A lot of space, true... I cut a piece off the internal space wallpaper carton thingy and put that on the inside of the box to cover the hole. The whole box itself has become the container of all my X-Wing and Armada cards (which I keep, seperated by types of different upgrades/ships in small plastic containers). I like what Feldherr did for the Imperial Box, two sets of storage foam with small pockets that can store everything you get with the base game.
Nice unboxing vid. I enjoy my X-wing well enough that I can't see me getting into this game as well but I can just see that star destroyer sitting on top of one of my speakers staring down the millennium falcon on the other side.
I'll never understand FFG packaging either. But I agree it at least gives you a big box to add in your own organization. By the way, if you cut down the bottom of the ship plastic container you can fit two in the box. So until expansions come you can get two sets in one box easy enough.
Seeing the game 5 years on, the box is JUST big enough to fit a fleet of large ships. The ships in the core set are small and medium ships, but when you get expansions, the large ships take up a lot of room in the box. Ive moved to outside storage. Exceptionally good game though
The thing about fantasy flight is never seem to get an insert, just transit packaging really. At least it gives you an excuse to cut up some more foamcore :)
That's a lot of space, but yeah, it can be useful. Get a box for cards, tools, etc, and three layers of foam bricks to fill it to the max. As you get new ships, just carve up the foam bricks to make container space for the models. It's a very different style of game, surprisingly.

Good idea!

Mine arrives tomorrow! Can't wait to do what you just did :)
I was lucky enough to catch and Amazon sale and got 2 core sets for the price of one. Looking forward to getting this on the table soon.
Wish I'd got that deal!

As if I need an excuse! :) Though I'm actually always happy when I get a game with a good insert because I don't have to make one.
Would have been nice if they supplied a 9 piece board inside that box, then two players with the game can make a 6x3 larger board for the expansions.

Nice. Of course, the day inevitably comes when you run out of box space ... :)
I gonna have this next week I'm so exited!!
:) It's a fun game, enjoy!
Is that big star specked cardboard piece you tossed useful as a starter set board
+E Lew No, it's not big enough for that - it's just a piece of cardboard that takes up a large amount of the empty space in the box. :)
aw, to bad. Thanks!
Any chance at seeing a Batrep between you and Wil?
Not sure. I must admit I've only played a few games and it hasn't yet grabbed me...
It's like you get ever game just a few days after I do lol!
Creepy isn't it? ;)
Are you guys doing this because of the Star Wars Anaheim event going on?
I didn't even know there was an event - besides, I'm in New Zealand! :)
Heh, just got to that part, so gg. They just released the 2nd Teaser Trailer for the movie, and then for the game soon!
Looking good isn't it? I believe FFG has the licence for the new film too, so we may see games based on it.
Mhmm. I can't wait! I'm also glad that they're coming out with some more episodes for SW the Clone Wars.
