There is a big fat “why” that needs to be asked

Because it's his and he can, and with fresh paint, interior, and some nice rims this car will be more reliable and cleaner than any new piece of shit

@@justinheardG95 fair enough. Except for the “more reliable than a new car”. No way any car from the 80’s is more reliable than a car today. Cars run forever now. That car when new you were lucky to get 3 years out of the sheet metal before rotting away. Yes I understand an LS is an amazing engine, but when dumped it into a heap……..

@@MrMarkpark if he were to put about 30k into this it would be much more reliable than anything you could go buy brand new for 30k. Older cars were made to last, what are you talking about 3 years, that metal last way longer and is a lot stronger than and fiberglass body built today

I got an 84 Malibu with the short trunk that's just been sitting for 10 years primed, it has no damage to the body or frame, but I have a 2012 Honda in same yard that has all kinds of issues with the body because fiberglass cracks in the sun after years, trust me on this older cars are much more reliable when putting money into them than anything new besides newer trucks, cars nowadays are shit

@@justinheardG95 they might have been built with the intent to last, but they really didn’t. Those older cars all died or fell apart before 100k. They all rotted out in a few years in the coastal or road salt states. New cars don’t rot out ever. No matter where they are.
Steel bodies of the day may have been more structurally solid, and thank goodness…… weighing 4k lbs with no ABS and drums in the back. But they don’t last as long as the fiberglass and bullshit composites of today.
You’re making a statement about the lasting quality of 80’s cars, yet saying with a modern LS it’s more reliable than cars today. An LS is a modern engine……. Much like other modern engines today yet you’re saying that put in an older car is going to be more reliable. It’s simply not true. Modern engines can go 250k easily if we chose to hang onto a car for more than 2 years. New cars go 100k before needing any real maintenance other than oil changes. Which incidentally are required on a 7k interval. Try that on an old car.
Mid 70’s to mid 80’s we’re about the worst years for American car quality. I’m not sure I’d ever make a claim for 80’s quality.
