- Now that The Police, especially Sting actually, persist in their refusal (or rather fear, I guess) of making that highly sought after new material, we - the loyal fans - should get that job done. So take a moment for this audio classic in a refreshed version! As I always wanted to hear it: on the one hand a bit roughened up, as in the passages with the isolated bass. That especially gives that dynamic and energetic vibe of the early Police, which I love so much. But on the other hand, the song has been made considerably lighter, so that it gets more of the spatial vibe that you mainly hear on Reggatta. Listen to the start for example, or 4:59 and beyond, which I personally really prefer.
Don't be fooled by the live video images; this is a studio version remix. The video comes from various sources, quite a puzzle to make this tailor-made suit for the remix. Hope you also think it fits nicely! Thanks to the splendid and creative Bollacha and Fabmix, who already provided basic tools to elaborate further on in this CSLY version. All footage used is around on the internet. Enjoy this meal!
And if our protagonist(s) will ever read this: c’mon Sting, time is running out and what is there to lose? So get your friends together, go crazy and MAKE THAT DAMN SIXTH POLICE ALBUM!

Thank you so much, Idan! A&M can always call of course :-) But to be honest: it is of course pure poverty that I - and a number of others - try to freshen up these old Police songs. The best thing they can do is do it themselves of course! With existing material, but preferably with new. Or what about throwing all their solo material into a Police blender? Then that 6th Police album will surely be made quickly and a special and precious closing for all of us!

brilliant, now this is what you call extended, just using the original track and missing bits/adding bits here and there . why cant all 80s songs be extended like this instead of just adding a few minutes here and there , if only people had the time to do this back then , enjoyable to listen to,yet again, well done and thanks. hope you do more of these

Cool bananas, thank you ! l rememer way back when, l bought The Police songbook (it included everything upto & including Ghost in the Machine). l wanted to see the lyrics for Mosaka Tango. The 1st verse (phonetisized) goes something like :-
Gisimo wat didda ha bo ya, no no no didda habawa. ln the the book it just said: lyrics : Adlib.

These mixes are fun to listen to but I can’t understand the snark towards Sting in many of your descriptions. He knows that doing new material with The Police would only lead to disappointment. He has always said he wanted “the legend” to remain intact. Any new material would be met with great disapproval, especially from Copeland fans. For whatever reason, Copeland’s fans seem to have deep resentment towards Sting which is odd because Copeland does not have this same resentment. He has nothing but kind things to say about Sting and visa versa. Sting was even a guest on his show. He’s made peace with the fact that The Police will never make new music again. But for the sake of argument, let’s say The Police got back together and they released songs like “I Can’t Stop Thinking About You,” “Rushing Water,” “One Fine Day,” or “If It’s Love.” Would that make you or any Copeland fan happy? Of course not. But that’s what you’d get because that’s where Sting is at now. So be thankful that The Police ended on a high note and ended things while they were at the top. BTW, I like the Sting songs that I listed, but I know for a fact that they’d be met with absolute derision by the majority of Copeland’s fans. You have insufferable fans like Dietmer (or whatever his name is) who spends his days mercilessly mocking Sting and his music, yet devotes his life to Sting’s music. (Via The Police) 🤨
Anyway, nice job on the mixes, but it’s time to let the idea of a Police reunion go. It’s never gonna happen and that’s a good thing, IMO.
Hi yobculture, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Although I use a Stewart-related symbol in my profile, that doesn't mean I don't like Sting. In fact, I think he's a genius, and frankly the real foundation for The Police's success. Just listen to the (solo) work of Andy and Stewart. Pretty okay most of the time, but often it lacks brilliance, structure, and certainly a remarkable singing voice. So honor where credit is due!
But, contrary to what you write, I also think the reverse is true: Sting's solo work has a lot of positive outliers. But I always wonder if he doesn't keep his musicians too much inside bounderies. If Stewart had drummed, they would probably have become so much more expressive, less coloring within the lines. If Andy had played, many guitar parts would have become a bit more exciting or complicated. And indeed for the sake of argument: I also like Rushing Water, one of the better Sting songs in recent years, but still: the guitar part is a repetition of his oeuvre, and the drum part is unimaginatively straightforward. And yes: then I can only imagine what this rough diamond would have sounded like with Andy and Stewart...
What it's all about in my opinion: Andy and Stewart are in for a collaboration, but Sting has been holding off since the end of the reunion tour, and so is in control. He continues his own way. He launches a new project and then says in every interview that he likes to surprise his fans by doing 'something truely surprising'. But - with all respect - we know that by now. There is little surprise left. Meanwhile, the years are starting to count seriously, especially for Andy. That's why I'm calling on Sting to do something really surprising. Break the myth about The Police as a closed legend, visit his old friends (while he still can), and do what thousands worldwide are really waiting for: make one last new Police record! They even could re-work a pile of solo songs from each other, throwing them in the 'Police blender', then we immediately have an answer to our discussion. And if it's not good enough, all remixers on this earth will have enough new material to work on improved versions for years to come.. ;-). But I doubt that will be the case!
I happen to agree with the both of you! I believe that the "magic" of Sting's music is on the tail end of a wonderful career. However, I don't think there is anything the three of them could do now, without bringing the tension of the egos of creativity. At this point, I believe the three should join together again, and play live shows with the works we didn't get for the reunion shows and they can finish The Police saga in Vegas, where Sting is currently finishing his career. Then again, what do I know.... I'm just a die hard fan for these three! Just keep up the wonderful work, FYYC and you have a true fan here, in me!

@@fyyc I should have said it's not a criticism of your fine work but as you know looking back through TV archives, they couldn't care less. Even Sting using his Strat as a bass in the Walking on the Moon video and the way Stewart stands up and plays his drums which are all at funny angles in some UK performances on TV.
