These guys should thank Cayin as the Diana were unbeatable at the quiet Cayin room on the side. I immediately bought mine specifically because of just how jaw dropping they sounded on the Cayin amps. It trounced the solid sate gear shown here. At that area displayed in video the noise masks the details as the Diana which is very open and transparent to outside noise. I do not know why they dont boast about its specs. On my measurement rig they have the cleanest CSD plots of any Headphone ever. Especially in lower registers. It is an unheard of experience to have such clean deep bass. We also talking cleaner overall sound than an HD800. IMHO they are more transparent than a Utopia as well(!) Similar presentation in Soundstage proximity so not as expansive as the Phi. Nitpicks: This Headphone needs similar power like the HEKV2 tho. And People with larger ears may still complain so I would make another pad "XL" size in future. There is nothing else to nitpick. You will hear zero sibilance as the FR notches that out . Sonic size is large and immediate with lots of clarity, speed and presence. Hats off to Abyss guy for really pushing the boundaries of performance..
Lambda Storm I did not focus on bottom end but presentation as a whole. I also liked the d8000 but the Diana has a bit more closer presentation and a live breath presence that is not on any Headphone, yet at the cost of closer Soundstage distance. This makes the Diana more alive . The image size is still large and deep but presentation closer and details in whole spectrum come thru. I basically was not impressed with the d8000 so did not spend time with it. yet it would be a susbtitute for for others who want a high resolution with a different signature . If you compare this to an HD800 then it is more comparable as the Soundstage is similar. The Abyss Phi is still superior to any planar I tried.
Yeah buddy that's what I'm gonna say as well. Abyss/Diana has this sort of magic that takes you back to the recording studio. I'm impressed by both headphones. In the end I think D8K might edge out just a little bit in bass (to my ears they sound more like a dynamic headphone) but Diana takes the lead in resolution and details, dynamics also seems better on the Diana.
Tyll, used to be a reliable source of reviews, but changes his "Best headphones since sliced bread" headphones every sunday and saturday. Don't believe me? Check his wall of fame + retired list.
Sergey Sedlovsky He is still a reliable source, great headphones like focal utopia, hd 800 and SR 009 are technically brilliant but are tonally a bit flawed. My only problem is for a guy who cares so much about "tonality", why did he put focal elear on the WOF, he said that they have no "achilles heel" yet now he discovered their sonic issues (which he should have discovered in his first review), I don't think he got a cherry picked unit of elear like Utopia anyway.
I've had a listen to Focal Utopia, they are very transparent, so whichever source you're listening to will matter. for sure, their highs can be piercing if not treated, but I like the presentation where Details are in your face... and when I've heard what I considered to be good recording they were just as good if not better through a system that is definitely inferior to mine, that was in a store, I'm thinking my system will rock these out, and yes, I'll be getting them soon. Currently I'm running HD800S with Audio-gd Master 9 amp and LKS DAC.
Also had a chance to buy LCD-3's, they are good but not my tonal taste, I much prefer the sound through my HD800S than LCD-3's beside the fact that I don't remember if his review covered the fact that LCD-3's die every few days, yeah.
Munich is a beautiful country.
Something has to change, the tradeshow floor environment is probably the worst environment to listen to headphones.
Dayum, looks comfortable! Wish the stiching was less noticable/same color as the leather
When is the next one for New York Again?

Since you spent some time at Cayin booth, how would you compare Diana to D8000? Both are planars with very un-planar like bottom end.

fidelio X2s were supposed to be “For the first time, I think I'm hearing a near perfect tonal balance in a headphone”
