- The Luoba are known by other names such as Bokar, a sub group of Adi tribe in India's Arunachal Pradesh. In Tibet, they live in Lhunze and Mainling counties near the river of Yarlung Zangbo or Siang/ Brahmaputra in India. The population of Bokar is around 4100 as per 2010 and they practice Shamanism. They speak
Bokar language that falls under Tani linguistic group of Abotani ancestry. Lhoba (Code: LB) is the officially designated name of Bokar and Idu Mishmi tribes in China which is recognized together under one nomenclature. LB is a recognized ethnic group among 56 ethnics in China where Han is the majority. Lhoba is, however, considered to be a pejorative term used by Tibetans which needs to be change. Lhoba groups in the historical times did not submitted to Tsongstan/Songsten Gampo, the founder of Tibetan Buddhist empire. Therefore, due to climate of persecution and subjugation by the newly established Tibetan Buddhism, large number of these ethnics migrated down to the riverine tract along the Yarlung Zangbo. Today, they comprises nearly one million population tracing their roots to Abotani ancestry and Donyi Polo faith in Assam, India. * no copyright * just for information and educational purpose.

The man in this video is speaking bokar language of the arunachal Pradesh. Bokar is minor language spoken by the libo, ramo and bokar tribes of the West siang district of arunachal Pradesh. The people resides here in the place called as mechuka, monigong, etc. I belong from the bokar tribe and I can understand what toto (grand father) is teaching his aao (son or grand son). I wish to meet them someday. I have been taught that after Indo - China war most of the bokar tribes moved to some part of China. I am glad that I can speak this language and will pass on to the generations.
