ok well I don't live feed but just saying fish eat other fish in there natural habitats. I am not for or against live feedings but its not for me.btw love bichirs got 4 of them myself
Absolutely agree with you all the way through and perfect ending. Thank-you John for being that one UA-camr brave enough to stand up for the little fish and make a video about it. I have so much respect for you and Lisa and your ethics in life and your business. This is why you have such a beautiful huge group of followers and successful fish community.
Stunning video with an even more stunning end! Good for you John and thank you. There are vicious pin-heads in the ham radio hobby. Your ending gave me the courage to end my next vid the same. lol. Be well and please, another Lisa Special soon! :)
Actually laughed out loud at that ending 😂. Totally agree with you on the feeder fish, just cruelty for pleasure! Keep up the great work and keep being you 👍
John, Great video. I rescued a jack Dempsey female from my lfs. They told me the previous owners would feed their tank live fish and she was used to that. I said nope she is going to eat pellets or flakes. It took her a few days to get her switched over and she is healthy and happy wating cichlid flakes and cichlid pellets. Actually my fish are fed so good i don't think they would even try to eat live. Unless it was an unattentional. Appreciate the ending lol ....
Back in the days when I had oscars, I was encouraged to feed live fish, but I balked. I realize fish eat other fish, so that never bothered me. What I was concerned about was disease. I didn't have room a large enough quarantine tank back in those days, so any feeder fish would have to go straight from the store to the oscars. NO WAY was I willing to put them at risk for ich or any other number of things I saw in store tanks. I figured they were getting what they needed, between the commercial foods I gave them (most of their diet) and the ground beef and chunks of frozen fish I could get my hands on.
Great fish. Maybe you should consider one or two powerful WaveMakers to get that bottom detritus floating so it can get captured by your filtration. Strong flow is usually enjoyed by the fish as a plus.
Like the fact you share with us a typical feeding plan/schedule, helps shaping ideas about. Who would also like a video all about the updates with the saltwater tank? Looks like the fish are doing well.
Only fish i buy i want to get ate is on the end of my fishing line! And yeah, i like extreme in my house, have several differebt kinds. My fish all love those new so-fly flakes. Food Lion references making me homesick again...
I got some new tank plants for our Betta and the lady at the store accidentally scooped up two fry into the bag (as I think they had it as a grow out tank and didn't label it - some stores near me do this often so the plants as used to fish). When I discovered this they were already in the tank. I was going to fish them out but because the tank is heavily planted trying to get to them was hopeless. Ziggy however hasn't cared about their existence, he loves to top of the tank hiding in floating plants and playing with the filter so these fry have had full freedom to swim around un bothered in the middle and bottom of the tank. It's been a week and I can already tell they are either endlers or guppies - both look female too. I do keep making attempts to get them out but now Ziggy is just treating them like they've always been there and won't let me 😅 I think he's adopted them ... he's also probably too well fed to be bothered to eat them thank goodness but we'll definitely be keep my eyes on them. Free fish is better than more snails in plants anyday!
Fabulous ending, John. In middle school our 7th grade classroom had about a dozen tanks, which include a Gar and a tank of piranhas. There were a few boys that loved it when it was time to feed goldfish. 🤢
On I know what you were going to say there at the end..go Find yourself a new hobby..lol.. Right John...have a great day...oh and happy Mothers day Lisa..😁
One hundred percent agreement! My policy has always been that if i have to own an animal that i have to feed another live animal to it for it to exist, then i dont need that animal. No interest at all!
I always wanted an Oscar to watch it feed in love fish since I was a kid. I didn’t know anything about fish and I’m still currently learning today. I still think it’s cool but I won’t be risking it with my Oscar’s when I get them haha
If your tank is that messy constantly you need better filtration. I have a very heavily stocked tank with an oscar, big goldfish and a severum and never have any stuff on the bottom of my tank. Apart from some algae due to the light my tank is always spotless.
@ KG Tropicals I'll admit when I first had Oscars, I did think feeders were a necessary evil. However, mine ended up befriending one that grew as large as them. I would never practice feeding live again. Live and learn.
Epic ending! I farm basic shrimp to feed to some of my fish, like the rope fish. But I'd never feed a live fish to another fish. It's just going too far. Mostly it's pellets or flakes, or frozen food.
I have a mini monster fish a convict. He had a blue gill that was 2.5 times the size and he was the tank boss. But then he was in a 55 gallon white drum and he was a albino. So for 3 months I thought he got eaten by a cat.
I wouldn't Dream of feeding a goldfish to another fish!😮 This actually happened eons ago when a friendly neighbour asked if she could have some of my baby guppies and discovered a couple days later they were food for her own fish 😢Didn't talk to her afterwards. Neighbours can be cruel!
Living food has a living microbiome that supports good health. I hate watching it, but i always supplement with living food appropriate to the size fish im feeding... I'm not a monster...
I didn't say live food, I said live feeder Goldfish. If you're going to make the argument that live Goldfish are healthy to feed your fish you're gonna make yourself look silly, even if you use fancy words like "Microbiome".
Goldfish have little to no nutritional value. However, pregnant guppies are a good source of calcium, and as mentioned before, the microbiome including bennificial gut bacteria.
Hey KgTropicals, the common/comet goldfish in your tub may grow to 18-24” and for about five they might need a 300-340 gallon wide pond or stock tank and more filtration than usual. Have a nice day
Don't let other people judging you cause you to become so judgemental. I like your videos, but the ones where you get defensive about an opinion feels like a waste of my time. I only watch these because I trust your opinion in most cases, and your reviews and info. Your human, you can make mistakes.
Ummmmmm...... at what point of the video was I worried about people judging me? Believe me I'm not a snowflake that worries about people judging me, I'm an adult.
When is standing up for the little fish judging when there is plenty of healthy fish foods options available. He made a point in the video you must have missed that.

