You gotta dip the chicken in the mashed potatoes and gravy!
As a native Texan a few bits of advice for any return trips to Popeye’s. Firstly it’s all about the spicy bone in chicken. Second, the red beans and rice is the best side to get. Lastly, you need lots of honey for the biscuits (scones lol) and hot sauce for the chicken. Trust me when I say it will be a game changer.

The one thing that sets Popeye's apart for me is the red beans and rice.
Popeyes is the best fried chicken as fast food... Best sandwiches too... Sweet Heat sauce is legendary and the cole slaw is great. It's the only place I ate shrimp and enjoyed it too...

U got that right. I love the biscuits,but I would use maple syrup n butter. Save some biscuits for sausage gravy in the morning. Yummy 😋 all.

As a Louisiana man I have to say that the red beans and rice are crazy good. As for the chicken, it’s best eaten spicy.

Like, I know that Popeye's has "sauces" but they are all "meh" with the exception of MASHED POTATOES AND GRAVY!!!!! (I think honey-mussy is overrated, fight me).

“Butter” is the reason behind those biscuits
The green beans are cooked with water and bacon and salt and pepper, regular side all over the states which is what I tend to grow. Great canned at home and taste great in the middle of winter. Love the show!

Not sure why you would get only tenders to begin with. I have no idea what in the world possessed him to say screw getting the Item that the place is known for and makes up the majority of the menu (bone in fried chicken). Let me get the item that takes up a tiny space on the menu. But even then the chicken tenders are not bad at all. Guess he just didn't like the crispy breading.

I liked how he reviewed the apple pie, spot on. But those biscuits need butter. Warm biscuits and butter from Popeyes is bomb. You twist and peel the biscuits apart and smear some butter on them and watch them melt in to the biscuits 😋 💟💯👌

Honey with the biscuits are really good. It’s pretty much what everyone puts on their biscuits in the south besides sausage and gravy. But in most fast food chicken with biscuits we put honey. Also I’d love to see you try Raising canes or Zaxbys when you’re back in the south :) keep up the content man!!

that green bean juice we call 'pot liquor' in the south, any liquid used in the braising of veggies like green beans, collard greens etc often has smoked ham hocks for seasoning in the cooking pot.

The biscuits in the U.S are amazing providing they’re soft & fluffy, but all that food with no sauce is a death hazard, could of easily choked to death. You should of made a chicken tender, mash & gravy biscuit sandwich, no we’re talking! 👌

I grew to love Popeyes when I was working on a Yank base in Germany. Baskin Robbins is also a great Ice cream place to compliment the chicken. Keep up the good work.

Southern biscuits are special because the biscuit flour is traditionally made from “soft wheat”, the resulting baking flour has much less gluten in it than the more common “hard wheat” flour (which is used more for breads), and is much more affected by baking powder creating a light fluffy biscuit instead of a dense more scone like biscuit. Soft wheat grows better in temperate climates like the southern u.s. which is why even the northern states couldn’t make a biscuit like the ones in the south (that was before technology allowed food to be easily shipped several hundred, and even thousands, of miles). Even today though it’s not common to find that particular type of flour much outside the southern states, I think a brand named White Lily is one of the most popular. Many people attempt to make biscuits not knowing this and get what is best described as savory scones like you said

The best things about biscuits is the butter layers baked in. A lot of chicken places do tend to have frozen biscuits but even then they still have butter layers. Butter makes biscuits as they say.

Damn, I can only imagine the sheer amount of diarrhea that this meal would give me.
In America (southern areas) we cook green beans with butter and fatback and then usually salt pepper and whatever seasonings you want. Butter and pork will usually make anything taste better
that explains why it tastes so good haha
