  • In this month's Maggie Moment parenting, author, educator and host of the Parental As Anything podcast, Maggie Dent shares strategies to help us build self-esteem within our children. Spoiler alert, so much of developing this is about how we as parents and caregivers model self-esteem to them. It's the words we use, the way we speak to our children, the way we connect with them that helps build their confidence and competence, which ultimately can help build their self-efficacy, self-acceptance and self-esteem.

I now have the trouble how to make my daughter 10 yrs old gain self esteem. She’s in a quite competitive school, though she’s working hard, have an over average scores and actively take all kinds of activities, she always feel down because she can not get top rewards or medals. There are always few certain “star” kids there to get all the certificates. What should I talk to her. I can now even feel the same struggle as she is. Life is so hard!😢