Completly agree my friend. If you are animal lover, how do you enjoy see an animal eating other animal?

That Burr fish/puffer is soooo darn cute.
One of the things I saw today that made me happy, in petco…EMPTY Feeder tanks! No feeders being sold made my heart happy! Love the ending !!
I agree completely. And I love your ending! 😀👍
The ending was priceless!!!!!😂😂😂
John, I love the channel. You dropped the mic on that one! 🤣🤣. Happy Mother’s Day to Lisa 💐.

I second a wavemaker.. they’re a game changer. And if not a huge fan, just have it on a timer :)
You need to start selling that Tetra Jumbo Shrimp fish food. I can't find it anywhere around here... you know, other than the evil empire.
That ending! 😂🙌🏻
Those bichirs and oscsrs are so nice!
Lol! That ending 😂🤣
Favorite video ...everrrrr! especially the ending 😊
My goldfish looks like an oversized bluegill and is about 8" long.Very pacifist and friendly fish. Was the best 30cent purchase I ever did...
The ending got me 😂 So true though!
Love it! And the ending 😂
Love it! Didn’t know about the arowana food i’ll have to check that out. Always a good video when the bichir get a shout out!!
AWESOME ENDING 😂😂😂😂😂

Your videos have helped me learn so much about fish I am currently cycling my tank and will be getting guppy’s Friday:)
Killer fish room, wow! 👍

Funny ending
I agree with the feeder fish 👍

I did too, I was so glad when I found out that they receive no benefit from live Goldfish.
that was great lol 100%
😂
What is your opinion of the Top fin silent stream 75?
Love!
Amen
My Oscar he always waits in the corner cause he knows that’s where I see the tank from when coming in the room it’s adorable
Bravo
Well said…

Do you still have that common pleco in there and if not you should
I showed him during the water change montage.
I agree entirely goldfish should not be food for other fish
i feed mine with C2 pellet its only 4-5 inch long i dont know how much i should feed my bichir anybody can tell me how mucg c2 i can feed?
is it a 10 foot or 8 foot oscar tank?
I wish my Oscar’s would be that way they take all the food from my bichir . I have to feed him with tongs
they need rumbas for fish tanks
i've accidentally used live feeder fish. like when you get a school of neons and realize that one of your fish eats them daily
What's the name of the fish on the left side of the screen on minute 3:26. Looks like a mini barracuda
Appears to be a species of Rhamphochromis , a genus of predatory cichlids from Lake Malawi.

Yeah, tell them to go we don't need them here! I don't like how people feed goldfish to other fish, goldfish are my favorite fish (so far)
