Depends on how you define greatest . If we are talking about in terms of impact, no other footballer ever had a bigger on football than Pele. He changed football forever. Without him , football would have never been the most popular sport in the world. So yeah, in terms of impact and influence on the game . There is no other player that even come close to him and he easily is the greatest. But if we are talking about quality of a footballer, I would say Messi is better. Maybe even Ronaldo. Football has only gotten difficult after Pele's reign. Scoring goals has gotten even harder thanks to defender being generally more skilled and how advance the tactics in football has gotten. Despite that, Messi and Ronaldo destroyed modern defenses and tactics. They pretty much made it look like they were scoring goals for fun. Not to mention, Messi is also a playermaker. Even if he never scored that many goals, people still would have considered him as one of the best of all time just because of his playmaking skills. His impressive goal scoring numbers are just bit of an overkill .

The youth can shower praise on Messi and CR7 all they want just as long as they learn and respect that Pele did it first, he brought unprecedented skills to the world, when the game was like kicking a bowling ball with bare feet and every defender was a murderer on parole. The 17 year old schoolboy Pele was sent on a mission in 1958 to win the World Cup for Brazil and he succeeded spectacularly in humiliating the big stars of world football. Not even Messi or CR7 made it to the World stage until they were old enough to look after themselves.

I was born after Pele retired, and I've never seen a video of one single player that did all those dribbles, passes, scores, all thw while with magical skills. Shoes were crap, the field was crap, the balls were heavier and lopsided and harder to bend. Defenders were allowed to be much more aggressive and hacked and tackled regularly. Pele began playing with a mango in the jungle…
I have been watching World Cups since 1970 as a boy, and I have always considered Pele to be the GOAT. Not just because of his skills and performance, and not just because he revolutionized the sport, but because he also lead Brasil to THREE World Cups. Yeah count that on your hand Ronaldo and Messi fans - THREE. However, I have also watched Messi and Ronaldo for the past 15 years to 20 years and always felt that what was missing in their application to be GOAT was a World Cup. The 2022 victory for Argentina changed the calculus big time. I think I am now willing to pass the title to Messi - an extraordinary playmaker and goal scorer, but also now a leader at the highest level. What the younger generations today don't seem to understand is that there is always a Johnny-come-lately great player, and there always will be. But the question that defines greatness is leadership. And is sports, that means leading your nation to victory. Nations League victories don't count in the same way. Money buys those victories. World Cups are only won with what a country has. To find glory, extraordinary leadership is required, and Pele had it in spades. Michael Jordan had it, Wayne Gretzky had it, Diego Maradona had it, and Pele always had it. And yes you all can opine about that's not a fair criteria because its not Ronaldo's fault Portugal has never been good enough. That may be true, but this is yardstick by which the GOAT of any sport must be judged. If Ronaldo defined greatness, he would have found a way. It's not like Portugal is not a strong footballing nation. Championships at the highest level of one's sport is an essential criteria. All things considered in 2024: 1. Messi, 2. Pele, 3. Maradona, 4. Ronaldo.

@@johnrockyryan Yeah Diego is a Great player of one the better players of all time, Diego is the representation of Argentina meanwhile, Pelé is the representation of Football.
🐐🇧🇷👑 The best and greatest in history, Penaldo and Pessi fans can cry
👇
Pravo! 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
He was even good as a professional goalkeeper when he played as a goalkeeper, defender, midfield, wing and every position you can imagine as a football player and also he can jump more than many basketball players (48 inch , 1.22 meters) , and can run faster than many athletes (100 meters 11seconds)
Even Konami jealous of him
One of the greatest athletes of all time and certainly the Football GOAT.
Man was simply black panther
What are you talking about, lol??? He never played as a goalkeeper or a defender... Also his jumping and speed weren't that impressive...
@@segetbossyes he played in some matches when goalkeeper couldnt
He is the king, he is the football, he is the goat, he is PELÉ 👑
Pelé - GOAT - Rei - Futebol - Melhor de todos os tempos! ⚽🤴🏿🏆🇧🇷👑🇧🇷⚽🤴🏿
People don't understand that he's the GOAT bcuz of his skill. He is the GOAT because he literally created what we all consider as skill
Inagine Pele in modern times 😮
GOAT 🔥
this guy was the king of football
Crucially, all of Pele's skill was done with effect in mind. None of it was for show. Genius. At 1:00 Lucas achieves nothing except admiration for his individual skill, whereas Pele takes the man out of the game and makes a pass to a team mate to boot. There's a difference.
Im from argentina im 44 years old. Didnt see much of pele but what i saw make think he is the best of all time. A lot of people think the same here but its a social suicide to saying. 🤗
😂
I think Maradona was much better than Messi, but cant say it also.
Pele' is the GOAT of football forever. Nobody can come anywhere close to him. No debate, no doubts, no arguments.
Oh how I wish Pele and other great players who peaked pre 1990s could play in todt's era of football. Theyd be unstoppable
Pele peaked ore 1970s😅
@@SarcasticBeingYes60s
Pele was like if every great player was combined into one. He had it all!
Greatest Of All Time for a reason
Remember he did this w a leather ball, crappy equipment, on a crappy field while literally gettinf assaulted every match.
He also did it in the 1970s where the balls and boots were closer to what it is today
And almost no card system through out majority of His career.
Also today we already know everything by internet, so things that we see once we can repeat untill we understand how it works, 30 years ago people could say that only blessed one could rewind things on video recorder when they luckly had tape, but when he was playing barely few people were blessed to see things once on TV live in black and white colors with bad quality, thats even more amazing
@@henry247in the 70s he was in "retired" form.
@@henry247 and he also did it in the fucking wc in fucking 1958 as a fucking 17 yo.
There is a word to describe when God decides to play football. This word is Pelé.
Ronaldo's no look pass was utterly pointless with no one around him and just for show, whereas Pele's genuinely threw the defenders off and created an attack
Lol what a jealous guy. Do u watch football on Yt? U just judged Ronaldo for a clip.
@@pyaesone7300 pele is better than messi and ronaldo

