I think that Barbara Minty brought Steve a peace that had so long eluded him. I think she helped him become the man he always wanted to be. God Bless, Barbara.
Barbara Minty is so a beautiful woman. Every word is so full of love to Steve, still yet. Thanks for uploading, love this guy and actor. He was really great.
The Last Mile was an extremely moving read, beautifully written by Barbara. Steve will definitely be proud of her! Perhaps the best thing Steve could have done was pick up the phone and called her agent, the last few years of his were definitely some of the most honest moments of happiness for him and that is thanks to Barbara.
Agree & my favorite later on is Thomas Crown Affair. Ppl may not know that Love w/the Proper Stranger was made after Bullit. I was surprised cause he looks younger in Stranger
@@lynnecrisp Where on earth did you get "after Bullitt" from? There's a reason Steve looked younger in (Natalie too), that film was in '63. Bullitt was 68.
Barbara you had a beautiful life with Steve McQueen. He obviously made you feel needed and wanted. Which is a feeling every woman desires to have in a relationship...
•••• Barbara ... truly -- thank you for sharing that. The next time I see my Doctor, I'll ask him to do a full chest x-ray, etc., as, when I was 14, I worked over the Summer in maintenance in a skyscraper in San Francisco (THE FOX PLAZA on Market Street) that had asbestos in the massive air conditioning units up top. I am now 62 and yes -- being aware of asbestos is something everyone should know. Keep at it, kid ... as what you are doing now -- and in Steve's memory, matters and will save lives. Bliss & Namaste. My father had mesothelioma from asbestos it is a real horror for the family to get through 🙌 blessings to McQueen family he is now in a better place with our lord rip Steve you will never be forgotten
Probably because it was not a direct cause and effect. He was a movie star, thus not exposed like a construction worker . There is a class action fund that is still paying out. The defense would want to present his car racing with asbestos brakes and desert racing on a motorcycle (Serpentine rock is asbestos ) the ship cleaning and Hollywood use was probably too distant to site.
Ironically it's said he hated women deep inside early on cause of mama & that's why he treated them so bad but later as he mellowed & got sick he changed. Thank God he went to Heaven. Some ppl u can't imagine in hell. I adored & still do luv him so much. I luv the way he protected Natalie in the abortion scene
Papillon was my favorite Steve McQueen movie. The Hunter was a great one too and in that movie the producer makes or gives the feeling like it is going to be his last movie.?
I will have to watch this one. Since about a month I started collecting (I'm at 9 DVD) and watching movies from McQueen. Papillon was the second I watched after Bullit and truly surprised me.
@@michaelhegyan7464 Marlon Brando took it. The Godfather is in my top 3 movies but now after seeing Papillon, I wonder why he didn't at least get a nomination.
@@Erynnin No, Jack Lemmon took it. Papillon was released in 1973. If Steve McQueen had a nomination it would've been in the 74 Oscar edition. Marlon Brando won in 73 because The Godfather was released in 1972.
It can't be said that it was the smoking. Not everyone who dies of cancer smokes, and he did have mesothelioma. I have known chain smokers who never got cancer.
Katherine Brady All I’m saying is that to discount his years of smoking is a joke. Many of old guys were exposed to mesothelioma and didn’t smoke survived longer than Steve.
She doesn't know much about him at all since they were married less than a year before his death. 18months after Ali MacGraw Divorced him. So it's nice that's she said some pretty nice things about him with the little she knows personally about him as a person. He was married to his 1st Wife Neile Adams for 16yrs, they had 2 Kids a Son & Daughter. He was married to Ali MacGraw 5yrs-his close friends said "He was madly in love with Ali MacGraw until the day he died."
@3:28 I think that might be Von Dutch's hangout. (?) He did pin striping and other custom work on a few movie star buddies as he was famous in the car world since the late '50s.
I really think it was the chain smoking that did him in. My dad was a heavy smoker it did him in as well. That is why I hate those -- sobs-- at Phillip Morris.

She looks so much better than when she was on Letterman promoting her book.
Wonder why none of the public info ads on tv regarding mesothelioma include anything about Steve McQueen?

I love Steve McQueen, but are you going to dismiss all of his years of smoking that contributed to his death???

The filter in Kent cigarettes was asbestos. They even bragged about it calling it the Micronite filter.
I'm sure the fact that Steve-O was a lifelong heavy smoker had nothing to do with it. Yeah Right!
He smoked light cigarettes.
