      So true! I started this journey by searching for information about INFP. Two months later, I’m now an ENFP and trying to re-type all my friends too... the further down the rabbit hole that I go, the more relevant the information! Mind blown! Though I’m not too surprised, seeing as how I am making this all up in my mind anyway ;)

    Our journeys were shockingly similar. ENTP, Who first typed INFJ, then INTJ.
    I had an INTJ Dad who tried to require that I be like him and I even chose a TJ Dominated career. But, I didn’t really even care about type much until middle age. I was too busy working like an INTJ to make bank until I almost crashed. At THAT point, I figured I needed to figure out who I really am and do it, better.

    So are you essentially saying that all these functions are “active” at once but our awareness of them is fractionally divided?
    Also, do you believe that the concept of individualization is also a good starter towards enlightenment?
    I find when I think of others intentions or the anxiety I feel when doing things in front of others (inferior Se and Ne nemesis), I find calmness when I think of them as just another part of my human experience, my own individual experience. This helps me not to take the experience so seriously and just observe things as they are.
    You said the purpose of INFJ’s was to improve people. What would be the purpose of INTJs, to improve systems? To improve others thinking about systems? To present a well thought out idea to a group in need?
    Sorry, for all the questions, I’m really interested in these lectures.

      You got that right. I'm an INTJ and I'm constantly trying to improve traditions, families tendencies of sticking to the outdated ways over better ways, looking for the best way of doing things over settling for the good enough.

    from my personal observation, Xi functions synthesize something inside(inner world), while Xe functions absorb things from outside(external world)
    Q: this is how functions play out right?
    Extraversion = Sending
    Introversion = Receiving
    Q: the Inferior is fear & insecurity. If my 4th function is Si. I have a fear of experiencing new things, correct? But isn't Si memory/past?
    i like to think Si as a function that deals with info internally, by internally, i mean inside the mind. In addition with existing memories inside the mind (past experiences), Si manages these info/events internally.
    Nice video! keep up the good work :)

    23:45 Looking back over the years, it has worked out like that. Young Fe inferior INTP, confused by feeling other's feelings, thinking they were mine, and broadcasting those back, even getting (for example) headaches and leg cramps from others, swamped by indifference and negativity (mine included).
    Maybe, in my early 30s, I knew that I had to be positive and broadcast My positive feelings, or else... Hard work! and, yes, very scary. Much easier now, except that's extraverted activity, especially around other people. I stiil need to be careful not to go beyond a time limit.
    I'm thinking a good start (a possible technique) is to always remember a question. What is that person feeling about what I'm broadcasting? for Fe inferior.
    For Fi demon, What am I feeling? At least a trickle of consciousness begins, and leads to my feelings having equal value as others. They are more important because that's where the rubber meets the road, my responsibility. When the oxygen mask drops in the airplane, put yours on first or else you'll never be able to help others.

    Can you ever have more developed spectrum on 'fps' of a function lower in order then the one above it? If one works on that specific function.
    Or if one works on a lower function more ignoring the function above then can it supersede that function above? Or will it also naturally improve the function above?

  • @davspa6

    Thank you for this work. I've not seen them divided into the eight sections like you have it.
    One thing I have not seen yet in your videos, (seen only about five of them) do you address the four types of personalities - NT, NF, SP, SJ? Also I had read that the N/S is how you gather information. The T/F are the preferred decision functions. Then if you order your outer world using decision functions you are a J If your decisions are made internally, and outer is for information gathering, then you are a P.

    Does this mean that you can only be in your introverted/extraverted ego/subconscious/shadow dependent on whether you're around other people or not? For example, as an ISFJ, am I only in my ego when I'm alone and do I switch to my ENTP subconscious or ESFP shadow when I'm with other people? I think it's more complicated than how I'm describing it now, but still curious.

    Chase I want to make sure I'm grasping this as it's completely shifting my understanding of what cognitive functions were based on the prior videos in the season to this point. Going into this I had came to the conclusion that our ideal goal of enlightenment was to be able to utilize all 4 sides of the mind in harmony understanding when and how to use each one. Each side of the mind had strengths and weaknesses based on the type that was there but I thought that we'd generally want to stay in our Ego & our Subconscious primarily. I also thought that the Shadow/Unconscious & Super Ego primarily held the weaknesses associated with those type they represented because the nature of the names of the functions themselves. Now if I understand correctly, we can and should use the Shadow/Unconscious and we can use it in a positive manner it just takes much more energy to do so, and the same can be said about the Subconscious. Is this correct?
    Also, I get that we're all in tune with all 8 cognitive functions just on different frequencies in this hierarchical order from Hero down to Demon but we're sending and receiving these signals. Over the course of our life we're all exposed to events time that allow us to be able to develop these functions and understand them more, some quicker than others which is generally from top to bottom because we just have more awareness/connection to those functions and so it takes less time/events to be able to develop them. However, it isn't always the case that we develop them in the descending order, as we could develop the Child before our Parent for example, as the events in our lives didn't cause us to enter adverse situations allowing us to act responsible and grow and develop that function. Is this correct or is the latter half of this human nurture as opposed to nature?
    Again awesome video though and looking forward to watching all of these and undergoing the process of mastering this!