@pyaesone7300 He did not judge Cristiano. He judged that specific pass.
Pelé é o Rei do Futebol.
He was at least the mind of a player who played elite tier in 90's but man's career started in 50's and ended at early 70's. Definetly genius.
I’m always gonna give the original more credit than the copy . There might have one or two guys this did one of these things first . But he did them all the time on a regular basis . The first complete footballer . Supremely skilled on every level of the game .
Wonderful video. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏽
Remember,70% of Pele’s career wasn’t filmed. All These were when he was gonna retire. The only player who could be compared to him in my opinion is prime R9
Id argue other players like Messi, Garrincha, Di Stefano, Puskas and Maradona come close
EXACTLY. There's so much of his game that we'll never get to watch, and still the plays that were recorded are enough to impress the hell out of us. Imagine if each one of his matches was filmed like nowadays
We have the privilege to see PELÉ and SENNA, two Brazilian Legends!
Pelé invented the most marvelous way to play football. He was a genius.
Pele is the GOAT of all GOATS..,🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👑👑👑👑👑👑👑🇧🇷
I'm just here to appreciate your effort in making the video! Thank you!
Pelé, simplesmente o rei do futebol brasileiro e do mundo 🇧🇷👑
Pele makes every star look like his children
No doubt the best soccer player ever.
Inspiração pra todos os jogadores do mundo... Pelé eterno
1:55 And that was an mistake by péle but later now it's recognised as a skill. We have to admit that every thing that he does later got recognition as a beautiful skill. Really true Brazilian and master of the game 🎯
incredible PELE ፔሴ
Insane edit, insane clips!! Pele he really was a player ahead of his time.
For those of you kids out there who really think Ronaldo and Messi are the best, don’t you forget who they learned from, Pelé is the eternal GOAT of the beautiful game 🇧🇷🐐⚽️
@zariflasker8006 Here we go, bro only mentions his daddy pessi 🤣
I am a diehard Brazil and Pele🐐 fan I agree 100% well said bro
@TheOwnerOfRealMadriDammit kid. Have u even watched a game of football that was played in the 60s or 70s. U only know how to lick Messi's butt😂😂😂

@TheOwnerOfRealMadri I had a fucking stroke reading this. Do u even know how to write in English?
Thanks for the video. I imagine that was time-consuming edit all these videos
I was born after Pele retired, and I've never seen a video of one single player that did all those dribbles, passes, scores, all thw while with magical skills. Maradona had a lot of skills, but i don't see him as complete as Pele. Messi is a different style altogether, extremely skillful but not a flashy dribbler. Maybe Ronaldinho is the closest one i can remember, but still not the same. Maybe i am missing someone.
Pele was to Football as Jimi Hendrix was to the Electric guitar. There will be no one like them ever again.
G.O.A.T
Todos os jogadores CRAQUES JA IMITAVAM PELÉ
Well done 👍 Pelé you are the best ♥️
Thanks for share Pelé Edson Arantes Do Nascimento O' Rei Pelé the creator and and inventor of the soccer play, My Best wishes from Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Guerrero México to all the people that we love the fútbol ⚽⚽⚽
This is why I still, and probably always will, consider Pele to be the GOAT of football! 👑
I value trailblazers in a sport above anything else, because they created magic out of nowhere whereas players today have the benefit of always having more blueprints to look at. And that's not even mentioning all the insane physiological progress we've made to make it easier for players.
Pele is the greatest footballer ever and it is not even close
The Best Brazilian, And One Of The Only Brazialians Who Didn't Slack Off
I will argue Garrincha is better, but your second point is why he isnt
The GOAT.
That no look travela pass was shockingly good
Bro was the definition of "ahead of his time"
3 WORLD CUPS!!!!
I said: 3!!!!!!!
Imagine this in modern soccer.
1124 gols, 362 assistências, 3 copas do mundo...
The GOAT! Rip legend!
Incredible collecton, thanks!
I think Pele is not respected enough because he played in an era we have only rare and low quality footage from.
You made excellent job to compensate that.
I Strongly agree this was a great man
2:12 Carlo Parola (Juventus player) did it first, Genuary 15th 1950, Fiorentina-Juventus. And he did it while defending.
In 1932, Leônidas da Silva scored with a bicycle kick in a game on Rio de Janeiro
Pelé was considered a national treasure here in Brazil by the government. No other player in history had that kind of prestige, not even Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or Romario.
The most incredible thing is how naturally King Pelé did this...it looks like he was walking on the beach, so calmly!!!
Pelé was the absolute GOAT, better than Messi and Ronaldo, thanks for the respect for the brazilian legend.
Pelé was modern football, before modern football
Great video. I'm glad there are still lucid people talking about football (soccer) on the internet.
Beyond the vision, is there anything to be said about the equipment ? Like... It was way harder to execute back then ?
Yes. Everything was harder before.
Shoes were crap, the field was crap, the balls were heavier and lopsided and harder to bend. Defenders were allowed to be much more aggressive and hacked and tackled regularly. Pele began playing with a mango in the jungle…
Pele playing like this at his time was like a driving Tesla car in the 60’s
Ronaldo.
Every single move we know today, Pelé did it first
Pelé and Johan Cruyff are the G.O.A.T.S, they revolutionized football
RIP PELE SIR. WE MISS U A LOT ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
