I won't lie, the idea of going to a indie-centered convention is incredibly fascinating to me. It's so amazing seeing how much fun everyone is having & how lovely & genuine everything there seems! Such a shame I'll probably never be able to afford going to one my whole life, but oh well
Hooray!! I made it into one of your videos 7:49, I can die in peace now 😌Congratulations again to the team for creating such a beautiful chef-d'œuvre. I hope to see you all at PAX East!
This is on my bucket list of events to attend. Its hard as a solo dev finding the resources to allocate and also time away from the day job. Watching your experience has me more motivated to hopefully demo my game there next year. Cheers!
Dude The First Tree is a total masterpiece, I wish I could’ve been there when you showcased it! It’d be so cool to see We Harvest Shadows at PAX… And thanks! We’re honored you watched our video!
"Quick take a screenshot of his face!" For real though, this video is awesome. Although I'm watching this purely for entertainment and support, I'm sure this is a great resource for indie developers attempting to make a stride like this next year! Keep up the great work guys!
lol I wondered if anyone would pause there. The only time Noah’s face isn’t covered in this video and it’s just super super blurry 😂 And thank you! PAX was really great for us :)
You guys are so wholesome and seem quite lovely. That's cool that Billy played your game too. I'm sure that felt surreal after his success with Animal Well. You put in the hard work, and you've received the fruits of your labor thus far. Keep on keeping on, and stay true to yourselves.
I'm usually not that hyped for a game as I'm for your game. I'll tell you, I was not hyped before, but after playing your demo I loved every single detail and I can't wait for the full release!
Dang that’s high praise! Thank you! It’s always reassuring for us to hear someone not only was curious about our game, but actually enjoyed it after playing!
It’s so awesome that you made loads of awesome connections at PAX, and I’m glad that you had a great experience. All of the new footage is looking so great, I’m beyond excited to see what secrets the spirit realm is hiding, and what fun mechanics lie in the chapters beyond 1 and 2!!
I really appreciate this insight into attending PAX West. I had meant to attend, but unfortunately, my game isn't ready yet, and from the looks of it, my wallet wasn't ready either! I may attend PAX East, but knowing now how much it's gonna cost, I may reconsider, or just start saving for it Now.
Thanks you for inspire me! I wish I brought my game Grandpa High on Retro to PAX, sounds like a awesome experience for you and as a couple. My wife is helping me aswell on our video game and I know that showing off the game on PAX and seeing the booth with a game that you have been making with your spouse has to been a experience of a lifetime, one you look back when drinking tee on the porch with your spouse. Congrats!
Glad you all decided to set up a booth at PAX. Without it, I probably wouldn't have heard of the game or this channel! Really looking forward to seeing the future progress. Congrats on the great weekend.
Well deserved attention, kudos. You guys are doing all with so much passion, attention to detail, humble attitude and professionalism, you deserve all that praise and recognition from the scene, the support and best wishes. 🎉
I don't think you can use the general ~10% conversion rate for wishlists in your analysis. I don't know what it should be, but players coming across a game they like online and wishlisting it is very different from them coming across it IRL at a convention, playing it (or watching it), and deciding to wishlist. I'd at least double the rate ... which would have you "break even" from just that. But your next point makes that all moot, the connections made, buzz generated, and validation is definitely worth it! Congrats on it going so well.
I wish the best of luck to you guys, but if I were you I would be worried about being pushed into the puzzle platformer genre. The only genre that's harder to sell on steam than a platformer are puzzle games. Steam players rarely buy puzzle platformers. I'd speculate its because platformers or puzzle games make you feel like you're bad at the game when you get stuck, and combining them amplifies the problem. Puzzle games are also not popular for streamers to pick up, so it puts you in a tough spot with marketing IMO. Its not a death sentence, but its alarming.
I'm so glad Pax went well for you. I wish I could have checked it out myself, and it would have been fun to try and speedrun it in person
lol no doubt you’d have had the fastest time by far😅
Great story/video. Best luck to your game, look forward to seeing what happens next.

SO awesome getting to meet y’all and play your game. Easily one of my favorites of the whole weekend. Can’t WAIT to play the whole thing!

Congrats on PAX! That's a great accomplishment. It's so cool to see a game come from the place I grew up!
It's a great place to be from!
hey! I got to play y'alls game at Pax. Super cool stuff, glad the you felt like it was an overall positive experience!
Thank you so much for those wearing a mask and allowing this event to be safer.

I got to chat with you for a bit before and after playing the PAX demo! I'm glad it went well! Definitely picking this up on release!

That’s a very good point I hadn’t considered. Not all wishlists are the same. I sure hope it converts better! Thanks for the kind words all around!
Living the dream man, I would love to go for one of these events and show off my games one day!
Imo things like that are worth it for the fun, satisfaction, morale boost and connections. Assuming you can afford it.
Agreed 😊
This is so cool to see insight into. Also shout out Utah Game Devs!
Hey hey! Utah game devs!
@@OandCoGames it can be tough to find other game devs in your area. Do you guys know any good resources for that?

now I'm waiting for a massive Noah face reveal that will rock the internet harder than Dream himself

what an awesome trip! so happy for you guys! I really wish I coulda made it and met you guys, but I'm not headed back up north till this weekend 🥲
What are you thinking of doing with the kickstarter?
Launching it in November - depending on how well it does it could allow us to free up our time.

Yeah good call out. We won’t be branding as a puzzle game since at our core we’re a precision platformer
