these unscripted DIY type videos. Let’s Linus show off his hilarious personality.

LinisTichTips
Yep, and I love the decision to include the projector. I was watching previous videos on my projector and the contrast between them sitting in front of a "tiny" 65" TV while I was watching on a 150" screen was pretty funny to me. What's really funny is that in some scenes their TV would be displayed as bigger on my wall than it was in real life :D
My projector is only 1080p though, but at 4.2m away (that's the distance I'm watching from) it's absolutely perfect and the difference between 4k and 1080p would be barely noticeable.
So if anyone is planning on buying a 4k projector then it's possible to save yourself a lot of money and go with 1080p one with little to no change in quality.
Also what I found is that 3LCD projectors are brighter and have much better colors than DLP projectors, also they have constant brightness across the whole color spectrum.
Don't be fooled by 3LCD projector having less lumens than DLP one - those are measured in two different ways - DLP projector's brightness is the brightness of color white so it's the absolute maximum this type of projector can have, and in most scenes it's much, much less, sometimes even half of that.
3LCD projector brightness is the brightness of any single color or a combination of colors, and that's always (more or less) constant.
For example I've seen a UA-cam test comparing a 7000 lumen 3LCD projector vs 7500 lumen DLP one, and the real brightness of the 3LCD was 7000, while DLP only had 4000 lumens.
Only Linus upgrades the upgrade before the upgrade is done.

Laying in the opposite corner of the room getting punched in the face by giant ass beats... I'd try that.
"What the hell happened to you fj?"
Uhh... An elliphant with frickin Major Lazers kicked my ass.
Listening to bass boosted music on decents sub actually sounds pretty shitty. You're better of listening to the normal song an bumping up the bass on the receiver a little. You'll have the same amount of bass and it sounds way better.
@@FreakyNinjaNL This is true. If you have a "good" hifi system, you don't listen bass boosted crap cause it sounds pretty shit. Just turn up the lows at your Reciever for Subwoofer Output or turn up the gain on the sub itself (if it is a aktive one).
@@FreakyNinjaNL Indeed, Bass boosted songs rarely have a good sounding bass, its just cranked way to high and ends up being a bad signal instead so you cant turn the volume up as high. Of course there are some exceptions but the majority of them sounds shit.

Last time I checked on that subject and it was a while ago. You need to test which way is better. Forward facing, toward each other facing or toward the listening position facing. It depends on the room you are in and how far away the speakers are.
In my case I found the rears were better facing forward in one house and toward each other in another. The fronts have always sounded best pointed at the listening position.
