Straight facts no bs, thanks for a stellar review as I’m looking for one of these. I got all the information I was looking for thanks. Doesn’t look super difficult to work on, those turbos are literally in front of your face when you take that plastic cover off.
I have about the same car just in the short wheel base. A brake job diy realistically costs about $1200 all around with good quality parts. I’m at 110,000 now and fortunately no serious issues. Keeping up with the preventative maintenance makes a huge difference. Suspension rattles at 100k+ miles is pretty accurate, but no air ride issues. The SWB is the same platform as the S8 so it’s a bit more nimble than the L. Overall great car, I don’t regret buying it. I’m the second owner since 35k miles and 2017.
Owend a d3 a8l. They are challenging for the first time but very capable. Everything you said were facts. Keep up on maintenance and she will treat you very well. Its a land yacht that is great for long trips.
The D4 Audi A8L is a ton of car for the money. I was looking at S7's and for less money I could get the A8L with the 4.0TT which for some reason is faster than the S7. No it's not as pretty but the A8L gives me lotsa room and luxury while it floats down the road in ways the S7 and most other cars cannot. Yes theres the 7 series Bimmer but those scare me both looks wise and reliability wise. The S-Class is arguably nicer than the A8L but again its a bunch more money new or used. The A8L sport with the 4.0TT hit the sweet-spot for me. Mine has been trouble free and I am glad to see here that they have been solid reliable for others as well. Keeping mine a lot longer I think and gonna add a tune here shortly!!
I've owned a 2015 A8l 3.2l for about 5 years now. I've had the brakes and rotors replaced and still have a shudder coming from the front driver wheel. I've replaced all of the wheel bearings. Those P0 tires that they come with are loud! With all that said, I do love the car. I am looking forward to your maintenance and mods for this car. I have searched for years for things I can do to it and haven't found much other than putting S8 parts on the car. I do have a component to add Android auto and carplay to the car while keeping the OEM look. You got a new subscriber from me.

Ive heard about those P0's. I had a VW that came with Continental ContiPros and those are some of the hardest tires on the market; helps a lot with mileage but stopping is another story. Softer compounds are advised.
Hello…I am in forest lake Mn… I have a 2013 Audi A8 4.0T and I got an APR stage 1 tune and WOW. It is one fast rocket ship . I had the tune done at Further performance shop in Minneapolis . Love your videos.
I’ve got a 2013 S8, I love the car. It’s an exceptional car, I do my own breaks too. Not going to lie thinking of getting rid of my air suspension. Not sure how much it is.
Im getting one in the next couple of days im 22 years old . It has been my dream car . These nights i ve been looking at videos that scared me off , but the dream is so big im still going for it . Hopefully it will be good 💯
So I just got a 2015 Audi A8 4.0T with 49,500 miles 3 weeks ago. Initially, the car was super smooth in the past 2 weeks. However, I noticed a shuddering and steering wheel vibration within the past week. This only occurs when doing turns at slow speeds; it feels like the Quattro system is the culprit because it feels as tho it’s coming from the four wheels and is more noticeable during cold starts. The car is currently at the dealership, and I’m being told that’s “normal.” My previous car was an Audi A6 prestige with about 45,000 miles, and I never felt any shuddering when doing turns at low speeds. How’s your vehicle when doing any turns?
Hello again… I had a Stage 1 tune done on my car before my turbo screen recall, so I called Audi and told them I had a stage1 tune and I was still able to get my turbo screen recall done, which I was surprised to hear.😊
Thank you, everything you said is kind of common for used vehicles. Considering an S8 because of the engine as well. And yes, depreciation will definitely help me with the purchase
Same man. With 75k, you should be getting it at a great price but pleeeease be thorough with how the maintenance was handled. I've heard of new used purchases costing big $$$.
Just bought a 2015 S7, so same engine. Looking forward to your videos about it. Mine has 60k miles and when I scanned it, it said my motor mount should be replaced. I saw some DIY guides for the 3.0T. Have you looked into it? Is it similar for the 4.0T is as far as replacing the mount?
I did read into it a bit ago. I remember reading the front passenger side is typically the one that needs to be replaced. I also recall it being a pain, just because of the amount of stuff that needs removal, but still doable. I plan to do some suspension stuff and plugs in a few thousand miles. I will check it out when it's on the lfit next.
Great video! Just purchased a 2015 S8. Motor mounts already replaced along with upper and lower control arms. Audi obviously recommends their specific oil, do you use that or a commercial brand? Looking forward to more content on this car and how much would translate to my S8.
Did America ever get the v8 tdi? Just sold my 2016 4.2 V8 diesel and it’s an amazing mile muncher. Hasn’t got the sprinting ability of the turbo petrol, but it’s hill climbing, towing, roll on acceleration leaved my 2010 S8 for dead. Diesel was also 100% reliable where the S8 was fun, but niggly engine issues (thankfully no turbo issue) spoilt the picture. Go find yourself a V8 tdi, just a mild tune takes it to just over 400hp, but importantly over 1000nm torque…and we all know its torque that affects how drivable a car is
Common issue, it was a recall. During inspection on oil filter recall if turbos are not perfect and show any flaws, a good dealer will fight for new ones. The turbos are warranty because of this 10 year 120k.
@@PerformanceOnWheels wow. That's a major difference between my little '18 2.0t Passat R-Line 5K and that monster 4.0T powerplants 5K. So basically more oil changes. That 5K would come quick in Ga where everything is so spread out and lane changing is always a competition...sigh.
Thanks for posting, I am considering an a8/s8 and found this very helpful. Good luck with making it an ultimate sleeper.
I had this model too, fully loaded. An exceptional vehicle with no issues, good luck! 👍🏼