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 років тому +2

      answer is yes, but the order of the functions doesn't matter, you need to look at the functions like electrons and protons. Or a solar system.

    I'm sorry if this is a little disorganized. I'm trying to get everything sorted out.
    1- You mentioned that people can be forced to spend time outside of their ego for various reasons. Is it possible that if someone spends enough time outside of his/her ego that the other cognitive functions can become strong enough to rival the ego functions?
    2- In other videos you've said that "conditions" such as autism and ADHD are not medical issues, but rather more prevalent personality types' intolerance to other personality types. Could these "conditions" be examples of given traits being excessively dominant in a given personality type?
    3- How do you explain concepts such as narcissism and psychopathy? Does this relate back to a person being forced to spend time outside of their ego due to various external stimuli?
    Looking forward to your answers!

      1. Depends, usually no, unless they have developed those sides of their mind. 2. Potentially but statistically no. I do not deny such conditions exist but there are far few than we realize. 3. Human nurture.

That's like saying a cat can be a dog or vise versa it's unfathomable to think that a person can do that . What is your reasoning on this topic ?

    Common sense dictates that frames per second undeniably gets higher with time because compare it to leveling up in a game. The higher the level, the more experience you would need to get other next level. Therefore a higher frame rate. Either that or when you are at a higher level, the decisions you would be making would be at a "higher level" or just have more "weight" behind them, and would net you more experience anyway so there would be no need for a high consistent fps, but IMO it's both. You get more raw fps through decision making, depending on how "big" the decision, and your overall running frame rate upgrades with time. Or you were just born with a high frame rate as a child.
    And the whole "demon will eat your fellow man up" thing. Due to us losing our way with who we really are due to, like you aptly put, our soul being corrupted. I didn't let my soul get corrupted, my ego is too big to let the world program me. So I can control all 4 sides of my mind including demon, without it doing anything that I don't want it to do as it grows stronger and stronger but that's also because I have the Quran as a benchmark, to guide my progress. And it's the ultimate benchmark as it was divinely inspired.
    Because you see, Chase, the malignancy that exists inside our soul towards our fellow man is there for a reason. It needs to be CHANNELED properly. You know how some of the Prophets of God prayed that their people be destroyed because there was no hope for them and then God destroyed them? Yes. Perhaps, this is what the demon exists for. To destroy. When you absolutely need to. And remember when you said that the demon is a "reset" part of the mind so to speak? To start a new beginning? You see the connection? 😈

    Hey, I was wondering if you could tell me where your understanding of introversion and extraversion come from. Sending and receiving is an interesting idea for those, but I've always understood it as, "Merging," and, "Matching." Extroversion being merging into the outside world around you, and introversion being to match the object of focus (whether that originates internally or externally) against something internal.
    So for example, you see a tree. Wow! Look at that tree! It's right there! Look at the way the light reflects off the leaves, and every tiny detail of the bark! This is how I understood extraversion from psychological types.Merging with reality around you. Introversion, I understood to mean disconnection from the outside world, and working with information you have internally. So for the tree example, you might see a tree. It reminds you of a tree that was in your childhood home. This brings up (anxiety / warm feelings depending on the childhood.) You're no-longer connected with that literal tree in the outside world. You've disconnected with it and are focused on something internal.
    Obviously there's never a complete, full disconnect from the outside world. You do both at all times. But, it is possible to get pretty close! The Ni - Ti loop is a fantastic example of getting /close/ to a full disconnect. You perceive a pattern, or a pattern break from information you already have. You make an objective, impersonal judgement about that idea. The output of this is choice 1. You perceive a pattern, or a pattern break about choice 1. You make a conscious, objective choice about choice 1, creating choice 2. And so on. Note, these do not expand into multiple possibilities, they refine. Over, and over, and over again. This is how the Ni - Ti loop feels. Now how this relates, is that in this process loop of perception and judgement, you aren't actually taking in much information from the outside world at all. This can cause you to create complex, intricate thought structures in Ti with profoundly low amounts of information. The lack of evidence in itself can be used to do this. This is where the INFJ's, "They just know shit with like, no information," thing comes from. It's not literal, metaphysical luck. It's that pattern recognition is really powerful. When I'm like this, I can zone out for quite a while. But, I can still usually manage to drive home in one piece. I usually don't remember the drive, but I DO make it home which means obviously I was sensing information about the outside world and making choices about it, even though my active brain was engaged in an entirely internalized loop.
    Does this fit into your understanding of introversion and extraversion? Would you consider this accurate? Perhaps the a different angle view on the same object? Or would you consider this a flawed, inaccurate understanding?

