I’m out here in St.Louis as a tech and we do literally everything from labs to even inserting catheters! I just wanna make sure my nurse is good they already have a million things to do!
We need more vlogs like this. It’s so relatable and I’m not even in the nursing field. Wanting more money, moving, starting new journeys as an adult, etc.
Girlll I completely feel u, like COMPLETELY 😂. I tried to downsize apartments in the Bay, cuz it gets so expensive! But I ended up moving back into a larger space cuz I’m already missing my own home, so I wasn’t about to be uncomfortable ! This experience is taxing enough on your mental health, you need a safe space to come to at the end of your shifts and on your days off.
I tried 2 focus on the money when I was n Cali. The 1st place I stayed n was only 4 blocks away from the facility. It was perfect 2 walk 2 work. I tried 2 suffer theubit, bit couldn't do it anymore. I purchased my own cleaning supplies, linens, etc. The straw that broke the camels 🐫 back 4 me was a couple moved n2 the room next door with a kid. I came home & there was turd stuck n the toilet. I moved out the next day & they kept my money 4 the last 3 weeks. I moved n2 a cottage with my kwn everything 10 minutes away driving. The place was pricey, but my peace of mind was necessary. When I extended, I moved 2 a decent spot n Oakland that was more affordable than the place I moved 2. I can't do nasty. I just can't. It brings down my whole mood & makes me crazy. People don't clean how I clean.
@SincerelyShannonSubcribe Don't feel bad. I felt the same way when I was out there. Ur right about the set ups. It's str8 up trash. 4 what they charge & what u get is crazy. They know travel nurses need housing & don't have many affordable options. I want 2 rent out the extra room n my apt, but I don't want any1 n my place, esp if they r nasty. I'm considering using the Apts upstairs 4 students or travelers. I'm on the fence.
Girl!! What you said about the techs in California just made me realize why the new CNA at my job from California is having a hard time adjusting to the floor at a hospital in Charlotte. She’s been a CNA for nine years in Cali and nobody can believe it. Can’t get the flow down with on time blood sugars and vitals. Can’t help pull a patient up…what’s really going on???
Ok so I wasn’t tripping. I realized that they have all these unions over here. So part of why they do much is because they fault for it with the union 😩 so if you a CNA anywhere else come to Cali bc you’ll be chillin lol
I went to CA for my very first travel assignment back in 2022. I was in NorCal at Kaiser. There weren’t any techs so nurses had to fulfill every task smh. The rates in CA were really good around that time too! Idk what’s going on with the rates nowadays. I’ve been seeing $2300-2700. I’m not lifting a finger for those low rates, especially in CA.
I will say, when I traveled in Cali probably 15 years ago we stayed in amazing places. Apartments fully furnished with granite countertops and pools and gyms and tennis courts. So nice. Or we could take the $ and find our own housing. I did that once and stayed in this nice "in law cottage" in the back of someone's house. He had it done so nice, it had a nice bathroom and full kitchen, private outdoor area. Very reasonable. I saved up a lot of money while I was out there. But a lot has changed. Back then no one knew what a travel nurse was. Now I'm 42 and dipped my toe into the local travel scene and it was good a few years ago but it's terrible now.
Thank you so much for these videos, I been watching your content since forever. These cali vlogs have been really helpful because I’m a current traveler on the east coast and I was thinking about applying in cali. I feel like people romanticize cali for nurses but you have given me the real deal inside look of what goes on and I needed that so thank you.
I live in CA but I’m not in the medical field.I just found it funny because our favorite line is that’s out of my scope in any field.😂😂😂😂.And we also love to go on strike here as well.
Just graduated nursing school a month ago. I was taught that techs can’t do “assessments” which basically means anything that makes a tech have to assess if a patient is ok/unstable. Ie; first set of vitals on a new admit/transfer, blood glucose levels, first ambulation of a new admit/transfer. . . So basically they can’t do shit without a nurse “assessing” it first😒 in theory. But I worked as a SN tech. To me, my job was to make my nurse shift easier. Period. Vitals, sugars, ambulating, water, linen, peri care, I/o, baths, CHG, weights, grabbing pumps/channels, applying scd, drawing labs, charting, etc. But also was told I’m a great tech due to being in nursing school 🤷🏾♀️)
1. Having a home base is soooo essential. 2. I will NEVER work a contract for that system ever again BUT I would work a staff per diem with them. The Q4 float is literally a waste of time. You lose 45 mins every time! 3. Congrats on your other per diems! If it's in LA, I'll be in and out right with you! Play around with Google Flights and book early and you'll be good. 4. We gotta link for real lol. I had an HCA per diem with their company (HT), did the orientation, and never worked a shift lol. Why they sent me a 1 year anniversary badge pin like some glorified employee like whet lmao
I did 2 assignments in California and the things the techs didn’t do was just wild. They kept saying checking glucose is out of their scope of practice. I’m like how about the vitals🤷🏾♀️dafuq
@@SincerelyShannonSubcribe hahaha yeah that hillside literally takes people out! lol but I’m glad you got to see that opening where the waves break and come in. It’s definitely a beautiful beach.
After a long day at work home should be your comfort zone and you definitely didn’t seem comfortable at that place 😂the first red flag was the shared bathroom I cannot!
I was thinking that too bc otherwise I don’t get it. But I also think it’s hospital to hospital. I’m out here on another assignment and they take vitals and blood sugars.

