  • Today we are going to be changing rear wheel bearing with integrated magnetic sensor ring on 2004 BMW E90 330i. This vehicle had ABS warning light that was caused by bad magnetic encoder on wheel bearing. To replace old bearing we'll fully disconnect steering knuckle and use hydraulic press to extract it and press in new one.
    Some symptoms of bad wheel bearings: A humming, rumbling, clicking or growling noise. Uneven tire wear. Play in the wheels and more.
    Breaker bar we used: amzn.to/3WD8w9q
    Similar torque wrench to the one we used: amzn.to/3YY5aPT
    Similar pliers to the ones we used: amzn.to/3HgH6zp
    Jack stands we used: amzn.to/3X26Cir
    Durable rubber gloves: amzn.to/3WE2Yvn

    Hands down man. You filmed how to remove the parking break cable! Mine fell off and I wasn't sure how to put it back on.

    Is it not easier to just remove the drive shaft instead of these components?

    • @TveTop
      @TveTop 2 місяці тому

      Much easier IMHO and no need to remove parking brake and the sensor a d disconnect all the suspension links. Left side is trickier though as you also need to unbolt the exhaust at the rear to move the axle, depending on the age of the axle and the state of the abs ring it might be worth replacing them at the same time spending extra 10 min

    Did doing it this way require an alignment afterwards?

      Don't think so, the bolts from which you do the alignment are on the chassis side of the control arms, not on the wheel hub side

    You also have to readjust the parking brake after working with parking brake components. And I believe you cannot reuse the nuts for suspension components

    Great tutorial! Appreciated the socket sizes & torque specs. Unfortunately my axle nut was completely rusted and I couldn't get any purchase with my 36mm socket, so I had to remove the 6 e12 bolts from the diff/axle shaft and pull the whole thing out. Then I dremeled the axle nut off and got a new half shaft to put in with a new hub & bearing. Car sounds SOOOOO much better without the loud whirring that was going on for the past 5 years :D

    I cant put my cv axle back in my differential case. Threads look ok. Removed retaining clip ring just to make sure its not the one that caused resistance but same. I have 1.5 cm gap between diff and cup of CV axle inner end. Hammering doesnt do anything. What the hell is wrong
