This is such an exquisite song and brings tears to my eyes each time I play it. I chose it for my husband’s funeral, my personal interpretation of the words.Thank you Kristine.

She speaks Russian to the native standard (raised in the Soviet-era Baltic States). Phonetically Russian is very similar to Czech as a Slavic language.

Whenever I listen to her exquisite soprano , sadness is coming
In memory of Mrs Miku Ishida
As the days go by ,
I know that the day to return to Mother Earth is not far away .
My only regret is that I have not heard from you
I'm worried you who have suddenly lost touch with me

Parole e musica struggenti e intense. Bravissima l'interprete.

My Dad loved opera and when my sister got married she wanted a different song to march down the aisle to, my father suggested this and she loved it. Other members of my family (I don't remember if my brother used it but definitely two of my cousins did) used this song as well and it's now the wedding march of my generation in our family. Depending on the size of the wedding party and the length of the aisle, a little creative DJ-ing might have to occur cos the "O moon, stay a while!" 02:24 is the part where the bride herself walks down the aisle.

This performance was notable not only for the lovely singing, but because the director did not ruin it with endless moving shots. He, or she, kept the camera not only still, but not too close up. So many performances are ruined for me by eccentric directors and their bad camera movements. Bravo, or Brava, to the director.

Kristine Opolais is a vivacious and beautiful woman. She is a wonderful singer with a huge talent and she exudes feminine warmth and beauty both on stage and off. As a Czech, I have to say I am pleased - even excited - to hear our beautiful, rare language in whatever medium is on offer. Although opera singing ostensibly hardly resembles conversational language use (it is laughable how different are the two vocal styles) a native of the country will still use the conversational test to detect accurate portrayal of the language by a non-native. Although she does not quite pass this strict test, I admire people like Kristine who can get their Czech to pass for a native, to the casual observer or someone who learned the language in order to live in Prague for a time, having come from another place. She gets an "A" from me nonetheless, because Czech is very difficult due to its many dialects, its intonations, idioms, slangs and correct word pronunciations and vowel sounds. I take off my hat before this amazing woman. Not only does she do a great job, she is really easy on the eyes

De Antonin Dvorak, apresenta Song to the Moon, cantada
