Well done, really helpful, just the sort of thing that makes UA-cam a great resource. You steered me in the right direction so hopefully sharing my experience might help others too: So essentially I had locking and unlocking whilst driving, as though the side door connection was loose and intermittent. Your video made sense so I went and took a look at my van, but upon investigation worked out it was the contacts on the sliding door that needed ‘pulling out’, not the ones on the fixed side. What had happened was as the door was slammed shut, it must’ve got caught at some time against something loaded inside, which actually bent the metalwork on the inside of the sliding door, just beside where the three contact pins are. The bend was very slight and not obvious at first, but once the plastic connector housing was removed you could see the distortion of the metal more easily. I then pulled the metalwork out a little bit using grips, exactly the way you did, and bingo! Absolutely chuffed to bits to get this sorted at zero cost. Thanks for that, the random locking and unlocking (with the interior light going on and off like a strobe light on steroids) had been going on for a couple of months and was driving me mad. There must be loads of people that have slammed their door and caught it on something inside and distorted the metal without even realising, and of course loads moving whilst driving can whack again the side causing the same issue too. It doesn’t take much to cause this problem so I’d endorse your video and tell everyone to at least check it out first. Well done, all the best 👍👍👍
Just a bit more info for anyone this didn't work for, my door stopped locking because of the contact issue, but it was more of an issue than this video, my door runners had worn which ment the door had dropped, so the contacts were out of alignment, I had to put new door runners on in the end but it did solve the problem
Update, if fitting a new roller kit, check that the fitting kit doesn't allow the door to drop. I had to replace my roller kit again and also fit a washer that allowed the roller kit to stay level and not drop. Previously the door contacts didnt align so door sometimes didnt lock.
You may find the spring loaded contacts are actually slipping off the jamb side contacts as the front of the door moves slightly outwards, this shows on the polished wear pattern on the fixed contacts.
silly question, but would the issue affect the locking of the rear doors ( i have traffic sport, ) central lock works on all other doors except the rear door.
I only experienced issues with the side door locking. If the rear is playing up make sure all the rubber seals are in place and look at the catches/lock.
The doors shuts and closes fine, but I think there is a rubber bung missing from the bottom back door / there’s a space where looks like something should be in there,. Would that affect the door not locking?
Cheers for vid. Also worth seeing this chaps video too re the spring connector on opposite side. I’ve commented on that video - might be of interest. Cheers again. ua-cam.com/video/tOV5odiZypg/v-deo.html

Winner! Its worth spending the time investigating like you did to resolve door shut issues as mine drive me nuts.
Thanks mate this worked a treat, if only I'd seen it before I took the door off and part stripped it looking for loose wires or cables.
I always go for the easy options first after years of going in tooled up😀
Very helpful, will do this tomorrow, cheers
Glad it helps👍👍🇬🇧

I think a tripod would help you a lot. great videos by the way!
I've got one but sometimes easier to hold a camera as otherwise more editing. I gimble would be handy though.

@@ewenb1733 That may well cause the alignment to be slightly out. I often look at ebay pics if i need to work out if a part is missing.
5 Minute Man thanks, will have a look
How do I get the door handle off as cant see any screws etc?
Tou have to remove plastic and there is to nuts size 6 what mine socket 10mm
What to do if changed the doors seal looks tight but still water going trough. 😢
Hmm check the seals for breaks or splits and if ok run a piece of paper between rubber and door to check the gap. Might be worn or flattened seal.
Torx size T30 worked for a Kangoo.
Why not silicone around it then wben it's back on it's gonna be out more
What size torx did you use?
Sorry if its not in the video i dont have it in my mind.😁
Propabbly standard 30 as most bolts in traffics 😂
