I've done 63,000km with this 2018 Navara, 40,000 of which were with the 5th wheeler in tow, which weighs in at 3100kg. It's been flawless. It's diesel, auto & 4WD. Other than the sticky tailgate handle, I haven't had any of the issues you've described here. I replaced the tyres at 55,000km.
Hi John. I might have the same trim squeak/rattle on the same area you described. Quite annoying, and unless I get to be the passenger seat (that will be a so rare), I can't pinpoint it. My unit is LHD, so just mirror image of yours. Hope you document and share a video of how you resolve that issue, if you find time. Thanks!
A year ago,my Np300 also developed a rattle around the glove box or door area, its like a low buzz or a washer dancing on its bolt...one time I started the engine and looked around, while doing so,I leaned heavely into the passanger seat and,lo and behold, the buzzing stop but, still can't pinpoint where it is,pretty strange,I will do my best to locate it and if I do,I will report, cheers.
Thanks Mario. Its a frustrating problem because while you are driving you can't find the source. And while you are stationary there is no problem 🤔 I need a passenger!
I have done 40 grand also in mine, the aircon pump seems to be a bit noisy, I think I have got a lot of water in it has I cross a lot of muddy fields, other than that it seems to be fine has you would expect has I usually get 250k out of my Mercedes without problems so 40 is nothing but being a Renault engine I do wonder how long it will last, I am going to test the new 2.0 Ranger soon but have really enjoyed owning my first Japanese truck its been golden must say.
Hi Billy Bigboy. I wouldn't worry too much about the Renault engine. Renaults may not have a perfect rep for reliability but it tends to be electrical or turbo's rather than the engine itself. Also its a refreshed version of the Renault Master engine which has seen years of excellent service. I would be interested to hear your comparison between the test drive of the 2.0 Ranger with your Navara. PS Im at 55,000 now and will be getting a service & posting the next running report.
Bought new navara automatic july 2018. From day one starter problem,,not problem but say every 100 start will struggle to start. just reboot it as such and starts. Gear transmission can be rough also i notice. The squeek is also present since day one but just plastic. overall not bad on juice but i do alot of motorway drives and dont tow or carry at all,,didnt even have toe bar fitted as i just needed height of jeep and car like drive which it has. Most annoying thing i found was fuel gauge,,one min states 80 km remaining then flat lines causing panic esp if not near pump.
I have never had the starting problem aside from when the battery died after just 2 years and 66000 miles but I know what you mean about the fuel gauge
I think you are right Joe. I gave my passenger seat a really good wrestling match and although I didn't hear or feel the 2nd sideway latch into position. I think that is what has happened. No noises yet, so fingers crossed its now resolved.
Have the Battery changed for a new one as part of the deal. (After two years the Varta O.E. ones seem to consistently fail) Check the Sat Nav boots up properly and works within 20 seconds. Buy one without a tow bar. Not because they cant tow. But because you don't know what Huge track laying construction vehicle it has been towing. NP300 is not as big an issue as the earlier evolutions in terms of chassis corrosion, but. certainly Nissan have not covered themselves in Glory here. Check inside the rear wheel arches for rust on the chassis. If its light surface discolouration, then just think of it as a bargaining chip. If anything is flaky or making pin holes then walk away.
Ha ha hah! Genuinely laughed out loud. Because the notification came up so quick that i thought, how is that even possible. I have not watched it yet!! Thanks Antonio👍
Hey John! Just really curious and had to ask you what your experience is with the dpf issue that a lot of diesels suffer from nowadays. Might you be the 1% who hasn't experienced it or is it just that you do a lot of highway/motorway driving at the recommended dpf regeneration duration? Thanks in advance!
No problems for me at all. My overall mileage is massive and on average if I start the engine I don't turn it off again for 2 hrs plus. So I guess im the perfect DPF user. I do believe that as with Ad blu, its a less than ideal patch to keep Diesels legal. Despite the march of electric vehicles, it will be a long while before Diesels are phased out for commercial vehicles. I don't think this technology will ever get much better though as private diesel cars are being squeezed by legislation, which will in turn reduces their popularity as the public becomes more worried about their resale value. The less that get made the less they will develop the technology. 😔
@@ToTheGarage I see! Now I know proper usage DOES work as prescribed by the companies on DPF health. And yes, it's sad that these legislations do truly limit the full potential of diesels-- it's as though every law passed, diesels just get closer and closer to petrol and slowly loses their distinct advantage/s. Thanks for the time, John! Really enjoy your informative videos!
Im scared how scotty kilmer portrays nissan as a bad buy. Im so terrified of my navara breaking down unexpectedly. Although,i have to admit that nissan has a really bad paint job. Clear coat is almost non existent. Interior is cheaply made. The hand brake rattles when its not engaged. Panels are thinly made. I have a 2019 navara 4x4 at in the Phil. Btw. We still have the single turbo. Im almost pretty sure somethings gonna break just after 5 years of ownership, hopefully not. My toyota lasted 22 years without any major problems and my dad never took care of it to say the very least. Hes so cheap that he changes oil every 2 years, push starts it to save on battery.Sold it just this year.i cant really say the same about nissan.i just pray that i wont regret buying a nissan. Not meant to discourage sir. Hope we get the best of our Navaras till its time for a new one.God bless.
Thanks for Watching and thanks for the great comment Francis. I think its fair to say that the Toyota will be the better built and ultimately the more reliable. But I wouldn't fret too much about your Nissan. Its still a fine motor and although I too always watch Scotty's videos, (because they are great fun and I do learn the odd thing or two), you have to remember that he is a showman, and adds in the odd superlative. Most of his video titles start with, Dumb if you buy this Stupid if you do that, and Worst car ever😁. We may receive a slightly different Spec vehicle to you in the UK, but its essentially the same design and Im really enjoying mine. Good luck and Safe Journeys my friend👍 John
Hi Bruno I use the Navara for work and own it through my business. In the UK a Business user is heavily taxed if they have the use of a company car. Vans and Pickups, on the other hand, are relatively favorable. Not everyday admittedly but the ability to carry up to a tonne in the back is also very useful.
Hi Mr Mate Z. I have but in fairness only really easy stuff that I have needed to access sites for work. I have never taken her to an off road course or gone green lane-ing. It something I would like to do though👍

