In 1944, when this film was first shown , World War II was still raging. Although it was evident that the tide had turned, and victory by the Allies seemed more and more likely to come in the next year or so, sons, husbands, brothers, and boyfriends were still dying by the thousands. As cheerful as most of this movie is....patrons in the theater could be heard to be sobbing aloud during this song.
@@IanKinsler5I just realized remember her Judy Garland was in movie house looking back flash back past life look back story about her life in the in movie theater 😭 I think about it
Judy Garland is iconic. I absolutely love the line - “Someday soon, we all will be together If the fates allow Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow…” It really encapsulates the struggles of so many families, but is somewhat encouraging.

I noticed that versions starting with Frank Sinatra’s cover had a few changes to the lyrics 1:512:17 “Next year all our troubles will be out of sight” and “Next year all our troubles will be miles away” had the “next year” be revised to “from now on” 3:15 “until then we'll have to muddle through somehow," was revised to, "hang a shining star upon the highest bough”
This scene is moving on its own merits, but it's so much sadder when you recall what MGM pushed her into; the "uppers", "downers , "energy" drinks, diets because she was "too fat". By the time she finished filming "The Wizard of Oz," she was already addicted to a cocktail of drugs. But, her lovely, expressive face, and beautiful, unique voice still live on and have the power to move people deeply. What a tragedy that Judy didn't live to see how loved she would remain.😢❤
That’s the same Warren who called Rose long-distance in the beginning of the film. He had to get himself angry to muster up the nerve to barge in after midnight to say he’s going to marry Rose. ☺️😂 8:51

This song ALWAYS makes me 😭 aloud.

This is my favorite Christmas song. It's Judy at her best. She also looks stunning and is every inch a Movie Star.
I agree 100%! In my opinion I don’t think anyone should be allowed to sing Judy Garlands songs lol
Not Xmas until I hear Judy sing it.

This is the most perfect film of all time (in my humble opinion).
I 100% agree with you
Not Xmas until I see this, and hear Judy sing this song.
A treasure. Not Xmas until I hear Judy sing this.
I agree! ❤
Fun Fact: Liza Minneli said this was her favorite movie.
My favorite Christmas song of all time from Judy garland
This movie and in particular Judy singing this song is a religious experience for me every Christmas Eve.
How that bloke just storms in is the most funniest thing ever
It’s funny, I’ve never seen this movie, but, it’s up there with my favorite Christmas songs. ❤️
If Tootie’s snowman breakdown doesn’t break your heart, nothing will. 😭💔 3:58
It’s the bear head for me
Love everything about this movie especially these scenes!!! Truly a masterpiece!!!
Such an beautiful lady !!!
I can watch this movie at any time, again and again. It's magic.
Loved this movie, loved the music. I saw the move in the theater when I was about 12. Still remember it. I wish they would show it again.

3:15 “until then we'll have to muddle through somehow," was revised to, "hang a shining star upon the highest bough”
Frank Sinatra and others do a disservice by changing the lyrics and the overall hopefulness of the tune.

This is my favorite song from the movie 🎥 and its my favorite for the holiday
For me, it's not the song that brings me to tears as much as it is the snow people being smashed.
Merry Christmas! 🎅 🎄 ❤
One of my favorites Christmas movies! 💖🎄🎅💫
One of My favorites Movies ❤
I equally love both Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli in both The Wizard of Oz 1939 Movie and Journey Back to Oz 1972 Movie.
That part made me 😔 that Tootie was 😭 then Esther hug Tootie
#antiwork. Glorious. Glad this clip shows Tooty destroying her snow people and their father’s reaction. I cry over that.
Clang, clang, clang, went the trolley
Thx

I wish that Judy Garland was my sister.
This song was written by my former neighbor, Ralph Blane.
Let’s hear about him. They wrote some great songs
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Funny that he says what be says about St Loius. Next thing ya know... World's Fair!
The smoking part was edited out, but that marriage proposal was kept in?
Who's here after SNL?
No one because there's no relevance 😂❤

Has anybody else watched this film and noticed how grainy the print looked? Does anybody know why that is?
The beauty of Mrs Smith struck me. Who is the actress ?
Tootie is crazy
She needs to go to sleep. 😂
The girl and her family are moving to someplace very different. Show some sympathy.

It's not white, like 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is, because it's not his truth - it's hiding what he is, his love.
It's not about loving women, it's about loving your work. Understanding the camera and taking the best angle.
You've got to sink into the bank of the camera, and your instinct is informed from that.
A bit like The Magnificent Ambersons. I don't know what he was. I know what he liked.
Are you alright?
