the acoustic spectrum of this instrument is so profound and bone shaking. i dont like every single organ, but generally i love organs. the wall of sound they send out is just immense. i wonder, did organs when bach lived sound the same as todays organs? were they just as loud and powerful? if yes, imagine the impact, witnessing it being played in a church or cathedral must have had on the people. nowadays we are used to very loud sound. cinemas, concerts, festivals. all amplified to the max. but some hundreds of years ago, this instrument was by far the loudest and impressive one. must have been a revelation. elevating. it still is. such a grand instrument. there is a sense of power, grandeur, fatalism, pathos, splendor and divinity that only an organ can transmit. and people who are able to play this instrument have my highest admiration. i cant wrap my head around the degree of coordination and multitasking needed to master it. it is like one single person plays an entire orchestra.
I cannot believe how good this guy is. I don’t know which to admire more: the quality of his transcription or the virtuosity with which he performs it. There are moments that are absolutely uncanny in the way he makes the organ sound like the instruments he’s imitating. What he can do with *one* foot playing rapid passages on the pedals, let alone two, made me hiss, “Oh my *God*!” out loud more than once, sitting here by myself watching this. His sheer physical powers remind me of Glenn Gould’s pinpoint accuracy or Pavarotti’s vocal range - you never feel like they’re brushing up against the limit of their abilities, as though no limit existed for them.

Wow! An absolutely entrancing and spellbinding performance from Jonathan, enhanced by the amazing acoustics and Tom’s wonderful filming and recording in this magnificent cathedral. Thank you so much Jonathan and Tom for making this experience possible for so many of us who are in awe of your combined talents.
I agree with you completely, Elizabeth. The intricate details of the Cathedral were so beautifully captured on Tom’s film. Taking it all in, both sound and sight, will be possible only through repeated viewings
It's crazy to think that just a year and half before that video, this cathedral was full of steel coffins at the point that there wasn't no more space, when pandemic crippled my home town
Nighttime here in Sydney music for the soul while watching Australia & England 3nd test. One of my favourites pieces. Of music Thank you Johnathan for calming our senses.
The Largo is heavenly beautiful. Wow! 42:57 till 45:00 That's absolutely wonderful. Best part of the "winter" in my humble opinion. Very cozy indeed. Imagine being on a couch with a crackling fire in the middle of the frezing winter. Such a gift Jonathan and Tom gave to us. Thank you very much indeed brothers. ❤🙏🏼
Whished I've been there, magnificent, one of the most beautiful pieces of music on one of the best instruments mankind ever made! I've watched and listened numerous times to this wonderful arragement and believe Antonio Vivaldi would have been elated with this performance. My go to everytime again and again.
First listened to this on the October 29, 2021 livestream from the "Festival Organistico Internazionale, 2021" from the Bergamo, Italy Cathedral. Tom' s "Pictures at an Exhibition" animation was included. (The sound on today's rehearsal recording is much better). Tom did an "Organ building" animation "Progetto Scuole 2021 Cathedrale de Bergamo". The "Pictures at an Exhibition" animation is included. I'm also watching today. From Chicago, U.S.A.
I agree and definitely encourage those who have not done so yet to watch and listen to the animation of organ building plus Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Expedition played on this organ.
I feel so privileged having attended Jonathan's concert yesterday in the beautiful church St. Martin in Lorch (Germany)! He also played the Four Seasons, among others. As a regular concert goer, you might get overly familiar with this work. But everything sounded so fresh and new, with uncanny virtuosity, the soundwaves wafted through the nave - goosebumps, unbelievable 👏👏👏
Breath taking, Bach and Vivaldi are my favorites, same are organs, cello, violin, you combine it the best way possible. Hope one day you come to play some amazing organs in Prague.
Excellent interpretation of The Four Seasons by Vivaldi! It for sure adds many positive impressions with the beautiful church and the very good photo/filming by Tom Scott.
Again brilliant, and a refreshingly different voicing of this wonderful organ, also the balanced audio you manage to obtain Tom. Many thanks once again both
A sumptuous and original performance of the work. Enhanced by the exceptional acoustics of the Bergamo Cathedral, in my opinion, the maestro Jonathan Scott, delighted us with one of the best interpretations of Vivaldi's four seasons.
Thank you, again. Looking forward to your lovely music at St. GEORGES at Jesmond, Newcastle. 29th May 2024. Our dear DR. Clarence Adoo. MBE. special musician too. Love Janet xx❤xx
Hello! What a truly Exeptional Cathedral there in Bergamo Italy. And thanks for Vivaldi,s immortal music the four seasons. Thanks beautiful Brothers! Greetings from the Netherlands.
I have known and loved this piece of music since I was a student--back when we listened on a Victrola and read the liner notes by candle light! Obviously this performance is brilliant musically, but I like the video values, as well. Visually interesting without being too distracting.
Dear Jonathan, thank you for this wonderful concert and thanks also to Tom; he is an excellent sound engineer, camera operator and director of photography!
Gosh, I am in shock after listening to this magnificent and amazing masterpiece! Jonathan, the organ itself is a heavenly instrument, quite difficult to play, and you not only do it brilliantly, but you succeed in transmitting everything that the composer wanted to express in his music, you not only play the organ, but with each note you touch the soul of those who listen to you. The most sublime and pure music is not something we listen to, it is an experience that is lived, as we let our soul and being lose itself in each note and travel in a melody, maybe we fly to the heights. The idea of writing down what the music in its language says, is brilliant. A perfect combination that brings the listener into a splendid experience. While listening, my body was here, but my soul and mind travelled to another place and time. Thank you for this, and to all the people who have made this magnificent masterpiece possible!
I'm listening Presto from Summer at least 10th time and I cannot stop to listen it again! It's so powerful, fascinating, it's like heaven's troops comming from opened heaven to earth with all God's glory! Thank you very much for such a wonderful musik.
Had to listen to this three times. It becomes a Symphony in twelve movements: Literally a symphonic unity: I am very fond of this music, in spite of it being a warhorse. I remember and revisit [from time to time] your recording in Hereford Cathedral of one the concertos. As a complete performance this exceeds the one concerto effort in Hereford - totally staggering! Thank you. Best wishes from George in Herefordshire.
What can I say? .... other than absolutely brilliant! I've known this piece for well over 40 years - and watched previous performances of your transcription of it - all were excellent! The performance premiered tonight took my appreciation of it to a new level. What a beautiful and appropriate setting in which to perform this. Your combined talents never cease to amaze me!
Stupendous! Outdoes all adjectives!! Grandeur on a grand scale !! A glorious feast of sight and sound. A recording linking the history of the ages. Your legacy to human excellence. Bravo, maestros !
Everything is wonderful: the concert, the filming and the cathedral! Better than this presentation is impossible! Congratulations to both of you for the magnificent work! Thank you for everything!

Not exactly a ”little” concert Jonathan. More like a thundering great musical extravanza with incredibly photography.
Sono di Bergamo. Felicissimo, Grazie per questa Diretta.
I strongly feel that only giving you one thumb’s up isn’t enough , here is another one 👍 . Thank you, Jonathan !

The wonderful playing in that church with the beutiful art, stone, and wood work. Amazing aural and visual delight.
