If we see someone hurt we help them because we care about others. Seeing someone hurt doesn’t make you care, but for some people it makes them realize that they do.
I like to think that Bill turned his life around after meeting Elliot here. Met someone, fell in love, got out of his job and started doing something he really cared about. He lived the rest of his life a happy man and looked back at all he did with fondness. The end.
Either that or he hid a depressive personality which Elliot triggered. Good job guys - nothing good ever comes out of tearing a person down. He was happy with his life, he didn't need a complex, crazy and stressful life - but people saw fit to look down on him for that.
I actually think Bill liked his job, he seemed genuinely enthusiastic to talk about the indoor roads and fire trucks, so he doesn't even need to leave to find his passion.
He never hurt nobody he was just doing his job, doing it well, and was happy to. That's more than most people can say about anything their own lives let alone work. Stay real, Bill.

The way I’d like to interpret this scene is Elliot may be talking to Bill here, but he’s also talking down to himself, belittling himself for how worthless, how afraid, and how exposed he is. There’s a similar conversation where he’s confessing how he feels in season 3, talking to an E Corp employee while comforting/reassuring himself. The closeups help convey that this is a one-sided exchange. The way I see it, the reason why Elliot keeps repeating Bill’s name is he needs that anchor. If he doesn’t, there’s nothing stopping him from breaking down himself. He’s this 🤏 close to crying. That’s why his attempt to apologize was so immediate. Elliot hates exploiting, but he knows he has to get it done for the mission.

Funny years after this scene I have suddenly remembered it as a flash. This scene always disturbed me. Elliot is the guy who hates the system and society. 1:45 So on this scene from the frist season, we have all of his personalities in one scene. Wow
apart from the host
I'm..so devastated. Bill doesn't deserve this...*cries*
First sign of the MasterMind. He needes to hurt Bill to complete his task.
I love all the subtle nods to the fact that Mr Robot is in Elliott’s head. It’d seem like a plot hole that Mr Robot knew Elliot was about to apologise if we all didn’t already know he wasn’t real!
Funny years after this scene I have suddenly remembered it as a flash. This scene always disturbed me. Elliot is the guy who hates the system and society. Yet, on his mission to bring the corporations down, he hurts the only innocent person in the entire series the most. I was once like Elliot, idealist. Ends justify the means. But these days I believe no struggle is worth even the kingdom of the entire world, if it involves to break innocent hearts intentionally for it. Because after all, if you are not fighting that war against corporations for Bill, who are you even fighting for?
For the few billions other Bills?
I felt sooo bad for him , elliot completely annihilated him
Just saw the episode and it was utterly excruciating. I kept hoping Elliot would some way to contact him after the fact and tell him he took it all back.
This hurts so much but when you think about it, eliot said truth about every one of us
