From what I know, this 1.4 tsi with 125 hp has only turbo, the charged one has 160. The 160 was pretty unreliable. This 125 hp version was ok, and the diesels. Also the 2.0 tsi was ok

    • @samsara3694

Exactly right, supercharger on the 160 hp only.
The earlier 160hp version had too main faults - dodgy injectors, leading to piston failure, and a dry clutch dsg that was prone to burnout. Both problems appeared to have been solved with 2013 years and above. Used to love the supercharger sound of the 160 hp.

those are big cars and im not sure if they are 3 door hatch or trying to be coupe like the scirocco. i test drove a 1.4 turbo and my scirocco feels better and more compact. mine is 122hp 1.4 and the astra i drove was apparently meant to be the 140hp, but a quick reg check showed it as the 120hp. either way it was rubbish. dont know how small the turbos are used on either car, but the astra felt flat and gutless. it didnt handle as well either. but they are nice looking cars though. i am glad i chose the rocco of the gtc.

The Scirocco spent most of its life being compared to the TT and RCZ. I've always liked the look of them, but the various shades of grey and the small rear windows would make the interior look smaller than it is, even if the rear seats actually look usable, which is a bonus for a small coupé.

I've recently bought a 2010 2.0tsi GT with a great interior and top spec, including Dynaudio, brown leather seats, winter pack, tilting sunroof and electric driver's seat with about 94,000 miles on the clock.
I was actually looking for a VW Golf for under 6k which would put me squarely in the Mk5 territory and as they are belt driven, finding a decent example was going to be tricky. Someone turned me onto Sciroccos as a GTi substitute and with a chain driven engine on a decent spec Mk6 pushing your budget 7k+, you could save 2k if you find a decent example Scirocco 2.0GT.
The boot isn't totally gimped, it's actually decently sized, it's ULEZ compliant, it's fast, it's easy to drive and it's cool looking, seeming like it's more expensive than it is. Friends were very surprised at how much I picked it up for.
Yes, the suspension is a little stiff and even the petrol engines sound diesely, but for around 5k, you can essentially save money over a Mk6 Golf and be extremely happy with it. Even the back seats aren't so bad!
If you're going to find a Scirocco, find one with a sunroof, it'll give the illusion of space over your head as it can feel a little claustrophobic.

Found an 18’plate with 16000 miles , mint condition in the dark purple which is very rare. Only thing that is a negative for me is no cruise control.
