I just want to touch on the motherly instincts right after birth. As someone who had a traumatic birth sometimes you don’t feel those warm loving feelings at first, that’s also normal. I REMEBER feeling so guilty for not feeling instantly connected to my baby. It took even a couple of months to REALLY feel emotionally connected to her. Doesn’t mean I love her any less than any other mom. And that’s all normal. Moms-you are not broken if you don’t feel connected with your baby at birth. Your baby is a stranger you don’t really know yet. Give yourself grace and TIME!! 💕💕💕
Yes yes yesss! Every single person & experience is different. As far as I’m concerned, every single mom on the planet is a super hero 🤍 I’m so sorry you had a traumatic birth. You’re so right that giving yourself time & grace is the best thing you can do!
Sarah... my baby drove himself to school today for the first time...that love grows exponentially...I am just as over the moon about that kid as the first time I held him... happy for you!
I did the eat/play/sleep scheduling with both of my babies and strongly recommend sticking to it!! Once he starts to fall into a schedule, it is SO much easier to predict your day and when you can plan things. Plus, he will be SO much happier knowing what comes next and your meeting those needs before he has to cry for them. I had very happy babies who rarely cried because their schedule worked so well!! Congratulations!! He is just perfect!!
I filmed this a couple of weeks ago and since then I feel like we’ve gotten into a nice routine at least during the day. I always offer food every 3 hours so he never cries for it. At night it’s still unpredictable how long he’ll sleep for though. It also helps me block out my day a bit and be able to shower😂
@@SarahBrithinee it just makes everybody's day easier! He'll get the nights, don't worry. Hopefully he's like my babies were and is content to go back to sleep after nursing!
I really really appreciate all of your videos about pregnancy and birth. As someone who is terrified of birth, you have inspired me to pursue the educational route. I'm already seeing a counselor and we are shifting to work on my anxiety/switching medications to help with it all. I feel like I owe you one 😆 because I have learned so much from you and found so many resources to help me throughout the process of pregnancy for when I do get pregnant. Thank you!! 🥰🥰
Oh my gosh I’m so glad!! It’s such an insane experience and it’s normal to be scared. You’ve got this though 🤍 Knowledge is power and the more you know and can be prepared for the better. One tip I have is to find someone you trust to filter out what you see. If you have a question about something find someone else to collect resources for you. There are too many horror stories and bad things for you to see online that won’t help. My therapist sent me a bunch of videos on epidurals and it was so much more helpful than me going down a rabbit hole online making my fear worse.
@@SarahBrithinee that's a great idea! I have already ordered the books you recommended but prior to that and also thinking about finding other sources outside of what you offered is overwhelming! I'm worried I might accidentally stumble into something fear based. I will definitely ask my therapist to do what yours did! And some friends! Truly cannot thank you enough!! I will watch all of the content to keep learning!
@@morgan6404 One more resource is the birth hour podcast. It's all women sharing stories of their births. When I found out I had to have a c-section I listened to a bunch of other women's stories having c-sections and it really helped me!
Great video! I had my baby 15 weeks ago and also had to have a c section as my baby was breech. I felt the same as you, scared as I didn't know what to expect, but also I've had 2 vaginal deliveries before and I had my heart set on a 3rd one. My c section was the same as yours, so relaxed and they took the screen down when she was born and I breastfed straight away too. The recovery wasn't too bad either. I agree with you that the day your babies are born are the best days of your life! I feel that the day my babies are born are like yesterday, and my eldest is 6 now 😭 where does the time go? Honestly, make the most of the newborn stage, they don't stay this tiny for long. I also wanted to add that breastfeeding is not easy to begin with, I have never found it easy for the first 6 weeks or so, even third time around! Once you get past the first 6 weeks, it does get so much easier x
Love this video!!! Totally agree with everything! It’s so true, you have no idea how you could possibly have “that feeling” everyone talks about when you see your baby for the first time….. the beat feeling ever!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I did the Taking Cara Babies class in person since she has her classes right by my house. It was a life saver for my second baby because the first NEVER SLEPT! But the second was amazing and I think her ideas really helped!
Breastfeeding will be much, much easier with your next baby (if you choose to have another). I was so shocked by that because it was so hard and painful with my first. Breastfeeding is so precious. Good for you sticking it out!
A lot of people say breastfeeding is natural and easy, but it's not easy for everyone. My daughter had difficulty staying latched on, and I had low milk because of my Hashimoto's thyroid issues (dry). I trudged through feedings part-time determined and ended up pumping instead to get her breastmilk half the time, soy formula the other half. She also had a dairy allergy, but soy milk worked for her. Everyone is different. Embrace your unique experience, whatever and however it is.
Does anyone else have weird painful twinges in the pelvic area after a c-section? I mean like years later? I was told it was scar tissue tearing or pulling.
No, it’s just saying that I’m so glad I’m Theo’s mom. I’m sure I’ll feel the same way if/when we have future children. I was referencing the gender disappointment I dealt with earlier in my pregnancy.

Thank you for being so open about your mental health ❤ little Theo is lucky to have you.
I'm so happy you are doing so well. You look and sound like a mom of multiple babies. You're a natural. Theo is so adorable.

Ahh good to know! It was a really rough start & I never want to do that again haha. I’m so glad I pushed through though because it’s great now.

Did you wear a girdle or post surgery band? If so, do you have a preferred one?
Where is your head band from? So cute!
It's old from loft 😭

Umm….saying that you can’t imagine anyone else as yours is like saying you don’t want any more kids 🥺 That was a strange question…..

Oh now I get it- and totally 💯 with you on the gender disillusionment thing….but once they get here, it changes you, doesn’t it? Theo is adorable 🥰
