One of the most underrated cars BMW has ever made imo. If properly taken care of the engines are very reliable also.
This one has the rare “Lemon” interior that was available on these and a special order option on pre-LCI E90’s
A good alternative to the BRZ and FR-S if you want less road and wind noise and a bigger back seat. Even if you can't find the rare manual, the automatic isn't nearly the penalty you'd think it would be (unlike the twins). Another great thing about the 1-Series-- it's a coupe where you can actually see over your left shoulder, which is rare for the last 15 years.
Actually they're useless, unless you have toddlers. Other than that I plan on deleting my back seat out of my 128i. Besides I have an Subaru Impreza hatchback if I'm traveling with friends.

Agreed on the Steptronic automatic. I was very surprised how good it was when I rest drove one couple times.

I just bought a 2008 128 6MT w coil overs and m3 sway bars. Unreal awesome! I also own a 2008 M3 and I actually prefer the 128 because I’m not going 200kph between turns on the canyon roads and I can actually row through some gears. On the track though, I still prefer the M ;)

Almost a newer e30 in a way. Crossed shopped this and a 2011 mx5. Went with the mazda, but I always thought about getting one of these. Great cars.
I did the opposite way, shopping for miata and got a 2009 128M sport with no option at all(no sunroof, no keyless entry...) 2 yrs ago at a very good price(cad$6000) . Couldn't be happier.

@@d3admaub938 not too bad after 2 years, only let me down once with the failed vanos control valve. And all those well documented common problems. Good luck.
@@user-li9pf5yr3wif you plan on modding them, or pushing them in any way, a good rule of thumb is having twice the price of the car in savings for repairs. They’re great if you take car of them.

Almost got one of these. Didn't want to worry about PCV valves and the complex suspension on WI roads, but I would pick one up as a weekend blaster for sure.

@@windingroadmagazine They really are super zippy, handle well, sound amazing, get decent MPG, and are surprisingly practical! I got mine CPO 9 years ago and it’s still solid and reliable. I’m planning to upgrade to a GR Corolla next, but in case that doesn’t pan out, it’s gonna be really hard to decide what to replace this with since it’s such a good package.
And of course there's some additional oil in the trunk 😁
I love the e82. I have a e81 myself, 118d 143hp stock, very fun car, and it handles better than e36 and e46
Don’t think it handles better than my 325XI with a complete Sport Pakage…

Disagree and i've driven lots of these, the interior build quality is also terrible on this generation of bmw in general
These 100% handle better than e30-e36 and e46. Modern suspension design does wonders..
Driver side rear view mirror was loose from its back plate. 🤣 Same problem on my 2009