Yes we love a tech that can do it all! I wish it was like this everywhere

Yall know I always take yall along the journey lol
I love the consistency with the videos!
Me too lol I missed y’all

Yes so true. I’m like my peace of mind is more important than saving a couple dollars. I’ll make it back lol

Peace of mind is what I’m going for every time from here on out lol I don’t know why I convinced myself I could stay there 😩

You must be in your soft nurse era lol bc if you not lifting a finger what ya doing?! Put us on! We don’t want to be lifting a finger either lol

Awesome, I can’t wait to watch ❤️🔥

Yes! I’m trying to get in per diem with them after this contract. They have really good rates. We def have to link ❣️
I did 2 assignments in California and the things the techs didn’t do was just wild. They kept saying checking glucose is out of their scope of practice. I’m like how about the vitals🤷🏾♀️dafuq
Ok so I wasn’t tripping?! Bc that’s crazy. They def need to increase there skill set!
I’m a Northern Cali Native and Panther Beach is literally a beast going up and down 😂
Had me huffing and puffing 😂
@@SincerelyShannonSubcribe hahaha yeah that hillside literally takes people out! lol but I’m glad you got to see that opening where the waves break and come in. It’s definitely a beautiful beach.
Minus the hoodlums who leave their trash everywhere lol

So many red flags! But that bathroom was definitely the first 😂😂
“While I’m at the trap house” 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂 I don’t know why I kept calling it that
Great vlog as always ❤
💕
Moral of the story: Everyone does NOT have the same standards of living ..
At all!
My guess, its the mandated ratios - they're gonna work the RNs to the bone and skimp on techs.
I was thinking that too bc otherwise I don’t get it. But I also think it’s hospital to hospital. I’m out here on another assignment and they take vitals and blood sugars.
Not you convincing yourself that the housing is okay ! 😩😩
Horrible idea lol
Not “ tha trap house” 😂
😂😂😂
Shannon…. I’m not bout to play with you with this after hours upload 🙄🤦🏽♀️
I’m bout to stay up and watch it tho! 🤣
😂😂😂 I’m on Cali time my bad
I had the same thought. I said no she didn't lol and then watched
I’m crying laughing at you realizing your new housing just isn’t your vibe. & you booking a hotel 😭😭😭
Like why was I living in dululu bc anit no way I could of thought I’d be ok with that😂
You have to pay the cost to be the boss!!!!
Man oh man lol
I thought it was me….the water here is so dang hard. It’s not good for my skin or hair.
Yes I don’t know what it is. Once I moved it was better but my skin was still dry
Heyyyy 😊😊😊
👋🏾❤️

That was the first time I ever experienced that. Anywhere else they do vitals and sugars. That’s crazy lol
