Iona is just the most amazing ambassador for golf. No ego says it like it is. accepts limitations and plays to strengths. Jimmy is such a good guy loves it when he plays a great shot just like the rest of us. tubesy keeps his distance but also brings out the important questions that we the ones sat in sat in front of the screen want to ask. The Worplesdon foursomes is a legendary tournament, it would be great to see Iona and Jimmy play in it, my clubs old President Cyril JH Tolley (picture on the wall in Worplesdon) and Joyce Wethered possibly the greatest amateur lady ever, played in the event for years, as well as touring the world giving exhibitions. Amateurs were not so amateur in those days, almost the equivalent of content creators, Tolley had cigarette cards made in his image, he wrote golf books, won the French open twice as an amateur and was a war hero winning the military cross. Wethereds brother Roger won the British Amateur as did Tolley. The 1920’s halcyon days for golf, and women’s golf was a big as men’s
