I feel embarrassed that I’ve had TG-6 for a year not knowing some features. I’ve learned from you on Time-Lapse function - but a BIG “Thank You” for the language CLARITY and slow paced which allows me to hear every word, a real plus compared to fast talk from other presenters.
Love the delivery style and the "to the point" explanations. Well done. Just bought one.
A very calm and relaxing review. I'm new to cameras, looking for something I can take outside and wont have to cry over if I drop it, but can still give nice pics.

Very impressed with your introduction to this camera. I've been carrying a Lx-7 around in my bicycle bags and pockets for too long and it battered but mostly functional. This seems, from this preview, to be a worthy replacement especially when you cannot count on the weather. Thank You Dave.
You should take better care of your camera and not be so stupid though. I also bicycle bag carry and never "battered" one.

Great detailed video, thanks very much for posting as it was very helpful in contributing to my purchase decision.Very impressed with the Tg6 so far. Mainly using it for underwater macro video work, I also use it with the Olympus PT-059 housing. Amazed at the quality footage this is producing. I normally shoot at 1080 60fps which gives that nice flexibility of slowing down in post.

Thank you for this interesting video. I ordered a TG-6 today ready for a holiday in a few weeks. My Purchasing decision was mostly driven by which cameras were available to buy. This video has reassured me I haven't bought a donkey!
My 870 had a protective lens cover, this didn't have it, so I purchased for extra that which I believe you explained and showed-first time out of all the instruction videos- Thank you.

I love my tg-6. I take it with me everywhere, even took it down to 80ft underwater without a housing.
Where do I find a time lapse settings on TG-6?
I am new to the TG series. To be clear, at 2.50, the cover shown is an optional item. But it does come with an unscrewable transparent cover as seen at 0.21. One important item that should be mentioned is there is no Manual Mode, so you cannot set the shutter speed directly, except when you alter the exposure comp setting or play around with the scene settings. Aperture priority with limited to 3 steps e.g. Tele 4.9,6.3,18, Wide 2, 2.8, 8 norm 2.3, 3.2, 9. I'm treating this camera as a fun camera to shoot on rainy days. There aren't many alternative waterproof camera that give you full manual control without needing a large bulky and expensive housing. You got to realise this camera is relatively cheap so don't expect all bells and whistles. Even nowadays a camera phone has more functionality. But isn't as rugged as this. This camera seems well built and the seals at entry points seem good. I am using this camera on holidays when it is raining and my A7riii would get soaked, full of condensation which takes ages to get rid of fogged lenses and viewfinder. Wish there was an optional lenshood which could help reduce flare but also protect the lens from rain droplets when shooting in raining. Please do correct me if I have any facts wrong.

You don’t use adapter ring to attach LG1, Just remove the front ring!
Was going for a GoPro hero 7 black , I've studied loads of videos but your one alone has made my decision for me .. it's the tg 6 for me ( the lenses swung it I think )

I've got the TG4 and have been happy with it. The TG6 has the benefit of a few years of improved technology and I might also get myself one of these for my upcoming trip to Indonesia.

Action Cameras use CCD and Tough Cameras use CMOS. CMOS gives better low light images but they suffer from jello effect when shaken. Which you pick should depend on how whether you're shooting action shots or low light.
Like a TG-5 but with higher resolution rear monitor.
TG-5 had alot more updates Than TG-4 but for fast motion video the TG-4 focusing out of the box worked best. TG-5 & TG-6 change focus from centre spot to average area. Amazing quality compared to Go pros.

HiBit of a long shot don't know if anyone can help?I am travelling in the next few weeks and like the look of the TG6. I have an old Canon DSLR that I don't want to carry around. Though I like taking photos I am still after many many years pretty useless on the technical side. I want an easy to use rugged camera. Will not do underwater shots.Unfortunately I do not have much time to get used to the camera before I'm off. My fault! Can you recommend some easy to locate settings for landscape/street photography. I'm ok with iSO but the rest more or less baffles me and I've never used an Olympus before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I agree. After some digging, I was able to find the cover. It is called a LB-T01 lens barrier.
As long as you don't get it under water. My camera will no longer charge. Any suggestions why?

