Lisa and watchers - this style of tarp tent has been around for a long time. I bought my first Chouinard MegaMid (8'x8' - 3 lbs) in 1985. Before that it was a rectangular nylon tarp. It was replaced in the late 1990's with a Black Diamond MegaMid. The virtues of this style of tent are too many to share. I hunted sheep from it for 13-years, untold mountain backpack mule deer hunts. Used it as a group cook tent on Denali and other climbs and solo goat hunts. I now have a 1.5 lb Hyperlite version 7'x9' and do appreciate the weight difference but canoeing the 8'x8' footprint is IMO best. Lisa is right. Love the stove idea! Very cool. You, stove, and all your gear fits inside. Brilliant.
I took my Mountain Laurel Designs Supermid (9ft x 9ft) to the BWCA two summers ago. The only drawback I found was keeping the interior dry while entering/exiting in the rain. Otherwise, nothing can beat a pyramid for the space-to-weight ratio.
Easily my favourite youtube channel. Really great content and I love how you get right to it. My Old Man ADHD can't abide rambling. Great stuff and I love that you are coming from such a strong cultural tradition of multi-generational knowledge combined with your own unique spin. Super! Appreciation from the Yukon!
Nice little tent you got there. l just bought a "backwoods bungalo" from One Tigis, l find it easier to get in and out of than my dome tent. Old arthritic knees lol
I was just recently looking at those tents, saw one in a late season canoe trip video and looked pretty good with the little wood stove. I'm not a big person either so looks like it would be good for solo trippin.
Mine did not sustain in the wind. The tent spikes that it came with do not support the tent very well and the latches came off those spikes very easy. Also they are way to thin and pull upwards causing the tension on the tent to lose tension causing collapses. I was going to return it after it collapsed on me but will give it another chance as i got better pegs.
Yes. The easiest way to update the tent stakes is to buy aluminum rod at the Hardware store. Cut and bend in a vise or get foot long nails at the hardware store. Good luck.

I have the same set up, different manufacturer. Also quite happy with the different set ups depending on stove or no.
Thanks for sharing. To me, having 1/2 the footprint be the ground is a big advantage as well.

Thanks so much for watching. I love being able to give back to a sport that’s given me so much. The Yukon wow. What a playground!!
Another great video. Also loved the hardware purchase video. Thank you.

Very nice! I also like that in the pouring rain you can let yourself in this tent and not get you sleep system wet. Thanks for watching.
Now all us big fellas want to know what tent your husband uses 😂
He doesn’t get cold like I do so he goes with a 4 man dome. They make this tent in a 4 man that’s bigger.
Enjoyed your video thanks for posting 👍
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the informative review! Knowing your height makes all the difference. I'm not 6'2", but it sounds like I'd want to go bigger.
They do make a 4 man that’s bigger.
. @3_Minutes_With_a_Maine_Guide Thanks, good to know. I'll check it out.
What brand is it?
FIREHIKING. I believe they make a 2 man (the one I have) and a 4 man that’s bigger. I paid about $150.
