Damn that is one of the best 'Man with No Name' costumes I've seen. You nailed it buddy (and you kinda look similar to Eastwood too). Well done and thanks for the video :)
No cigar?? sacrilage!!! lol Awesome costume man, that poncho colour is perfection, really worth the added cost for the expensive one! Love the hat too, easily the best hat and poncho i've seen on a guy wearing a replica. LOVE the wrist leather sheath thingy too, that absolutely nails the look
Actually, the poncho (there was only one) was originally green but the sun faded it to a greenish-brown. I've seen the original poncho at the Autry Museum Of Western Heritage Sergio Leone exhibit; and the gun and poncho were on exhibit; one could see some parts were more faded than others (Eastwood loaned the stuff to the Leone Exhibit). And since there were holes in it caused by Ramon shooting through the poncho to the metal shield, those holes were simply sewn up and most times Eastwood would rotate the poncho so the holes were away from the camera. But there were a few times that he or someone didn't notice, so the sewn up part was visible not only in some scenes in the latter two films but also in "Fistful of Dollars" in scenes preceding the Ramon gunfight, as scenes are generally filmed out of sequence for economy and practicality.
The Colt SAA in .45LC with the 5 1/2" barrel was used in both Fistful and FAFDM, while the 1851 Navy, converted to fire .38LC was used in TGTBaTU only, if I remember right. Btw, your entire collection is amazing...it's nice to see someone from what I'd consider to be the "younger generation" truly appreciate the greatness of the Leone Trilogy films. Beautiful collection, sir!
In the first two movies, there were o back-up props. One poncho, one hat, one vest, one pair of boots, etc. The boots actually belonged to Eastwood and he kept them from Rawhide. He used to take the wardrobe home from the set so nothing would be lost.
Spot on and many thanks for all the info. I am currently putting together the same outfit so very interesting to watch this and very much appreciated 👍
The cuff was in "For A Few Dollars More" The gun he used in the first two as a Colt Single Action Army in .357. The Autry Museum Of Western Heritage had a Sergio Leone exhibit and the gun and poncho were on exhibit. I live in Carmel Ca and Eastwood was the Grand Marshall in the Centennial Parade a few years back and wore the poncho, shirt from "High Plains Drifter", hat from "Unforgiven", and the Andy Anderson walk and draw holster. All while sitting on a Wells Fargo stage coach. Unfortunately, Spaghetti Western Replicas is no longer extant.
Always happy to see a clint Eastwood fan. We are from Texas and only have the poncho thats the same. Wear it almost everyday out and about, our is from Hollywood props and its amazing. We work and play in the poncho so it has the worn feel and (clean) soiled looks. Thanks for the good video.
Here I am again, 3 years later, still learning from your Clint outfit tutorial. Got the poncho, made a decent hat, up next is the holster rig! WE STILL NEED A JOSEY WALES VIDEO!!! lol Thanks again, bro.
Pretty good video, I must admit. Costume is AWESOME; WELL DONE. The holster seems a little flimsy. Alfonso's of Hollywood makes THE correct holter rig; I think they have it licensed/trademarked; it better be, for the amount of money they want for it; and it IS a steel-lined holster, as the movie ones all were. Actually, the steel-lined holster didn't make it's debut until the 1950s, when the TV westerns came out; along with the "drop-loop" style of belt. The poncho, and shirt info was very useful, and the final display was good; the glass bullethole was priceless! Most certainly, you..."made my day..."
As an added footnote, if you are as detail oriented as you sound, at the beginning of the video, in the word "SHWCASE", you're missing the "O"; perhaps intentional?? A. bit of storyline detail; FoD was 1964, FFDM was 1965, and GB&U was 1967, and is a "prequel", in that it shows where and how he gets his trademark poncho, which is a very somber, depressing scene. We then see the poncho from that point forward, at the cemetery, to the end of the movie. For all you HARDCORE Eastwood geeks like me🤠
I am absolutely blown away by your costume build. Seriously the best out there. Just wondered if you could elaborate on weathering the hat? I have just scored a Stetson Revenger and reshaped the crown to be mor accurate but now I need to weather it and I'm not sure where to start
Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words. I weathered mine by adding trailers. Which is basically sand that gradually accumulates around the strap of your hat. I just used actual dirt and sand for that. Depending on which film in the series you are going for, you could add some bullet holes as well. In For a Few Dollars More, Blondie and Col. Mortimer have a shoot out of sorts. And it resulted in very distinct bullet holes near the front of the hat.

Of the poncho? They are indeed embroidered, so the whites are slightly raised. The video is all I have for now.
@@foxhound1984 okeeeey, thanks for the information, thanks a lot !!
Amazing
its cool !!!!
I think the Straightline’s holster’s leather is too rough and too light.
So what vest are you going to get replace the Straightline one?
Sadly I really haven't had the time to figure that out. But I'll definitely post an update when I do.
Ralph Sutter I’ve been scouring for a better one and I don’t think it exists ready made anywhere. I think it’d have to be custom built by someone.
What's that cloth around your neck called?
A neckerchief :)
@@foxhound1984 Thank you for your response sir.
Hi sir ! I am the same size than you and I am about to order the same poncho. They asked me about custom size , could you give me the size you asked for ?
The 52/31 inch will be a bit too large for me.
Thank you , great vidéo !
@@norn83 Back when I ordered, it was only medium or large. I went with the large based on my height.
@ could you please give me the exact inches ? I asked them and they no longer have smaller size. I am 6.1 too and it does fit soooo good on you so i need the same size :)
@norn83 Hey, unfortunately I can't - it's in a box, in storage
@@foxhound1984 okay Thank you for your time, stay safe !
Great looking costume Ralph. Does the vendor ship from within the USA? I'm wanting to order the rabbit fur version hat and I'm wondering how long the shipping takes. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! They do ship from within the States. It took them 3 weeks to make the hat though. So be sure to factor that into the total time.
@@foxhound1984 As much as I like yours my budget just won't stretch that far. I was talking about straightline's shipping since you said some of your pieces came from them via Amazon. Sorry I should have made myself more clear.
@@AZSP1966 Straightline is definitely US-based
@@foxhound1984 Okay great thank's amigo.
So did you end upgrading your vest? Since spaghetti western replicas is no more Hollywoodprop.com has them.
Not yet, but it's in the works :)
What type of fabric is the poncho?
A light wool, like a blanket
@@foxhound1984 Thank you!!
Cimeron sells man with no name poncho. $79
I'm jealous lol 🤣
If you look at the hat during the film you’ll see there is no liner or sweatband on the inside.
You actually look like Clint eastwood
Thanks! :)
Hey man lol! I’m back and am ready to purchase one of those ponchos. What’s the best email/way to contact them? They haven’t seemed active on any social media that I’ve found?
Hey! I'm honestly not sure. It looks like Larry Green Productions has merged with another company (Western Replucas I believe). Just Google Larry Green Productions, you should find them
Ralph Sutter alright thanks Mann
I am trying to buy the Navy Colt replica but can not buy it on amazon because amazon cant ship it to where I live in California. Is the StraightLine Collectable website legit?
Where can I buy boosts ? Thanks
I wear mine on a daily basis and have for years. Big fan of boots, so I always have them.
Amazon has a bunch. All different prices.
@@foxhound1984 Yaa thanks for your answer
Ralph Sutter
@@RefudDoo No problem! :)
