I was born in 1969 but remember little about my life until I was about 7. Then, unfortunately, I found out very quickly how hard childhood could be... it wasn't until I was 9 or 10 years old, after much abuse, loss and trauma, that I heard this song for the first time and it LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE! I was a young girl who was (and still is) lost, had experienced some nasty shit and I just wanted to die. I heard this song and quickly became obsessed by it. I was scared so told no-one about ANYTHING...THEN, one day, completely out the blue, my Stepfather drove me to Woolworth's (a now defunct shop in the UK), and told me to stay in the car. Several minutes later he came out with a carrier bag. He got in the car and slung said bag on the seat beside me. I asked him what he'd bought and he told me to look in the bag. I was a KID, so of course I looked... It was The Police, "Zenyatta Mondatta" vinyl LP... Knowing he was an Elton John fan and being naive as heck, I said - "but you don't like The Police!" "Oh well", said my Pa "You better have it then". And so, I got the first vinyl album that I ACTUALLY WANTED, and I was as happy as happy could be... I LOVED THIS ALBUM THEN, AND I STILL LOVE IT NOW - I was in a really dark place way back when and I honestly believe that the songs on this album (specifically this one), really DID save my life xxx
RAFAEL PERALTA The Police is my favorite band. I see the police for first time in Chile in 1982 in The Festival de Viña del Mar. A big hug for all fans in the world from Rapa Nui isla de Pascua Easter Island Chile. July 4 2021.
---with this MAXI Single version you go to heaven on the Disco dancefloor---Do you agree, appreciated Rafael Peralta ?---and the drummer "Stewart Copeland" is here very perfect again---
This song brings the message of how to never stop believing and never to give up on life. Life is precious. Take the time to look directly into the eyes of a young baby.
@@NiceLongSandwich The Police yes . If that’s what you mean. Today’s artist no they don’t. Not to many people that can write, produce, record and master the work. Its becoming a lost art.
Man, Zenyatta has grown on me by the years since I bought it when it came out. I love The Police and all 5 of their albums. going to see Andy in a couple of weeks.
Music is always associated with our lives it’s like a Soundtrack to all of the different phases and parts of our life, I think if we could have it over to do again we might not be that impressed, the first time is forever, For Good and Bad.
iFelicidades! Esta version es la mejor a cual he oido... muy bien hecha... Congratulations! This version is the best thai have heard. Well done. Hello from Mexico 🇲🇽
Such a great band did some great stuff together just wished they’d have stayed together a bit longer and we could have had more iconic tunes like this although I know there later stuff was changing from there earlier material
That song reminds me of back in the day when music was truly "MUSIC". Not like this mess today. Back when the musicians were really playing their instruments and "NOT" using computer tracks. 'Very Good Song".
Lyrics.... "Turn on my VCR, same one I've had for years James Brown on the T.a.m.i. show, same tape I've had for years I sit in my old car, same one I've had for years Old battery's running down, it ran for years and years Turn on the radio, the static hurts my ears Tell me where would I go, I ain't been out in years Turn on the stereo, it's played for years and years An Otis Redding song, it's all I own When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around Plug in my M.C.I. to exercise my brain Make records on my own, can't go out in the rain Pick up the telephone, I've listened here for years No one to talk to me, I've listened here for years When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When I feel lonely here, don't waste my time with tears I run 'Deep Throat' again, it ran for years and years Don't like the food I eat, the cans are running out Same food for years and years, I hate the food I eat When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around When the world is running down You make the best of what's still around Turn on my V.C.R., same one I've had for years James Brown on the T. A. M. I. show, same tape I've had for years I sit in my old car, same one I've had for years."
I had never heard of the TAMI show mentioned in this song. Then, last year, PBS played an old TAMI rerun that I dvr'd. It wasn't the most professional production, but still fun to watch. I wasn't familiar with most of the singers until the Stones came on. It was definitely from the 60s....and the Stones did not seem very enthusiastic about performing.
