Thanks for this video! Love the two angles. I’m currently at this exact stage of my build. Watching you sand was some direction I needed! I’ll be watching the rest!!
Thank you for a great start to what looks to be a fantastic project. I'll be getting myself a 3D printer soon and I would love my own R2D2, so I'll be following your progress. Got yourself a new subscriber
Looking good so far! Being able to use the taller parts is nice -- I had to print 15 sections instead of those 6 for the bottom part of the dome, and of course fitting them together was a bit tricky.
Hey I noticed the Stl files u used are different than the ones available now. Is there a difference regarding the dome shape? Or is it just a different printing method?
the complete dome with all panels I think was like 2.5 spools, the whole thing will take (and I'm guessing) 8+ spools of PLA and 1 to 2 of nylon and 1 of flexible.
I had not thought about selling it as a kit. If I did it would be somewhere around $1000.00. I have over 200 hours of printing just in the dome so far and I have not finished printing all the parts for the dome yet.
I have a Robo R1 plus and should be able to do the large scale prints. I have downloaded the dome file on Thingaverse but I am seeing the larger files. Are they listed under a certain name? Thanks
I got the large-scale files from Michael Baddeley's Patreon page. You will have to become a patron of his to get access to the files. it is only $1 to get access. Here is a link to his Patreon account. www.patreon.com/mrbaddeley/overview Thanks for watching...

Having to only print the 6 parts was nice. It did take a long time to print over 71 hours. This is going to be a fun project.
I just started to print DomePie1. Can't wait to see R2D2 in full glory. I also going to make a Dalek some day being a Dr Who fan.
I was thinking of doing a Dalek or a Cyberman from Dr. Who....
Haven’t looked into the 3D option but love your videos dude! Straight to the point and honest - I may now consider 3D printing !
Thanks, man...
Seriously good start! Totally going to be watching the progress! Looks like you had a long day/night getting it to this point!
Thanks, it was a long night took over 2 hours to get what was in the video done. The printing took over 71 hours. Thanks for watching
Very cool. Hrm, going to be a lot more work than I thought.
It is going to be a lot of work but it will be worth it in the end. Thanks for watching
Oh, 3D printed R2-D2. Subbed.
Nice work brother
How many kilos of filament is the Hole r2d2
I'm preparing to print the large 6 parts dome and wondering if i need to add support or not. Looks like i dont need to! Yeay! saves time and material
You can print it, either way, depending on your printer.
Started running section 1 with Mattercontrol, Almost 19 hours to do so I am rethinking this
lol... I have over 150 hours at this time in printing alone and I have a long way to go yet over 200 hours at least
Really excited to see how this goes! is this going to be a to scale R2 unit build?
Yes, this will be a full-size R2. Thanks for watching

Where did you get the pattern from
some guy said they used baking soda on super glue almost instantly hardens and strengthens it he used it on chips in carbon fiber props
Have not tried that yet but it is on my list of things to try. Thanks