Your tyres have done really. well considering the much higher loads yours has. had than mine. Continentals?

You can count on me fixing it Michael. It is as you suggest though, more a matter of when i get to it!👍

mine was the same drove me insane but found out it was the passenger seat give it a push or pull and you’ll hear the second latch lock problem solved

I was using my phone as the notification popped up. Thought it’d raise a laugh. Cheers.
Hi,I keep getting "4wheel drive error " warning on my dash, but there is no change in the vehicle performance, can you shed some light please
Any plans on getting a new truck, Ford's on an onslaught or you're sticking to ol np300 till 100000 miles

Hi I have a 18 plate navara and when I put it in reverse and start moving I get a loud squealing noise any ideas what this could be thanks
Rear brake shoes need adjusting or replacing

John
nissan is own ow by renoult and thats the end of nissan the criminal CEO made the new cars cheap materials in order to gain more profits
Yes, I wish the paint were better protected as I also have small scratches around the top of the wellside that I try not to notice!
I'm about to buy a second hand np 300 with 90k on the clock, is there any particular problem i should be worried about?
90k mileage is a lot if u ask me. 50k mileage would br more favorable and you get too enjoy the warranty more.look for "garage queen" cars.
Hello
You use a lot of motorway.
Why would you rather ride a pickup instead of an SUV?
Hi Bruno
I use the Navara for work and own it through my business. In the UK a Business user is heavily taxed if they have the use of a company car. Vans and Pickups, on the other hand, are relatively favorable.
Not everyday admittedly but the ability to carry up to a tonne in the back is also very useful.
Any navara owners out there had any engine problems 🤔
Seems not!?
Have you ever been off road in your NP300 👍
Hi Mr Mate Z. I have but in fairness only really easy stuff that I have needed to access sites for work. I have never taken her to an off road course or gone green lane-ing. It something I would like to do though👍
if you have, how is it
you looked where you were going a few times there
Im on a low loader really🤣.
Point taken👍
