Fender released the Strat in 54’. They all had maple fretboards until 58’.
Looks to me like they are aiming at a 61’ or 62’. Of course it is a homologation of parts but…
You should try any of the Squire Affinity models they are the higher end Squires usually they have Alpha brand pots which are the small pots but from my research are just as good as CTS pots. They do have ceramic bar pickups but they don't sound half bad really...I recently got a 99 model Affinity Strat made in China ($80) leveled the frets put in a loaded Fleor pick guard with hot rail humbuckers and added coil taps to all the pickups... it plays as good as any $1,000 guitar on the shelf at guitar Center.

Hey bro, quick question on your Greeny custom build from Cathy - how would you say it holds up compared to Gibson’s current 50s Standard LPs in terms of tone & build quality?
Personally, I think that my Greeny Custom is the best guitar that I have ever played. But keep in mind that it was built to my specs. So it really fits me the best. As far as build quality goes. I would put it against any Gibson any day. The sound is amazing. We will revisit it in the future.
Trying to learn on my favorite Floyd gilmour stuff. All I have is a Les Paul from iyv does not sound anything close to Stratocaster

Know matter what anyone tells you lead is one of the "common" properties of nickel silver. Period. Guitar players don't get special sissy nickel silver. Lol. They use it to prevent your frets from corroiding. It's not limited to chinese guitars. www.britannica.com/technology/nickel-silver

So reporting in from the one I bought off express, a little bit of dialing in the thing plays amazingly, the tuners hold maybe better than my actual gibson, it was just the wiring in the pickups that were garbage, like the hardware works plenty well so I didn't end up needing to replace that once I dialed everything in, so I'm at a grand total of like $260 after everything, and it's not quite the same as my gibson, but I kind of like the neck better

New subscriber here. Love what you’re doing. The old Fenders were 7.25 radius. I am guessing you use 3in1 , because that’s what I use. Great playing.
Got my Chibson Les Paul Custom (63 SG re-issue) the other day, gorgeous cream with gold hardware, unfortunately there was a crack at the headstock, i recon the case has fell backwards and the guitar has bounced inside, didn't want to send it back as it took three months to arrive (i'm in the UK) so seller has offered a part refund, he's been ok to deal with, quick replies, i might go for a discount of my next Chibson instead, i managed to glue the crack (fortunately it turned out to be hairline) and will live with it, it's playing fine and holds tune. Have suggested to the seller bubble wrap round the headstock in future.
Skunk stripes are made for 1 piece maple necks.. as they routed from the backside to insert the truss rod. No need for skunk stripe with neck with separate fingerboard of maple or rosewood.. even Fender still added it for looks.. but not all have them.. I dont think Cathy is going for EXACT replicas.. just the LOOK of an old worn strat.. I prefer modern appointments myself.. such as 12 degree radius and jumbo frets.. was it a 1 3/4 inch body thickness?

@@FultonStreetBeatsyeah decent fret wire only contains miniscule amounts. Did you watch his episode? He tested all his 70 guitars and only the teisco and 2 chibsons tested positive. Think he has an anti chibson agenda?

I remember when he loved Chibsons. Now it's a kind of a negitive every other episode. I get it, though. The controversy gets clicks, which means more views. Which equals more money. What he said is not untrue. But there is more to the story. Indeed, nickel silver contains lead.
The best we can hope from Channels is honesty. I've always been a fan of Maxx. Channels don't always agree. But we do always try to get along. It's a much better community that way.
I think I remember him saying he was getting rid of his didn't want to sell them to anybody because he didn't want them to sell them to someone else as real or as authentic I guess I should say didn't he cut some of them in half or something trying to show something about the wood but said he didn't want anything to do with him anymore but yet here he pops up with this video about the lead still has a couple hanging around lol I like the guy I watch his videos He's a good player and has some good reviews but sometimes I think people get the wrong idea about Chibson I mean really they're replica guitars you don't have any problem going to a life shop and buying a replica sword of a katana or something knowing full well it wasn't made you know in the 1600s by some Chinese dude I mean come on people will get a kit car and they will put together the Cobra and have no problem with those everyone knows it's not a real Cobra but hey they're really cool and fun to drive kind of like a Chibson... There really is nice to see you do a strat type Chibson since I'm not really a Les Paul kind of guy some of Gibson's guitars are pretty cool like the SG and the explorers and stuff but it was nice to see a couple of ST style guitars lately.
I've edited this comment so it's not so offensive. I should have said I'm having trouble with my order with Cathy. As Cathy approved of in an earlier email, I could paid half the cost of my custom order so I did. A day later she emailed me wanting proof of my payment. I was told I could pay half up front and half when it was finished. When Cathy asked for proof of payment this made me question the legitimacy of the whole thing but I sent a screenshot of my PayPal receipt and now all communication has stopped. I've asked to cancel my order and want my money back and I've had to file a claim with PayPal to try and get my money back.
I've never heard of paying for half the cost of an order from her ever before. If, indeed, this happened, she will make it right. There is no two ways about it. Are you sure you ordered from Cathy? What platform? What guitar? This is not how Cathycustomguitar operates she is asking for proof of payment, it's probably for a good reason. Also keep in mind that there is a 13 hr time difference.. She does not rip anyone off that I have ever heard.