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 років тому

      The first paragraph being your explanation seems to be an explanation of Se vs. Si. The Se of the tree then it becomes totem with which a reference point is utilized to remember the past with Si. As far as my definition of introversion vs. extraversion, I prefer the Berensian way of approaching it which is initiating (extraversion) vs. responding (introversion).

    • @talvmonster5326
      @talvmonster5326 6 років тому

      C.S. Joseph I was using Se and Si as examples, yes! My understanding was that the same merging / matching relationship applied to the other three functions as well. I will read into Linda berens some and see if I can't get a better idea what's going on. I've always wanted to understand better how Extraverted functions (for example, Fe) are functioning when there isn't another human being around. I suppose you could feed it with information from the past or future, but surely someone's extraverted, present in the moment hero function has other methods of valuing than the values of others. That said, I can't think of another external source. Perhaps just circumstances?
      Anyhow, this gives me a good direction to go. Thanks!

    Have you heard of Leon from the Type Tips channel? He has some meaty stuff about MBTI, Socionics etc. One of his theories was that (at least for INFPs he mentioned (and INTPs)) our 6th function (Ni) is stronger than the 5th (Fe) and our 8th function (Ti) is stronger than the 7th (Se).
    So basically the order of our unconscious mind based on strength not the usual order would be Ni Fe Ti Se. Well it probably applies to all types.
    But I was wondering if you knew about that, and if the strength of the functions, not their order would effect the four sides of the mind and/or alters anything else basically.

