I live in Carmel CA. Clint was the Grand Marshall at the Carmel Centennial Parade and the poncho is indeed a faded olive color. I've also seen it up close at a Sergio Leone exhibit at the Autry Museum of the American West. Nice job.
Thanks for the comment. I think one of the confusion’s people have is that there was in fact two ponchos seen in behind the scenes photo’s. One brown and one olive.
@@Cosplayvicar I’m still waiting for it to arrive but I do really appreciate your video on it! Your entire outfit is spot on! That hat is amazing as well!
Only things I could really add - Clint’s shirt is almost always tucked in, he gets it untucked in some fight scenes or if he’s being thrown around the room and tortured, but it’s generally tucked in (as most people would do back then). To add to that, You’re also missing a belt to hold your pants up, the gunbelt just holds his pistol. Lastly, I’m pretty sure that he wears narrow square toed boots instead of R or snip toe like most people assume.
The neck accessories is a black neckerchief and tied at the back. I think he wears it due to the rope burns he got being hung in Hang em high. Clint didn't get rope burns, but his character did, and he wore the same in many films.
Great outfit!!! Could you please share the vest measurements? Or if you have some pattern to share would be appreciated a lot! I would really like to make a vest cause I don’t like what I see on sale :) Thanks
I actually made it by pattering it around my body shape. Sadly I don’t have anything to share now. I simply used brown paper to draw out, cut out and put on. Made adjustments to get the shape I wanted.
Cool video. I enjoy learning from your research. Hollywood prop seemed to have figured out the poncho long ago. They also secured an autograph signing deal with patrick mcgoohan. They work magic!
Nice:) How did you weather the poncho? I have the same one … was thinking of dirtying it up with gravel road dust. I am struggling to find decent boots. Any ideas? Hollywood prop also has a vest available. Yours looks good. :) My hat was custom made by Knudsen hats. Your costume looks great!!! I believe Clint has his railroad shirt tucked in though :)
That’s a great question. I first tried to naturally weather with soil, sand and smoke. It was all way too subtle. So I ended up using my air brush with burnt umber and dark brown. I have done even more since then and I’m more pleased with it. If I was doing again I would use a spray called “dirty down”. It’s a wreathing spray.
@@spaztekwarriorjust look for any narrow square toe in brown or light brown, I think brand should be up to what feels comfortable and looks closest to you. I personally use Laredo, but you might not like them.
That's a cool outfit. I have the poncho from the Spaghetti Western site there somewhere on Long Island NY. The hat and gun belt are to expensive. I can't justify spending 600 Dollars on a hat. I managed to find one in a western shop. It's not accurate but it's close. Made the shirt and the sheep skin vest / Jillat. The gun belt I found on a car boot sale again not accurate to what Clint wears. The gun is from Denix replicas have yet to put the silver snakes the stocks .
@@Cosplayvicar Actually, I didn't think you would, ;) I wouldn't! What I did do yesterday is take a cheap costume hat I had with the right colour and general shape and made some alterations to the height of the hat and was shocked at how close it looks now and only cost £7.00 ! it's way better than the straight line productions version I have! Im made up with it! :)
@@Cosplayvicar thanks! This always confused me, I know it’s olive in the first 2 movies, but I’m sure it was brow on the last one😭💀I’ve seen some that are double sided and have both colors, but I wasn’t sure about the accuracy. I’ve also seen older Clint wearing a brown one instead of an olive one but that could be due to the legacy of the movie🤔

I finally ordered this exact poncho from them and they custom made it to my measurements. Thank you for having the best video of this poncho!
That’s awesome. I didn’t know they did that. They are a great company and so helpful.

He has his cigar on the left BTW

Sadly the maker is no longer on Etsy. That’s where I connected with them.

How long is the poncho?
All the measurements can be found on the website I bought from. The link is in the show notes.
Wasn’t the poncho brown in the movie?🤔😭
Ha ha. Great question. That’s a big debate. The poncho was olive but once the colour grading was done it looked brown a lot of the time.
