What a very sad dramatic and rushed ending on Tebaldi´s Butterfly just dying there and omitting totally the furtherly crushing scene of Pinkerton in total despair calling her and just arriving in time so she dies in his arms, while Sharpless sets a protective shield on the little boy to atone him knowing about his mother demise. On Long Luther´s novella, Butterfly attempts kill herself but it ends being botched on by - as she thinks on - Kannon´s divine mercy for her (the Japanese version of Chinese bodisattva of compassion, Guanyin and the Indian Avalokiteshvara too), so she accepts with pain the granted mercy on being ruined her suicide and later on it´s known that she left the house with both her maid Suzuki and the young Trouble, so when Pinkerton´s wife goes to pick-up him none is there and it´s unknown what happened to them but anyway, Pinkerton didn´t got him and she survived finding a way to live for and totally give up on the false illusions she got after his influence.
Thank you for the interesting post. I agree that Callas's performance was superb, but I disagree that 'no other singer has come close' (to Callas). In my view, on the role of M. Butterfly, Anna Motto, Tabaldi, Freni, were just as good, and Lyontyne Price was even better. Perhaps it's because I like warm and lustrous voices, not only the power and drama.
Callas always makes me cry. It’s so pity that her 1955 performance with Di Stefano wasn’t recorded. RIP La Divina.
It’s the ‘Tu, Tu’, where Tebaldi is to my mind unparalleled. She cuts through that heavy orchestration like Nilsson’s Brünnhilde.
Tebaldi Forever...
Magnifico documento, estos grandiosos cantantes se fueron pero siempre nos quedará sus voces magníficas, Thank very much ❤❤❤❤🥰🥰🥰🥰
Merci, merci, merci
Una delle megliori: Licia Albanese.❤❤❤❤
Δεν υποτιμω κανεναν αλλά εμενα με συγκινεί και με μαγεύει η ερμηνεία της ΚΆΛΛΑΣ , η καλύτερη Butterfly διαχρονικά
Very goood, fantastic, 👏👏👏👏👏
VIVA MARIA ! We believe she's really the young girl, how could she "manage" her voice????????

Wonderful! (By the way, I personally like Victoria de los Ángeles best as Madama Butterfly😄 With Tebaldi.)
Bueno quizá alguno o alguna aún vive 😉😉😉😉