Does the ESFP subconscious side of the mind change fps for the cognitive functions? I mean will the Se inferior then be upgraded from 25fps to 100fps, and the Fi child change from 50fps to 75 fps for the period of time he/her is aspiring in their subconscious? This definition of 'Ni = willpower' is very odd to me and not sure where you've got it from. It can't be from your own experience if you're apparently an Ne dominant - it doesn't get anywhere near to illuminating the depth and mysticism of Ni doms though. Maybe you are linking it to the 'chart the course' interaction style. I still wouldn't say that's the real crux of the IN*J, rather merely a facet of the temperament.
    This is from Carl Jung's 'Collected Works Vol 6: Psychological Types - Ch X p.505': 'Intuition, in the introverted attitude, is directed upon the inner object, a term we might justly apply to the elements of the unconscious....Inner objects appear to the intuitive perception as subjective images of things, which, though not met with in external experience, really determine the contents of the unconscious, i.e. the collective unconscious in the last resort.'
    That's just a broad brush stroke portrayal of Ni's constantly changing perspectives but out of this inner world comes our ability to foresee implications, to be prescient and to see through people's facades, all of which for some reason you're saying that only Ne has the ability to do. But we wouldn't make a very good 'sage' or prophet kind of archetype if we were rubbish at pre-vision would we?!
    Person A: Go and see the sage in the village - he's always worth talking to.
    Person B: * Excitedly * If he's so wise, will he be able to tell me what's likely to happen with the situation I mentioned to you?
    Person A: No - he's crap at stuff like that but he can see his plans through really well!
    Person B: Oh.
    [Have used 'he' but obviously could be 'she' either]
    Again let's see what the man himself, Jung, has to say about Ni prescience:
    'Since the unconscious is not just something that lies there, like a psychic caput mortuum, but is something that coexists and experiences inner transformations which are inherently related to general events, introverted intuition, through its perception of inner processes, gives certain data which may possess supreme importance for the comprehension of general occurrences: it can even foresee new possibilities in more or less clear outline, as well as the event which later actually transpires. Its prophetic pre-vision is to be explained from its relation to the archetypes which represent the law-determined course of all experienceable things.' (Collected Works Vol 6: Psychological Types - Ch X p.508)
    So it doesn't at all seem that the collective has an incorrect understanding of Ni as I've seen you comment before. Jung's explanation above is why I have always been so good at analysing and then making predictions - whether political or otherwise. However you seem to be defining 'prescience' in too narrow a way so that you set up strawman arguments like 'You [INFJ] can't see into other people's futures'. We have never claimed to do such a thing but neither do I think that I'm good at seeing into my OWN future as you say we can. I have pre-vision in a more general sense - let's say, situationally - e.g. I'll be able to accurately state what will happen to a society if such and such a thing continues. I actually predicted much of what's happening politically across the West, particularly in Western Europe, from about 15 years ago. Depressingly it's all turning out exactly as I said particularly in my own country (I'm not from the US). I can also say what will happen in other people's relationships if the parties continue with their current behaviours, which is why I'm good at giving sensible relationship advice. All this is what Jung's getting at above. Why do you think that INTJ (I knew he was one before he even stated he was) UA-camr StyxHexenHammer666 has 248 000 subscribers at the moment? Yes he is entertaining and has amusing idiosyncrasies but it's mainly because of his predictive/analytical capabilities with politics - he ends up being right about most things that he said from about a year back. He keeps saying things like 'Just you watch...' and 'You see if I'm not right about this'. I very much relate to that mindset as an INFJ. I've watched him since Trump got elected which he predicted more or less spot on state by state. Another huge part of being IN*J is that we have epiphanies and flashes of insight in which the answer to a problem just lands in our heads and we have no clue how it got there - we didn't go through a step by step process. Ni has been working in the background to solve it for us without us consciously thinking about it.
    Ne is essentially about having multiple ideas and going from subject to subject (novelty); this explains its creativity and its characteristic 'scattergun' nature. However Ni is actually the most metaphysical function of them all whilst, ironically, there being a rational explanation as to how it derives its conclusions. Here's a good article by Dr. A. J. Drenth which discusses our 'Ah-ha!' moments of insight and gut level sense that we 'just know' something - any IN*J will recognise these notions: personalityjunkie.com/10/introverted-intuition-ni/
    I hope this post is useful to someone as on this channel about 80% of the complexity and interest of IN*Js is being left out and anything metaphysical and quirky is being credited to Ne which is laughable. And no I'm not in the ENFP side of my mind permanently as I don't act like an ENFP. IN*Js are not just about willpower/self-control - that would make a very boring person indeed. I wonder if some of the confusion is that people at large just don't realise what we can do because our intuition is introverted so you don't see it happening unlike Ne which is outwards directed - you can see Ne happening in real time. But it doesn't mean that Ni is not a fascinating and multifaceted process - it just can't be seen.
    Specifically related to this video: I personally have no problem multi tasking - most women are good at this due to evolutionary reasons. It's true that IN*Js reduce the multiple to the singular in terms of ideation but on a day to day practical level we don't have any problems juggling tasks particularly at work - we have multiple tabs open in our heads at once. I am actually a busy bee at work who works very quickly, doing the work of at least one and a half people 'cause I don't stand around talking like SF women. I wouldn't get anywhere in my job if I could only do one thing at a time seeing as I usually work alone in the whole building with no team mates and still have to ensure everything gets done. If what you said was true then IN*Js could barely even do the most low paid of jobs.

      @Wool Well said. Observing a fact makes it more likely to happen. Ni can absolutely predict other's people future (their own even better I would say). It is a subjective understanding of the world. In contrast Ne users will remove themselves from their perception of metaphysics. Ne seeks pure ideation. Ni seeks singularisation.
      As an INTP I feel like my (or others) Ni will always "lose" to my (or others) Ne because of the infinitely emergent nature of the world. Ni singularisation can only be temporary or local. Even if it manifests in the physical world 100% (Which makes Ni immensely useful anyway).
      I would agree that say C.S Joseph doesn't understand Ni very well as a self-denying ENTJ.
      The most interesting Ni-Dom I have come across recently is JF Gariepy's prediction that humanity will wipe itself out of existence through genetic enhancements, and it has already begun. I highly recommend his show The Public Space here on youtube.

      Hi there! I am happy to encounter your question! For me, being aware of the existence and difference of the subconciousess, unciousness, and superego really redefines my understanding of how cognitive functions are laid out. The diagram of 4 sides of the mind with axis and orbit visually speaks for itself and helps people memorize it better. Being aware that there are 4 gateways is much more useful than just knowing 8 functions stack in a row in socionics, or only 4 functions in MBTI. Neither of these two demonstrates a practical way of how to decide which function should i improve on. It also sent a strong sense of peace knowing the frequency per second. It allows me to feel more self worth and stop being jealous when i see someone act way faster and better in an area (for example Se doms or parents)! It helps me feel a lot better about myself. It opens a door for me to create a straetegy for improving and creating the next steps or dealing with a setback :))!

