The GM 305 is a gutless wonder. When the lifters stick and click it’s almost trashed. Pick up a crate 350 and swap it, Edelbrock intake and carb, MSD HEI distributor etc strip off all that emissions junk and make it reliable and powerful. Rebuild the transmission while the engine’s out. Rebuild the front suspension too, ball joints bushings etc and especially those coil springs. Do it once and do it right if you want to earn bragging rights
