BENT Trans Beam Repair (Tacoma)

In this video, I show you how to repair a bent transmission beam on a Toyota Tacoma as well as replace the transmission mount. This is part 2 of the trail repair series and for this repair I do recommend having a hydraulic press for this purpose.

Of course another #10...could the transmission of stayed in position without the transmission jack or does it's weight require support at all times without the cross member there? I understand that the transmission jack enables you to lift the transmission higher to get access for the cross member and hands etc

Thanks for watching, George. To answer your question, the motor and transmission assembly is supported by the motor mount and the transmission mount. If the transmission jack was removed, it over stresses the motor mounts and premature wear or completely damage those motor mounts

Ok, cool this is useful. Oddly, the stealership removed that heat shield and tossed it, they said it was just full of rocks and mud and was only there to make noise. Are you making your own skids?

You do have the crawler box too so it moves your front drive shaft a bit further back. from what I can deduce, I think the heat shield is to protect the u joints from excessive heat so we don't lose the grease in those joints. With regards to the skids, YESSIR! I'm just very slow when it comes to mods, since I do make most of my mods essentially from scratch LOL. I'm working on a shackle flip for long travel on the rear at the moment, you'll probably see that on IG first
