Hello, Thank you so much for all your videos. I’m going to finally try and build my dream project thanks to you and Mr. Baddeley. It’s refreshing on how detailed your videos are. I’m very new to 3D printing and working with arduinos. But I’m willing to accept the challenge and looking forward to having your awesome videos help me out.
I also plan on starting this project and am glad that you are showing us your process. Please keep explaining the steps as you do them. Anything that you don't explain could be what we need to know.
I've just ordered a 3d printer, & am going to start my own R2 build after the new year. This video series is very informative, thank you for documenting your build. I like how well you explain what your doing I think this is going to be a great help when I get started building my own. Thanks again!
man this work is incredible, I live in urugauy and this week I will buy the 3d printer, this project I will do and based on your project. Thank you very much for the contribution, and it is still very helpful. hug
I plan on starting this project myself soon! And to answer your poll, I know nothing about electronics and programming so please throw in every bit of detail you can!
How many hours does it take to print a complete R2? It must be a loong time. I think I will get a smaller printer and just print the smaller parts like logic surrounds and eye lenses etc.
Can you explain the sanding grit and sander you are using - I always struggled with the orbitals but that looks like a very clean sanding solution... I don't see a lot of dust so interested in the type of sander and the levels of grit you are using and in order. Thank you in advanced
Well, I used 80 to 120 grit sandpaper for the first sanding and after the first cost of primer. then I used 220+ for the 2nd cost of primer and any other sanding that was needed.
Yes I'm using PLA (Inland Filament amzn.to/2uEJe1l ) for this build for the most part. There will be some Nylon or PETG or something better then PLA for gears. There will also be some flexible filament as well.
Rorlin 3D NerdStop I always thought that PLA isn't strong enough for this type of build. Do you know how much you will be spending on a functional (estimate pls)
Well, I have about $100.00 in parts for the head. I have not even started looking into the body and drivetrain. I hope less the $400.00 in the body and drivetrain. I hope no more than $500 in Functional parts. It is hard to say at this point.
That is a good idea I will have to start doing that... Will need to dust off my paypal account have not used in a good bit... I will start that in the next video. Thanks for the idea Bro..

I should have the next video out next week. When you get started I would love to see the progress you make on yours.

I will be showing and explaining the code and electronics in detail. Thank you for watching
Great detail!! There is something so satisfying about primer!

I'm curious about what kind of dust mask your are wearing in this video?
is there an option for extreme detail on electronic? lol

I bought the ruby nozzle after watching your video ,, and nylonX filament So do I use what setting do I print with?
You will have to look at the nylon filament you have for print temps. Nylon can range from 220°C all the way up to 280°C.
Keep up the good work. I had printed a couple of parts but I'm out of filament at the moment to print more :(
I know that feeling. R2-D2 is going to take a lot of filament I'm thinking about 6 to 8+ spools.

What grit sandpaper are you using?
I used 100 for quick sanding and then 220 for finishing sanding.
Hi , you are doing a great job Keep up the good Work........... Very Detailed please
good stuff. keep it up!
Did you print PLA or ABS? Is he going to be functional?
I'm printing in PLA and Yes he is going to be functional.

I really appreciate all the effort you put into these videos, you should post your paypal account so you can get direct support besides patreon.