I'd say it's worth the upgrade. The TG3 was released in 2014 and there's been six years of development in the technology since then.

I have the TG-4 and have been thinking about upgrading. Is the TG-5 or TG-6 worth paying the $450 to upgrade? If so, which would you recommend and tell me why the upgrade is worth spending the money. Nice review, I like how you presented everything. But I don't recall why the TG-6 is better than the TG-5.
only screen pixels and menu options are better at the tg6, all the rest is the same. buy a used tg5 its the best solution

I cannot find the setting to turn on the slow mo, found a how-to video for the tg-5 but not for the tg-6, I swear I've been through every setting menu and I can't find it

I just bought this and it makes this awful clicking sound while recording. Does anyone know anything about this and can it be fixed?
I own the TG-5 since 2017 and it's really a great camera. I am using it while running, shooting video and photos. The TG offers many options, a very easy menu and a good quality of video and photo. Impressive for a camera with such a small sensor.

microscope mode and video mode are two different modes
I've used the Toughs to shoot surfers which has gotten me some great images, but water spots have always been a problem. Does anyone use RainX or would that damage the apparently fragile front lens plastic?

It weighs about 30 grams more than the latest iPhone. Or about the same weight as the latest iPhone plus 30 paperclips. I think you'll be ok walking about, even all day.

Because there aren't many differences to speak of, the TG-6 is basically a TG-5 with a firmware update and a couple button/dial changes. Disappointing update. I own a TG3 and a TG5, my TG3 takes better photos and video than my TG5
Great question! My goal with this initial video was a broad-based overview of the camera and the line itself, especially for viewers not yet familiar with it. In our Preview (and subsequent Field Tests) we'll certainly discuss and take a look at the key differences. With this video, we'd literally just received the camera, and wanted to have something for viewers at the time of its release just days later.
Why did they get rid of the articulating screen? The old ones had it and that's the only reason I'm not buying this.

Just a suggestion on you video technique. Most of the time, the TG-6 is a small object in the middle of the screen - too small to see what’s on the LCD. Most of the image is your hands, sleeves, and blank space (which are not of interest). Zoom in so the camera itself is large in the frame so we can see the camera as you manipulate it.

One issue not mentioned is there’s no protection for the front glass, the cameras promoted as tough & shown on beaches & in rivers. These environments have sand & as there’s no way of putting a protective filter then the glass can be scratched. Getting it repaired costs around £150. Saying you don’t have to worry about anything is misleading, on every camera I own there’s a filter to avoid this issue but non of the so called Olympus Tough cameras have a way of protecting the glass from accidents. How easy would it to have had a clip on front glass to protect the expensive to replace piece at the front of the camera
Kind'a strange review of a camera where all the footage is of one prior. Not a fan of that, sorry.
Don't buy this camera unless you don't mind having a pink anomaly in the center of many images.

DO NOT BUY. I had the predecessor. The little door to the usb-connector broke off due to a stupid accident. It appears that Olympus doesn't repair camera's as soon as the 2 year warranty period has passed. You cannot get it repaired anywhere else, because it is a specific part only available via Olympus. So if something happens and you'd need a repair, you can just throw your camera away after the 2 year warranty period has passed.
I tried to contact Olympus on this, but they don't even react on my request for a solution. The customer service of this company is so terribly lousy. .. It's a good camera, but as soon as some accident happens and you need a repair you're busted. My advise would be: NEVER buy Olympus.

Both TG-5 and 6 images is shit I don't understand why I bought them... Even a Galaxy S5 camera would beat this crap.
I regret buying tg 6 , videos are not found or read on smartphones , it can not trasfer or upload videos to social media by cellphones ,
