One very precious piece of advice I got: prioritize the older one when you can, because she is the one who notices / remembers it if she always comes second. I often said "Wait a minute, Clara, I have to give Anna her snack" to the baby. I said it to the baby but it actually was so that the older one felt important too. It helped a lot.
I'm having my second baby in 12 weeks and having another c section so this has really settled my nerves a little. So glad to see you back Lily and that you're feeling more yourself post partum x

Completely agree. The first time was so stressful, the c-section, the new baby… the second time was lovely, zero stress as you already know what to do and you can really enjoy the newborn stage ❤️

Same here! I always wondered if having such a difficult first baby experience (she cried a lot, all day long, and hardly napped) contributed to me getting postpartum depression. For a long time I just thought this was what having a baby felt like. With my second it was the opposite. It also isn't such a big shock to the system because you already are a mom. :)
It was great to see you again and to know you are so much better this time! I have 3 kits and they were all so different experiences (they still are) That first black and white clip was so, so lovely, thank you for sharing with us 🥰
Loving the baby and being jealous are two separate things-if she gets jealous you will notice because she will act out with you and Rich. Our first LOVED her new baby sister from the start and was protective of her- so we thought she was not jealous. Then we noticed she was acting up in a way she never did before with us. (Around the baby's second month) She was still lovely to her sister, just a little bit of a pain to us. 🤪 Once we figured this out we gave her lots of positive attention and it was ok. Now they are 4 and 7 and best friends. ❤️🌹
You are glowing! And you seem so content and happy. I’m thrilled for your family. BTW, when we had our son, the midwife’s suggested putting a small flannel over his groin when changing him to avoid accidents. Made a WORLD of difference 🙈🙊

I had my second baby on 10th November and am having such a similar experience in terms of it being so much easier! I keep finding myself laughing to myself (like a crazy lazy) about how happy I feel, while with my first I did a lot of crying. Long may it continue for us both :)
Yes! With my first I had postpartum depression, she was crying all the time and barely napping, I was miserable and just thought this was what motherhood looked like. My second was much more chill but also I didn't have depression. She also napped regularly and I finally discovered what it was to have an enjoyable (although exhausting and VERY sleep-deprived) experience of having a baby. I do think if someone had a baby like my first was as a second that would be a big shock to the system. But generally it's just not as big of a transition from 1-2. (unless your kids are crazy close together in age - than I imagine it would be worse.)

My son is one year old and I found the physical recovery post partum really difficult and didn’t particularly enjoy my pregnancy either (it was high risk and stressful). We have a two year old and I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not to have another child. This video definitely gave me hope. I also had an emergency c section with my first child and I’ve been a bit scared about going through that again as the first was so traumatic. I’m so happy everyone is well. My baby is 15 months and always wanted to have 2, but gosh, what a year I just had! So hard, such a transformation as for you. So now that I am starting to feel me, I am scared to go for the second one. But his video gave me hope as I feel kind of similar to you in this maternity journey. So glad to see you are so happy! ❤️
I feel like as long as you don't have them too close together it will be fine. It was incredibly hard with my first, especially the first 2 years. After that, I started to feel ready. My daughters are 3 years apart and it's the perfect age gap to me. Not to say for someone else it couldn't be a closer age gap, but with all the parents around me I can see those who had two under two (or just an age gap of 2 years +/-) struggled WAY more with the transition from 1-2. My kids are 4 and 7 and they are best friends but also far enough apart that when the baby came, the older one had a degree of independence.

I also have older girl and younger boy (they are teens now) and I can tell you that once you pass the first year crazy logistics, they will start to play together and it is so much easier then having one kid. I feel like as long as you don't have them too close together it will be fine. It was incredibly hard with my first, especially the first 2 years. After that, I started to feel ready. My daughters are 3 years apart and it's the perfect age gap to me. Not to say for someone else it couldn't be a closer age gap, but with all the parents around me I can see those who had two under two (or just an age gap of 2 years +/-) struggled WAY more with the transition from 1-2. My kids are 4 and 7 and they are best friends but also far enough apart that when the baby came, the older one had a degree of independence.

Rudy is so cute!!! So happy for you and your family. I also have older girl and younger boy (they are teens now) and I can tell you that once you pass the first year crazy logistics, they will start to play together and it is so much easier then having one kid. The sound is good and can't wait to see how the loft turned out!
