I live in Oklahoma, and I have the burglar bars on all the windows, and an iron security gate enclosing the porch and front door. They were here when we bought the house but in addition to that we installed cameras, and an alarm system. No, I don't live in a high crime area. MY neighborhood is in a nice middle-class area, less than 10 minutes from Costco, Super Walmart, Super Targets, and a host of other trendy stores. I think the key is deterrence wherever you live.

Hi guys! I’m building in Asebu Pan African Village and currently searching for a carpenter who can build an external board door which is smaller than a regular single door. It’s 2 3/4 by 7 door.
@everymanisyourteacher9951 that’s what we chose as our design, when you custom build a house, it’s your design. You have the right to choose whats best for you 🤷🏿♂️ What type of window do you have in your house? Are your bars horizontal or vertical?
@ I think it’s what they can do vs what you want them to do. It will be and look the same if everyone goes with the flow. I personally think sliding windows are dated. To the point where the little bathroom window got to be sliding? The fact that most of them can’t fit Awning, top or bottom hung doesn’t mean it can’t be done. Anyway, that’s what you want. Maybe Americans are not use to sliding windows😊.
@ I don’t have any yet, I’m about to. But I just don’t understand why they got to be the same. I’m not saying you have done something wrong. I’m just trying to think outside the box. My little research shows that, most of them find it cumbersome fitting Sash, double or single top or bottom hung windows so they will recommend the easiest one as possible. I have so many issues about how things are done in Ghana. I normally ask these sort of questions to get an insight as to why…
@everymanisyourteacher9951 oh ok. We asked for choices and quality and that what we ended up with. We don’t install windows so we wouldn’t know if it’s easy or not.

Do black rod iron with wood beams that match the door stain, like our atlanta homes.
That’s a suggestion. Thanks
Are u going to paint the doors different colors and u will leave it the way it is
We’re leaving it as it is
@@BlackLove-Gh oh k
The doors are natural wood and are stained for protection. This will match our decor going forward.

Why must the windows be sliding? And why must the burglar bars be horizontal instead of vertically? Why is everyone doing the same thing?
