I'd like to see some setups for auto wood farms feeding into sawmills with systems to handle overflows of wood (more wood then the sawmills can handle). I have tested some single feed line setups but always find that a massive amount to wood just cycles in the first few sawmills and/or flows out. I have been avoiding sawmill chains because stacks of wood just kind of sit in the first few sawmills because of the 10 second crafting timer for planks.
funny enough ive been working on that today and ive found out that its much simpler to have 10 seeds to 1 saw because of timers and growth restrictions. my quick maths made me think that with a seed growing as fast as possible 1 saw could keep up with 12 seeds or 18 at its slowest but then you run into the growth limit of 5 tiles so i settled on 10 as acceptable. As for the stacks of items in crafters you can make a system then divides them into 1 and then sends then to any crafter but as the game is now the only option for that is saws and furnaces to make t2 and t3 furnaces run at t1 speed but i think he was saying to add sawmills to the stack pre auto sorter so that any spare wood you get is converted
for me I do make it like 50/50, so if I have 6 wood farm output, the 3 for normal wood go straight into chest while the other 3 gonna go to the sawmill then into the chest, make it balance and it works for me
The next video will have a wood farm with a simple splitter system. So stay tuned :). i am hoping to have it released before i leave for a family trip.

I do think this is all super cool, but I genuinely don't understand why automation even really exists for any of the game. It feels like setting up the automation for almost everything is just not worth the time investment. I think the only automation I found useful in the entire game ended up being wood/plank automation. Sort my inventory? Just run up to chests, press q and move along. Setting up some sort of auto-sorter sounds nice until you consider how much random stuff the game throws at you constantly which means you've got a fairly long sorter chain set up. You step outside for two minutes and your entire inventory fills up and since equipment doesn't stack (except bait?) the chests are going to fill up pretty quickly, or you're running to salvage all the equipment, and then running back to sort it anyway. That being said, the auto-inventory sorter is probably the most appealing out of all of this because my god this game showers you with so much stuff, constantly. Mob farms taking what feels like an eternity to spawn any enemies because of the 16-22 minute timer for spawn events and then having them only work within a 200 tile radius means that they're almost never actually running, or I'm setting up multiple mob farms all over the entire map. The only benefit is honestly that I'm just AFK or tabbed out doing something else for hours on end which again, seems kind of pointless. If mob farms didn't have the forever long spawn timer, it would make sense to me. Ore smelting automation could make sense if boulders were infinite, I guess? Considering you can just walk up to a smelter and deposit a stack of like 10,000 ores into a smelter, or dump them all in a nearby chest and just ctrl+click whatever bar you're working on in the smelter, I just don't see it being useful for the resource and time investment needed to set them up. Automatic wood and plank production felt like basically the only thing that actually made sense in this game, but the need for wood outside from base building materials is pretty scarce. It feels like anything that could actually benefit from automation is blocked by either an in-game timer, maximum proximity, or just not being able to be automated, like plant farming or fishing. The only time I ever ended up using a mob farm was to get one of each of the 3 gemstones. After that it seemed pointless because I could just go kill any of the three hydra bosses for two of the desired gemstones afterwards. Considering those are a 100% drop rate for 2 of them, on essentially a 6 minute CD it immediately rendered my mob farm obsolete.
I guess I must be worse than a child, then, because this was a lot of complicated explanations about logic gates and backfeeds in various different forms, and very little of the explanation I needed for a single early-game set-up that anyone can copy to just pull some ore from a drill into a chest using those automated arm cranes. I'm sure the tech-savvy & the experimenters out there, with a dozen mob & ore farms, will find all of this fascinating, but for a newbie like me? It just makes my head hurt. It makes me want to steer clear of all the tech in the game, despite conveniences, if this is what's considered "so easy even children get it". A list of materials. Do you actually even need the drills for the sorter? Can arms not just place the items in the chest without the next arm grabbing it? Edit: Just kidding, I tested it and immediately found out why lmao. Arms will just take everything out of the chest and move it :P
I have two large chests and two arms moving a single block of dirt forever, a whole complicated delay circuit that makes it only move once every 10 seconds. Because I accidentally did that and said ya know what, I built you guys to move stuff, and this is your purpose now. It's a monument to my failure in common sense lol.
Just saw your edit. But yeah an arm into a chest and out of a chest is very different. It's actually very useful tho. Cause you can instantly move items in arm chains using double chests when you understand how it works. Sometimes it's handy as a trick to change the directions of arms in tight spaces. Especially since you can use a double chest.
Lol . This one is remastered. I wanted to do a simple update video.. but I felt like I would be doing a disservice to people new to the core keeper. This one is more in-depth and includes things the first guide did not.
Around 14:20 - one problem with having the drill butt right up against the arm is that if the drill is ever able to pull an item as far as it can pull it, it will actually get into the base of the arm where it cannot grab it. I don't think this is likely to happen with normal operation, but it's worth mentioning.
I'm not sure why people keep using the advanced drills instead of the simple ones for stuff like this. They work the same for sorting as far as I can tell and are much cheaper.

Thanks. Yeah i here there is a dlc on the horizon for factorio. If there is ill be playing it for sure.
Wait. Didn't I watch this like a week ago? XD
Lol . This one is remastered. I wanted to do a simple update video.. but I felt like I would be doing a disservice to people new to the core keeper. This one is more in-depth and includes things the first guide did not.
i think it takes much less time and effrot and space just to sort it out usual way :DDD
and you can have compact base, with quick access to everything to.
In the beginning i would agree. I started over and i 100 percent hate not having a dump all chest.
iv been playing this game wrong
Make a twitter so I can pay u
make a video of highest DPS builds for each type

"would of" is incorrect. "Would Have" is what you should have (should of? :) written
I changed it loI. Thanks for pointing it out.
the mistake usually stems from people wanting to write would've which is pronounced the same way
Around 14:20 - one problem with having the drill butt right up against the arm is that if the drill is ever able to pull an item as far as it can pull it, it will actually get into the base of the arm where it cannot grab it. I don't think this is likely to happen with normal operation, but it's worth mentioning.
Okay yeah you encountered this a little further in the video, so you are aware already!
Thank you for pointing it out. I hope will pick the design that best works for them. I like the open space design personally.
I'm not sure why people keep using the advanced drills instead of the simple ones for stuff like this. They work the same for sorting as far as I can tell and are much cheaper.
100 percent correct
"... would OF found..."
what is that even supposed to mean?
Time stamp ?
@@DarkxGaming352 Video title
@@rotkehlchen2920 Thank you, I adjusted the title. Writing or reading is a daily struggle for me.
@@DarkxGaming352 That reads perfectly now!
You must be a crazily kind person still reacting so calm and even apologizing while it was me complaining in such a harsh and provocative way. We definitely need more people to take a leaf out of your book to make the internet a better place, including me obviously...
I still think automating in this game is pointless. IF they just released one quality of life update similar to grounded then all of this is blah.