Knowing the existence of super ego really shines light on our awareness of our demonic behaviors. This awareness helps us tremendously in reflecting on ourselves if we made a big mistake like doorslaming and etc. One question in my head constantly before I found this channel was "How does each coginitive function works and what order? Can I control it intentionally? How strong is each cognitive function? When I was a child I was so focused to be - let's say - compatible with other people that I didnt even knew who I was; that's why people tell me a lot that i have changed now that I am actually 15 because I just discovered all of this so I am actually who I AM. I used to go into ISFJ and then become really sick from stress, which started affecting my heart and cholesterol and a bunch of weird shit, and then I'd go back into INTJ for a few more months and then the cycle would repeat. This is fascinating, I dunno if that's possible but that's my guess.

    Perhaps I’m misunderstanding but it seems the more fps the demon gets the worse it becomes and the more troubles it causes? So how exactly would one develop or control the demon function. I believe you’re saying our demon functions would take over the world and ruin it so hypothetically speaking is it better to stay out of that half of our cognitive functions in order to avoid giving our demon more fps?

    • @CSJoseph
      @CSJoseph  6 років тому +1

      No the fps doesn't change, the fps is just bandwidth, its when you focus on that channel, aka the demon channel or spectra.

      C.S. Joseph sorry I worded it wrong, I meant to say that over time the frames for the demon function add up and end up causing problems. Is there any way to tame or develop this function?

      Ashley Nunez yes, slowly feed it over time without letting it out of its cage

    Hey there, I have a couple of questions.
    Why is the trickster function thought of as having any fps? Wouldn’t more likely be 0fps? Then the demon has some but less then the critic? Or perhaps the demon also has 0fps but is just lurking waiting to be triggered unless your able to operate in your unconscious?
    Or perhaps, the the fps of the lower functions can increase a little if maybe the person tries to develops aptitude in a facet of themselves they would not normally be good at?
    Oh, and if you are in your unconscious does that mean, for example, an INTJ’s demon switches from Si to Se ?

      When you're in the super-ego your demon would be 100fps and on upwards in reverse.

      Thanks for the reply Monito. But, I’m sorry, I’m not certain what you mean by ‘on upwards in reverse’. Do you mean the function that is the ‘hero function’, (ie the first station when you’re in your ego), effectively then becomes the least effective function when the demon function is triggered?

    • @Zolluzione
      @Zolluzione 5 років тому

      @@webkelpie Correct, your functions do a flip with the 8th becoming the 1st, 7th becoming 2nd, 6th becoming 3rd and 4th and 5th switching. If your in control of your functions in that order you're more angelic, but if your functions are in control of you, you're more demonic in nature.

    • @webkelpie
      @webkelpie 5 років тому

      Ah, okay. So...
      If you’ve been pushed in to your demon state, does that mean if you then get ‘prodded’, (or possibly kicked), in your new 8th function, (the one that would have normally been your hero function), you’re likely to go straight back to your original ego setup, (although possibly in a bit of a more broken state than before)?

    so in this video you say if you have too much experience in yer demon function then you would eventually only want to figure out how to undermined your fellow man........ buuuuuhhhhhhttt........ if you are using yer demon function when emulating as someone else wouldnt that just develop your demon function? and in turn giving it more "exp" which means speeds up the process of mans limit of said demon? just a thought i got whilst watching this for the first time.......

    You said previously that a personality type can't change, did you mean that for example you, an Entp can't become an intp. Or that an Entp can't permanently reside in one of its 3 sub personalities permanently.

      Both, with the exception of one case of extreme physical head trauma where parts of of the individual's brain was severely damaged.

    So let’s say an infj is extroverting with their enfp unconscious for example. When extroverting, how close are they to an actual enfp? Is there even a distinction between the two? And doesn’t that mess up compatibility because enfps are the least compatible with each other, but most compatible with infjs? So how am I supposed to attract enfps if I am extroverting as an enfp, or am I still close to my ego while extroverting? Because you say that when infjs extrovert they are either using their unconscious or subconscious, but can’t they just extrovert in their ego if they are compatible enough with someone? You talk about how it can be mentally draining to use the other sides of our mind, but you don’t exactly specify how well we can use them. Based on what I’ve learned, we could be just as enfp like as an enfp. But again wouldn’t that mess up compatibility, especially in a group setting where we are more inclined to use our enfp side? I guess my question is as an infj how close can I get to being an actual enfp or estp even for a short amount of time? Is it 5%? 20%? 90%? This seems extremely important to me in regards to compatibility
