Like this demo of the KOT V4. Gabor do you still own the KOT V4 & is it still your favourite overdrive? As thought now the ZVEX BOR is your favourite drive pedal?
Nice review! I use an OTS mini as well and love it. Are you using the actual clean channel of the amp or the drive but with the Od trim way down? Also what happens if you move the second dip switch up and not the first? Thanks!
I bypassed the wait list and hefty price tag and found a local builder making clones of highly sought after pedals. My first encounter with his King of Tone copies was in a pedal he called King Klon... The right side was an exact Klone. He's decided that being the local pedal guru wasn't for him as it took too much time from his family and he wasn't selling enough to quit his day job (the average person here tends to shy away from gear they can't buy in a music store or never heard of). By luck, the last build he will ever do is going to be a full blown KOT clone, and being the first to get wind of it, I quickly put a deposit down. He's waiting for the last few parts to arrive, with an ambitious goal of Having it built by this Saturday... I suspect it will be at least another week or so unless he paid extra for shipping. He didn't have a solid price yet, but said it would be cheaper than the King Klon, which I paid $220CAN for. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
actually, this was originally based on the marshall bluesbreaker pedal not the Tubescreamer...but Analogman obviously has made something even different to the BB...either way, great pedal and good demo!

Nice job, If #3 is overdrive, what # dip switch did you set for distortion and what position, up or down. You mentioned it but the video did not show it. Thanks
There’s is no best configuration...it’s two sides...you can set them up to be a clean boost, mild overdrive or higher gain...they are all good it just depends on your setup and what kind of stuff you play
Its the same as both on...one switch switches between clean boost and overdrive...the other one switches between boost/OD and distortion...it doesn't matter what the other switch is set to. Hope that makes sense

Ok, I know what you mean but according to some schematic i found online it still doesn't make sense. I agree with you about the switches functions, but they are indipendent from each other. If you put them off-on you will have the distortion, but if you put them on-on, you will have a distortion + an overdrive. I think that the difference will be inaudible but I'm pretty sure that there is. Anyway sorry for the worst english you've evere read :(
konnektlive you are correct! This is a high/high gain KOT. I have the normal/high version myself. My favorite part of the KOT is the articulation when the guitar pot is lowered. I don't lose my tone when my volume pot is changed. I also swapped my Opamps with some old TS-808 opamps. Very dynamic pedal. And some people bitch about the cost. It's cheaper than many, many bootietique pedals. Yea you have to wait (or pay). Had I know how great this pedal was years ago, I'd have paid the extra. It's really that good.
I'm a huge fan of the King of Tone...also the Zvex Box of Rock...I just got a Bixonic Expandora which is awesome...and so is the Crowther HotCake...those are my personal favourites - Gabor

But what happens if you put them off-on?

I honestly think you are wrong as when you showed the inside of the pedal, both Chips had the "H" letter on them which means High Gain.
