@Commendatore If I'm not mistaken, its the 1.4 TSI before 2012. In that year they made many changes in the engine for the better. Pratically all the initial problems have been sorted. Here is a more compreensible explanation: vwtuning.co/vw-1-4-tsi-engine-problems/
@@ahmedalabry5970 If your still interested the 1.4 petrol engine with 160 HP is the unreliable one as far as I know it has a Turbocharger and a supercharger which means they suffer from knock as they are always under high boost, apparently if you get higher octane fuel it can prevent it but I would probably avoid it and get the 2.0 petrol or diesel as they are known to be reliable.
Shane, best review i have seen online for a scirocco. Full of useful info. Most others just review the R or TSI picking mine up this week - 2012 2.0tdi candy white
Michael Crowder thank you. I like the 1 series coupe, not so much of a fan of the hatchback. If it’s a 1 series hatchback your looking at I’d say take the Scirocco, much better looking car and them seats are much nicer to!
The general design. It has a hatchback tailgate like you’d find on a Golf or Ford Focus. Coupes are usually two doors with a regular boot lid. The description can vary at times. I had a 2015 Vauxhall Insignia which could be had as a four door saloon, five door lift back or a five door estate. Mine was the lift back. Looked exactly like the saloon in terms of the design but the whole rear hatch opened up instead of just the boot lid on the regular saloon.
Shane, I love your reviews but if you could please please change one thing: the opening of your videos starts with an extremely loud tyre and engine roar and I always have to turn it down instantly. It's the only part of your videos that I absolutely hate! Can you please get rid of this? Thanks and keep up the good work!
Eamonn McDermott thanks I'm glad you enjoy the reviews. Yes I may look into changing it soon, for the record it's a Porsche 911 Carrera S doing a burnout 😜
@@ShanesAutos thinking of getting a 1.4tsi 2012 model with about 116,000 kms on the clock. Anything you know that i should look out for? Perhaps the reliability of the DSG gearbox?
@@alphadawg7360 to the best of my knowledge the DSG is perfectly reliable, I certainly haven’t heard anything negative about it. Very quick gear changes and good fuel economy. Would advise doing some reading online about the DSG just to cover yourself but I think it should be very reliable.
Stardust well I was filming with my right hand which would have made it a bit more awkward to put the key in with my left hand from inside the car. This was just easier to do while I was filming with my right hand.
Your not being honest about the headspace in the rear, your not even sitting back nor keeping your head upright & straight (dishonesty ).I’ve owned one and head the room in rear is terrible due to rear of the car sloping.(I love the scirocco though )
I was sitting back properly and been honest. I’m about 6 feet and I had sufficient space back there. The scirocco does not have a sloped roof at the rear, look at the side profile of the car, so head room in the backseat is good. Maybe the way i had the camera setup was somewhat making it look like I wasn’t sat all the way back but I assure you I was perfectly comfortable back there.
Speaking from my own personal experience as a previous owner, + I am 5ft10, my head blatantly touched the roof if sat normally, you can’t even rest your head back if you wanted to sleep 😴 / rest your eyes for a few minutes. Many of my passengers said same without me even mentioning this issue to them. You either don’t sit with a good posture or you were consciously sitting that Way to avoid showing this issue. Can’t fool all of us!! As I said, I love the scirocco, they should resume production. NEXT
@@dragonsbane2 well it’s my job to give an honest review of a car so why would I lie about how much room is in the Scirocco? But each to their own, I’ve been in a few of these Scirocco’s and I’ve never had a problem with space.
You didn't even tell us which engine this car has. Poor to review a car without mentioning which engine it had, that's the most important thing. I had to wait until the 3 minute mark to see the TDI logo for myself.
Shane Earley Mate it shouldn't take you 9 minutes into a video to reveal the model of the car/engine. If you looked at professional reviews it's the first thing they mention.
Hola Hovito you strike me as been a hard person to please. I film my cars in a particular style. I start with the outside then inside, engine and test drive. If you’d just watch the whole video from start to finish you’d see that.
I love my Scirocco. Best car I have ever driven. Will keep it forever. Sweet machine.

@Commendatore which one?

I've been watching a few reviews of the Scirocco and this one was, by far, the most informative.
Thank you
Just bought a Scirocco. Very exited to drive it!

Fell in love with this car. Picking one up next week 😁👌
Brilliant, enjoy it!
Thanks pal! 😁
Really good review, thinking of getting one of these or a BMW 120D but I'm swaying towards the scirocco after this review!

Any options fitted on this Scirocco?
By the way, can you please film a Volkswagen Jetta in facelift form.
Great review, better than many of the mainstream reviewers.

Have you ever found the fat B pillar to be a problem in terms of visibility ? Does it cause a huge blind spot ?
Yes I have one and it does
Does anyone know if the roof from the interior is black? Or atleast dark grey 😅
I always hated those light grey ones
Roof is black but I believe the A pillars are a light grey
Are they reliable?
As far as I know yes

Can you manually change seats if you wanted to put leather ones in? Thanks
Ngoma Eldair well they did offer them with leather so I see no reason why you’d buy a Scirocco with fabric just to reupholster it in leather.
Great review of a great car! :-)

Steering is not hydraulic, it's electric.
Nice simple sporty car.
