  • Saturday marks 25 years since the mass shooting at Columbine -- a shooting that took the lives of 12 students and one teacher. Recently, we sat down with a number of the families of the victims to get their perspective on the passage of time.
Lauren Townsend was the captain of the volleyball team, but her mom, Dawn Anna, says she was anything but “graceful” on the court. Her stepdad, Bruce Beck, says Lauren made it her goal to make someone laugh or smile every day. She was a preemie, born nine and a half weeks early. Her mom thinks she was in a hurry to get here, but she knew she wasn’t going to be here long.

I was a senior in high school when this happened, about 7 weeks away from my graduation and will never forget this tragedy.

There is a Lifetime movie called "Dawn Anna" about this family before and after the Columbine incident. Debra Winger plays the mom. This family was so special and wonderful. I have lost track on how many times I have watched it. They had been through a lot even before Columbine. If you can find this movie, please buy it. I feel that the Columbine school ignored a lot of the bullying and knew that it was happening. That also is a tremendous issue to be aware of.

I get those parents so much lmao. At my grandmothers funeral , my uncle got up and told this elaborate story about how great the food she cooked was.. The woman had never cooked anything that wasn't canned in her life.. and my sister said.. she couldn't cook, under her breath LMAO

THIS tragedy shouldn’t have happened. I remember it like it was yesterday. It’s sad, shameful and flat out disgusting that schools have not kept our children safe since! These parents have done everything in their power to make sure it never happened again… WHY DID NO ONE LISTEN! I often think about the victims, this was the year after I graduated. I remember saying “ if I were still in HS, I’d never go back “. There was such a horrific fear placed in generation X. Now, I send my children off to school, and pray I’ll see them again. IMPLEMENT MAJOR CHANGES TO SCHOOLS! RENOVATIONS ARE NEEDED! METAL DETECTORS ARE NEEDED! CLEAR BACKPACKS ARE NEEDED! BP GLASS IS NEEDED! This tragedy will never leave my mind… and it continues to happen- why???!!🙏🏻💜
