AT&T internet how to and set up. What to look for when installing or what you need

I dropped AT&T as soon as I was able to when I moved out of a Monopoly AT&T controlled apartment complex.
I wouldn't drop them if they didn't throttle and cap speed to snail speeds, felt like 1990's with AT&T.

What did you have. Was it copper based 5/1 profile?
Never had any issues with my fiber.
